I got the chance to test ride an 1125CR at the motorcycle show in San Mateo yesterday. I was very impressed by the bike. The bars were too low/ far forward for my aged/ damaged left wrist but inside the building they had an 1125CR with the higher bar kit and it fit pretty well. Long story made short, I like the bike, a lot. However, the mirrors drove me crazy. Anybody have any idea how to adjust the mirrors on the 1125CR so you can actually see something in them? For a tall guy all you can see is the road just behind the rear wheel. I was told by the Buell rep (for the fist time since I've been looking a Buells a jerk) "no, that is how they are, take it or leave it". I find it hard to Buell would release a bike this badly thought out, especially since the same mirrors on the 1125R work fine. I'm not in a position to buy another bike right now but the 1125CR looks like it could replace my Guzzi at some point. I love the Guzzi but parts and poor design/ assembly issues can drive you out of your mind. The Buell seems to have the soul of the Guzzi with better/ more modern design. I'm curious how much work I'd be in for to fix this stupid, dangerous mirror layout. Having owned more then one bike with turn signals integrated into the mirrors I'll add I am NOT a fan of this idea. Thanks, Goose |

There is not much adjustment in them. Im 6'3 and still see alot of myself. You can loosen the torx bolt and rotate the base out a little then readjust the mirror. Thats the best Ive gotten out of them. Other than buzzy, I think they work ok. I dont spend much time looking a them though. (Message edited by voodoo on December 21, 2008) |

I used my thumb to push the mirror inside the housing. Works great. Left, right, up , down- it goes where ever I push it. Good luck! |

when i test drove my dealer told me to adjust them by moving the mirror assembly, which i did and it didnt yield much results. but after i bought one i took a closer look and the mirror itself moved. so it wouldnt suprise me if they didnt inform u on the mirror movement sense my dealer didnt. not sure if u tried it or not. im a little curious though if u did urself because there is a lot of adjustment there. Im only 5'6 so it might seem like the world of mirror adjustment is there for me but a 6'3+ guy could be limited. |

Ds_Tiger First, would I be correct in to assume you are a troll? I'm new to this site and don't know the players yet. I can't believe you really think both the Buell rep and I don't know how to adjust a motorcycle mirror but I could be wrong. On the slight chance you are serious: I moved the mirror as far as it would move, it was still far too low for me to see anything. Every 1125CR I checked had the top of the mirror pushed to its limit. It looks like even shorter riders have to push the mirror to its limit, that leaves tall guys pretty much blind in to the rear, not good. I'm a little over 6' 4" and have relativity short legs. I expect to have to modify bikes to fit but this wasn't even close, unless you have a very short torso any rider in the high 5' range or above won't be able to see anything in these mirrors. My friend Ethan (6' 2") rode the 1125R and said the mirrors had plenty of adjustment range, the mirrors appear to be the same so I have to think they are just mounted wrong on the CR, I hope Buell realizes this and rotates the assembly 15 - 20 degrees forward, that would fix the problem. To the guys who suggested bar ends, that is how I fixed the mirrors on the Guzzi. Did you add new turn signals or keep the original mirror/ turn signal units and add the bar ends? Finally, I wouldn't let this keep me from buying an 1125CR, I was just hoping somebody would tell me a simple trick or hidden adjustment, looks like no suck luck. I've been trying to buy a Buell since I rode a couple of "Tubers" back in 1999. Every time I get close something comes up to stop me. It looks like I may, finally, be able to park an American sport bike in my garage. In the mean time I bought a Harley (Road Glide) so I could have a patriotic garage for the first time since I got a Honda 90 back in 1969, very cool to me. I'll be hanging out here to learn more about the 1125s. I REALLY liked the bike, I'm hoping I'll be an owner in 2009. I'll need to sell both the Guzzi and my Kawasaki and the market is not great but maybe it'll improve in the spring. Who knows, maybe Buell will even fix the mirrors by then. I have the upright bars. I just turned the bolts loose a bit, and re-adjusted (pushed forward) the clamp housing around the bars about a quarter inch. Still not the best rear view, but better than before. |

V11, YOu should have mentioned that you had adjusted the mirror within the housing in your initial post. I was thinking the same thing DS=Tiger posted--it's best to over-explain IMO. I belive he was trying to help you in this case. |

I just picked up my CR on Friday, I'm 6'4 and could see nothing much other than my arms and the ground underneath me even after moving the clamp housing... while waiting for bar end mirrors to arrive I just stuck one of those round 'blind spot' mirrors they sell for cars over the front of each mirror: it looks a little strange but I now have near perfect mirrors that don't vibrate one bit Oh and did I mention how much I love this bike? I had a Uly a while ago and loved it, but the engine on the 1125 is just amazing, and I'm still not allowed to use the whole RPM range yet.... |

V11 - I had the same issue - like others said, you can losen the hex bolts at the base (not torx) and rotate the whole mirror assemly forward some. If you still can't see, rotate it more. I'm not that tall and I had to do this. There are just white lines on the bars to tell the prepper where to put the mirrors, but they still leave some room for interpretation. They don't HAVE to be in any certain spot. And nothing about Ds_tiger's post was trollish. Lower your guard - not everyone is out to get you. |

First, sorry if I was too quick to judge. I still find it hard to believe I needed to specifically mention I tried to adjust the mirrors and even harder understand why someone would think the Buell rep wouldn't have enlightened me if I didn't know how make the adjustment but I'm well on the road to curmudgeon-hood so I'm probably missing something yet again. Second, thanks for the input. It sounds like like the mounts can be rotated enough to get some view, I was thinking they would be pinned like the similar mirrors on my last Ducati and/ or limited by contact with the bars as I had on other bikes. It sounds minor, we've all had poor mirrors, but (effectively) no mirrors combined with the low bars, a full face helmet and my neck not being used to the turning needed in this position was really making me uncomfortable. Peace, Merry Christmas (or whatever you are into, personally I'm most excited about the solstice, the days are getting LONGER again, Yea!), Goose |

I just recently discovered that the mirror glass pivots inside the mirror housing. Quite a bit actually. The range of adjustment makes a difference. |
