Hello Peoples.... New Here I am right on the cuff of buying a 2009 CR. This will be my first Buell but not my first bike. However, i'm a bit unsure about this purchase because of all the little problems I am reading about on this forum with this bike. Although the problems seem to be minor they are none the less problems that may send me back and forth to the dealership which is not that close to begin with. Error and low fuel readings oil/clutch leaks cold starting issues turn signals burning out flickering cluster condensation in cluster then theres the solenoid thing..... These are just a few that I read and can remember off the top. None of my previous bikes have given me any problems whatsoever. I've own bikes from Ducati to Harley D. Can someone shed some light on the issue of Buell 1125 ownership please. Thanx |

Hooliagn The 1125 is the complete package. I have an R and the only thing that I could complain about was the rough running in the 3-4k range, when the bike was new. That has been solved by the latest re-flash. I have an 08. All vehicles can have problems and Buell (as well as other bike manufacturers, automotive and other product manufacturers) provide a warranty to protect the customers in the event that there are problems. Buell is one of the best, so go for it and own something special. (Message edited by teach on December 01, 2008) |

There are many here like yourself tugging at the lease. I too have concerns at this time but the 2009 is a much shorter list than the 08's. Most here enjoy the trouble shooting. I would not, but it does appear that the 1125 is not just a bike, it's an adventure. |

1125CR, 2009. About 5 months, and 2500 miles, and no problems. The issues of the 08's have been dealt with. Buy it. You will not be dissapointed. Every manufacturer has issues, but BMC is to my knowledge the most proactive in resolving customer issues. In the unlikely event you do have a problem, you will find it fixed faster that you would with another make. Rob |

2-3 months and over 3k miles on my CR, love it, only had one issue and it was a freak fuel pump issue right after I bought it |

Hooliagn - I'm looking at doing the same thing after the first of the year. I've also been watching and reading closely. Same concerns as you also. The way I see it, the problem count vs. thousands sold...Buell vs. Off shore brands "appears" very lopsided. That is, more issues with the Buell vs. offshore brands by thousands sold. AND...the fact that as with most ALL offshore brands, the fuel and sometimes the spark requirements can be changed/manipulated to better manage the way the engine runs...not so with the Buell..at least right now. That to me is annoying. All that said, the 09, 1125CR is still on the short list of two. Mike |

1_mike and Hooliagn, I have 14K on my 1125R and would not have done things differently. It has been in the dealers shop 4 times in that time period for problems that arose along the way. Three of those visits, the problem was rectified while I waited. With the 4th problem (replacing hydraulic clutch), the dealer had it for three days. None of these visits has cost me a dime, of course. There is no risk in buying a Buell from the perspective of reliability and BMC standing behind the product. If you like the bike and you have a good dealer nearby, then buy it with confidence. If you are up in the air regarding a Buell vs something else, test ride your finalists and then decide. Getting nervous because of what you read here has some validity to it, but keep in mind it is like "judging the general health of the population by what is going on in an emergency room". |

I think the key to this thread is it's name. Tell me what you know ! Also, Doerman, you really got it right! Getting nervous because of what you read here has some validity to it, but keep in mind it is like "judging the general health of the population by what is going on in an emergency room".

But here people like going to the emergency room. Most of the world does not. |

Don't be worried. If you like the 1125r/cr, get it! The issues of the 08's are fixed. Most of what you see people doing now are tweaks to performance, not fixing ride-ability or durability issues. Go to any motorcycle brand forum, and you'll find people complaining about something. There's no such thing as a 100% perfect motorcycle or perfect company for that matter. The common theme you will find here is Buell stands behind their products and takes care of issues when they come up. |

I'll never get married, it's just not worth it. With all the nagging and fix this or fix that, too demanding. This bike is well worth the extra love you may need to put into it. Mature adults can deal with problems. If I have any problems with my bike I know they'll be fixed and I can deal with that. This bike won't make you the most popular, it's not the fastest. Who give a chit what other people think of you. Someone on here bought the bike and couldn't deal with what others thought of the pods. Christ. It's a friggin Awesome deal. |

Hooliagn- I have owned my 1125R now for 4 months and have 4200 miles on it. I have experienced zero problems. I had the third re-flash done only because of the improved mileage otherwise I was happy. (Message edited by xbswede on December 02, 2008) |

It's hard to rationalize the 1125 on specs alone... while its performance is great, as Monk mentioned, it's not the fastest. And, as Funk mentioned, maybe we're not exactly sane... For me, practicality (and economy) was a huge part of it: I live 4 miles from a dealer, parts are readily available, and the bike is quite cheap to fix (the pods will only set you back around $50, compared with several hundred dollars to fix a fairing on virtually any other sport bike). Practicality ruled out Ducati, KTM, Benelli, etc., as the nearest dealer for these for me is over 100 miles away. I couldn't bring myself to buy Japanese because of ubiquity... I mean, you're riding presumably because you are a bit independent-minded, right? All Buell bikes, but perhaps the 1125 in particular, to me represent an ideal of technological innovation to aspire to... I'm from Canada and an engineer. I moved to the US because I feel there are substantially more opportunities to innovate and stretch my career wings. If only there were more companies like Buell in North America, doing things their own way and being successful at it. Sorry for the rant... must be time for my medication... |

Go for it Hooligan!! The biggest problem for any prospective Buell owner is finding a dealer who really supports and loves the brand. Many see it as sort of side show. You appear to live about ten miles from a very experienced and enthusiastic Buell dealer, Liberty HD, which is a sponsor of this board. Problem solved. Make your move. Then start finding out about March Badness.

Error and low fuel readings FILL UP EVERY 150 MILE OR SO oil/clutch leaks NOT A PROBLEM HERE. cold starting issues NOT A PROBLEM HERE. (GUESS THAT DEPENDS ON YOUR DEFINITION OF COLD) turn signals burning out AFTER RIDING A FEW MILES WITH YOUR TURN SIGNAL FLASHING (BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT SELF CANCELLING), YOU WON'T MIND. flickering cluster TAKE IT OFF, SELL ON EBAY. condensation in cluster SEE ABOVE. then theres the solenoid thing..... I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS.} |

Living in Jersey, be careful at first. The Corsa IIIs are sticky when warm, but they're like riding the rims when cold. Oh yeah, get a set of sliders from Keith at Dark Horse. DAMHIK Z |
