Sly - I spoke with Darin (really nice on the phone), he said invoice was 9846. He was even willing to look into shipping to get it to me. I think i'm still going for an 09... But it's good to know what invoice is. Maybe a bit of bargaining w/ dealer? 09's would be about same right? Anyway - thanks Morespeed for the hookup! rob |

That is a DEAL for sure! With all the fence riders out there, you'd think they'd be jumping on this? |

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm a XB12Scg owner looking at the 1125R out of.....well, you guys know how it is... Why would you sell the '08 for an '09? Is there that big of a difference? Are there issues with the '08? Very interested... Went to my local dealer's warehouse and they had a ton of '08s sitting there. Then the post about selling for invoice.... makes me wonder what's up. Thanks for your input. |

Well, retired guys seem to enjoy the 08's and return trips to the dealer. There's a surprise inside everyone of them. Most here say the bike is worth the troubles and some even enjoy the trouble shooting. If thats you get the 08 if not get the 09 and spend your time riding. As a regular reader here it looks like the 09's are far less drama filled. |

Let's not forget that the '08 models can't leave the dealer without the latest recalls completed. Beyond that, what might an individual have to go back to the dealer for? A set of turn signals maybe? That's the only common problem I can think of that isn't resolved by recall work. If that's a big deal, have the dealer change those out before you take delivery... Seems foolish to me to pay thousands more for a bike that saves you what? Maybe one or two trips to the dealership at most? |

Less drama filled? ya probably Far less drama? a bit dramatic, don't you think? I'm beyond happy with mine, over 14k so far. Most fun, amazing machine I've ever thrown a leg over. I'm old, but far from retirement. I do work at a most excellent H-D/B dealership tho... Zack |

You should be pissed that this is happening because now the resale of your BUELL is going to look like the resale of any of the metric sport bikes. just my .02 |

I understand what you're saying, but that's really only a factor for someone foolish enough to sell this magnificent machine! I know that's ridiculous to say in some people's perspective, but I for one plan on handing this beautiful beast down to my children if ever I am too old to remember how to hit the starter... |

Ponti1 +1 The point I am trying to get across is that} everything always goes up in price, inflation, cost of materials ect. As a Buell rider with hopefully at least a decade or more of riding in my future, I know that I will be trading or selling my Buell so I can get another one. Its disappointing to see that the same dealers that will hold to the last penny on a Harley (for those who don't know, a big reason that HDs hold value so well is that dealers do not negotiate much on pricing) are willing to give away and devalue a motorcycle that I believe is worth EVERY penny I spent on it. Due to the discounting that is going on with the 2008 1125Rs trade value is now likely to be about 6k and if many more dealers start selling their 08s for the prices quoted above, you won't be able to sell your used 08 for much more than seven to seventy five hundred dollars. What do all you guys who bought 08's think about those kind of numbers on a bike you bought maybe what 9 months ago? |

Even those non-negotiating hd dealers are slipping a bit from what i've seen on hdforums. Slow market, leftover 08's, repos and new 09's all crammed in. Vehicles always lose much more value than we'd like. Starting the moment you sign the paperwork. |

ODDBALL I think you are missing the point, even in this so called BAD economy HD dealers are "slipping a bit" not dropping their pants. |

Actually, Used Harleys don't hold their value so well anymore and new ones are being sold for well below retail. My buddy down the street just got rid of his 100 anniversary year Sreaming Eagle Deuce after a year of trying for $15,500 that retailed for $28,000 new. He then turned around and bought a 09 Fat Boy for $2000 under retail. It's about supply, demand and lifestyle. Back in the day there was a waiting list for a Harley so there was no reason to discount any price and most were being marked up. I had a dealer write down a price on paper for me once and he wrote $3000.00 for a mark up, just before I laughed and walked out. In more recent years, owning a Harley is a lifestyle that many are willing to pay for. Keeping the price up like supply and demand did in the past. I'm not saying they made a supply and demand situation, that's just how it was. Buell has a lifestyle, but not like Harley's (no offense meant) that people have been willing to pay big money for and they don't have a demand issue since bikes are sitting on the floor. The dealer needs to move bikes so they have to adjust the price to make them move or they are going to sit. It may stink for somebody who just bought one, but that's how it is. Just my opinion on things. (Message edited by dentguy on December 06, 2008) |

1. Its simple supply and demand. Most Buell owners revel in the my Bike is different school of thought. Please keep in mind since they build for a smaller audience its only logical that when used (less desirable) its appeal drops even more. 2. The market is down over all, that don't help anybody. 3. Many have quoted here that they paid top dollar to be the first to own the New Engine. 4. Motorcycles are depreciating assets. 5. As much as many wish to proclaim the bikes trouble free, they will continue to improve the product thus making previous models less desirable. If they don't do this they go out of business. 6. Buell is still struggling to shed past quality/build reputations. Rotax has a great reputation so the bumps in this new model introduction hurt Buell more than they probably should. A trouble free launch would have been ideal, Fixed after a 1st re-flash, ok. 2nd re-flash, ewwwwwww, 3rd re-flash now your down to the die hard fans. Reality is the 2010 1125 series model will be improved and likely cost less when adjusted for inflation much as the current 1200 Firebolt is. You buy the bike because you like it, not because its a good investment. A bike with controversial styling may amplify that effect. Now go ride! |

Some dealer has a youtube ad using the "screw it, let's ride" slogan and plugging their great deals on "hundreds" of bikes. They all know that a few have closed up and there are likely more in trouble. As for the buell side, my closest only lists the 3 07's (2 xb12s and 1 xb12stt) they've sat on forever. By august they were shoving the buells back to the corner. With their layout that'd be a good spot for that store in a store display but i get the feeling they may bail considering their advertising no 09's of any type. I think they may have lost the lone buell enthusiastic salesman I met in 07. The other close one has the 1125 at $9995. |
