I got to tell ya those '09 fuel maps were the cure for everything disabling about the "25r" . On the way home from the dealership yesterday I fell in love with my bike all over again. I even had a chance to school a kid on a Yama literbike on one of MY backroads. He goes by me and gives me the universal wave ( which to me means WANNA RACE) and after a flyby around the outside got about four corners ahead. Now this is where it all goes wrong and right in one place. So after rounding another curve going way faster than I normally would what do I see but a ring tailed bandit in the road. I nailed him and went into my first ever high speed tankslapper(actually 1st ever tankslapper} in my life . I could see every video or text and story I'd ever read on tankslappers race through my mind and realized that chopping the throttle and letting go was not an option ,especially since I didn't have on my leathers just jacket. So I let off a little then back on and muscled it out ........to glory HAHAHAHA!!!! You know those moments where you KNOW you shoulda went down and you cheated death again and let outa furious F-YEAH in my helmet!!! Yeah I've had a few of those moments over the years. Anywhoo my main thought is why would that cause me to lose my front brakes??? When I got to the next intersection at HWY123 I ended up sliding up to it with just my rear brakes. This morning I couldn't find any fluid leaking ,bolts missing or brake pads for that matter. After checking everything and bleeding a couple of times I finally got back my lever. What gives?? Why would they disappear after an impact with nothing obviously wrong with them??? |

Probably knocked the pads back from the rotor. Did you try pumping them after they didnt work? |

Maybe... your brake oil was getting really hot.. and the it loose it's structure.. I think you guys call it fading also.. There is better oil for the brake which will take better care of this problem. Ore maybe some air in the system.. try to get it out (if it's there) First do the air check.. if it's still there in the same conditions, change the oil.. See if it helps.. |

+1 on knocking the pads back and pumping them. I had this happen on my XB when I took a turn to wide and bounced the front wheel off a curb. Had to pump the control probably 20 times to get the pads to re-engage. By the way didn't wreck either when I bounced off the curb. That was just dumb luck! |

Believe me it wasn't from fading I wasn't using any brakes, I was putting as much distance between me and my "opponent". Yeah I think it was from the floating rotor and the violence of the shaking. |

I was doing about 250km/h on my ZX-7 one time and hit a groundhog. I had no time to react and just thought "f***". Looked in my mirror and I cut the poor sucker right in half. Didn't hardly feel me hitting him. Brakes were fine afterward. If the critter feels like a bump, you're going too slow. |
