All- sorry if I haven't been quick to respond to your PM, email, and post here. We have a very nasty Trojan on our computers at our other business. We can't run the cash register, swipe credit cards, access the inventory, etc. Basically, we are dead in the water until we get this fixed. The wife is stressed to say the least. I've been up here since Saturday morning at 6 AM. and still haven't been home. Hopefully I'll make it to work on time. I've been trying to get this fixed since Friday night after I got off of work. I appreciate your understanding and I will catch up with everyone as soon as humanely possible. |

www.avast.com is a good bet for fixing your problem. It's free and works very well. Download it, install it, update it and have it run a boot scan. PM me if you need more assistance. |

Assume everything is compromised. At a minimum, assume every password you have needs to be changed. Sorry That can take a staggering amount of time to clean up the mess. |

D_adams- will do. I appreciate your offer of assistance. Reep- passwords were changed that night. My wife is super-paranoid about doing biz over the internet. Thanks! After the Trojan got us Friday afternoon I have been working on it non-stop until tonight. I didn't even go to work yesterday. We finally got at least one computer fixed. The main one in the office will have to be reformatted. Our computer guy was working with me thru LogMeIn so he could remotely work on them. He spent the last 3 days working on the issue also. He finally had to get with Microsoft for some help. If anyone gets anything that even resembles "XP AntiVirus 2008" get rid of it ASAP. What a bear. I finally got back into our main computer after going into the repair console and fixing some registry entries. It took a long, long time to get to that point though. I have a big love/hate relationship with computers. Really couldn't live without them anymore though. I appreciate everyone's patience that last few days with the lack of email response etc. I'm playing catch up now...... |

Actually, there are three invaluable tools for cleanup and they're all free. Avast I told you about, but then there's also Spy-bot Search and Destroy as well as Adaware. Using all 3 in conjunction will clean out 98% of the crap found on the internet without having to reload a pc. www.avast.com http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html http://www.lavasoft.com/home.php Try those out before you wipe that machine. It might be worth your time and effort. I normally charge $70/hr for this kind of help, but since you're a Bueller.... |
