me in the yellow at no problem raceway Sunday with smoke (tim) right behind me. I know some of you were wondering about the race pads and rotor. This setup combined with the radial master off the xbrr is simply awsome. I need to get used to it though. I found I was braking way to soon going into the corners. Need to move my braking makers forward a bit. No blueing or heat spots on this rotor at all. Great feel also. Not grabby or feeling like they will throw you over the handle bars. Just very strong and progressive! Next move will be to remove the springs from behind the rotor, making it truly floating rotor. Had a little bird who told me about this and I trust his info. I am sure ther will be a bit of noise but I dont care. I was a very rusty on this track though and not happy with how I did. Havent been on the bike in a month and it showed. I did much better last time out, but it wasnt the bikes fault. It was hotter then 600 kinds of hells out there. I believe someone said the track temp was 160. In my car it was reading 101 to 97. The bike did very well in the heat running from 195 to 210 in the afternoon. The hot right foot did rear its ugly head though. Was a fun day but I was not very good today. Need to work on my lines. Next time I will follow smoke around to work on this. It is a huge weak point for me. I can be very fast on parts of the track. Put need some help on other parts, just need to tie it all together. Hell I even ran off the track at one point! I was late braking a guy on a cbr1000 down the straight into turn one. But we ran into traffic. The late braking worked but I would have had to cut across another guys line to make it. So I decided to stand it up and shoot out across the grass from turn 1 to turn 3 at 90 to 100 mph! All that driving up north in the snow and ice really paid off here. I was thinking "no brake, no gas just smooth". Looking to my left I saw I could rejoin the track without getting in anybodys way. I was just praying that there was no curb or big lip getting back on. Thankfully there wasnt and I made it. Funny thing is I didnt even get the hebe gebes or anything from this. Just hit he gas and went right back after that cbr. |

Big E ,I'm jealous and can't wait 'til Sept. when I'll be doing an Inside Pass track day. If I'm lucky I might be able to get one in before then,I really want on a track bad. BTW what's the difference in the two rotors?? |

This one is a bit thicker and handles the heat better. You may see me at eagles canyon in sept also! |

Bigeasy, Great post...just wondering further about the front brake mods. That big of a difference from a stock 11 going radial & race rotor/pads? How do you think it would work for very aggressive street riding...meaning, only using the front brake and really not happy with the power of the stocker? Yep, big difference. I think it would be fine for fast twisty riding. I ride mine on the street all the time. Go with the radial first, if you want more get the pads. Couple things about that radial. If you turn the handle bars all the way to the left. The lever hits the fairing stay slightly. Still need to figure out a way to fix that. Also you need to flip that little clip on the bottom of the triple trees that holds your brake line on. Just turn it around and reattach it. I didnt at first and the brake line rubbed a big groove in my fork tude! You also should add some wd40 to the little clip and pull the brake line down a bit. The other thing you have to do is rotate you thottle grip and assembly forward a bit. So the banjo bolt from the brake line clears the throttle cables. This means you have to cut the little tabs inside the switch house for your throttle grip. No big deal I've done it for years and have not had a problem. About the springs in the brake rotor. I havent done it yet but will remove them soon. Oh yea the radial off the xbrr has a brake switch that hooks right up to your stock wiring, no mods needed there. Guess thats about it. You could go one better and get a Brembo also. Thanks, I think I am doing alright but Tim is still faster then me. Only been track riding a year or less now, but I will catch him. I can hang behind him as he takes better lines which I can follow. Alot to learn, alot to learn!! But thats what makes it fun!! |

No problem! I dont race, just track days and such. Maybe when I get better I may try but work will get the way bigtime. |

I second the race pads. Just finished a 2-day track experience up here at Loudon. Brakes were phenomenal and fade free both days. -Nick |
