So I did my 6200 mile service this weekend and noticed some dark deposits in the front cylinder intake. Actually the tech who did the first service made a note of it at that time as well. My question is could or should you clean these deposits and if so what are the proper techniques and or procedure. Also, I assume you would need some sort of cleaner to dissolve the deposits so what would be the proper product? |

To clean the intake tract through to the exhaust tract: Sea Foam works good, Also there is a product I cant recall the maker but I know the name is something like +KKK. That what we used to use on VW diesels(when I was a tech) to clean intake soot and it works great. Do it in a breezy area though, stuff stinks and smokes. Wont harm O2's or catalyst. Just the throttle bodies: Use spray canned carb cleaner(the fuel injection safe kind). Just spray it on and it should come right off. No need to wipe or scrub. Do this with the motor off. Let it sit for a bit before you start it. |

Thanks for the info Rick. I was kind of hoping one of the Buell Techs would chime in. Especially on the "could or should clean" question? |

I was told to plumb in vacuum lines to the bases of my throttle bodies. THe purpose: After a long hard extended ride attach the lines to a can of Marvel Mystery Oil and "fog" the engine upon shut down. To prevent oxidation of the chamber upon cooling/condensation..Kinda' related |
