85% Complete. Need to clean up some welds, tweak the mount on the lower front to the passenger foot pegs and, make everything pretty by painting. Oh yeah, re-mount the rear turn signals. Alright a little taller windshield and we have the 1125r version of the "t" model. Oh yeah with the Convertabars, Throttlemeister, "S" pegs, Spencer seat and, sound system. Time4Sleep |

Damn, looks pretty good. How much work were the mounts? |

The mounts were $150. Neil's mods to adapt them to the 25r, were ~$40 (material only). Later. p.s. How's Momma's turtle? |

Clean the bike, work on the bike, ride the bike, hmm, obviously I picked the last 2. ;+} Last week it was 93-96 all week long. Our saving grace was scattered showers. They did a GREAT job at cooling you down and...... making the bike dirty. Even though she is dirty on the bottom side, everything else has been cleaned. Tonight the bag hardware gets pulled, cleaned and painted. Also some other finishing touches. TIme4Work. |

Job well done. Looks very professional. You could likely sell your bracket. The bikes weight looks much more balanced with the bags on. I like a lot. |

I cleaned it before I headed home from work. Guess what? I got rained on when I was almost home. Can't win but it sure was fun out running the storm! |

Could you take some pictures of the brackets and give some measurements? |

Josh: "s" level? The "s" pegs have about a 1" drop compared to the stock 25r pegs. Actual work on the mounts required about 8 hours. Cutting, bending, drilling, more cutting, grinding, fitting, more grinding and bending. I used rivet nuts to put threads into the square tube side rail and underseat threaded brace. Each side rail had 3 rivet nuts, one for the mount to the passenger peg mount and 2 for the cross brace. The Givi supplied loop required a bracket to be cut off and a bracket bent for the turn signal mount. If I had to do over, a TIG welder would give me better control, might be able to get by with a real MIG unit with a small head. I had a lot of dressing and a little filler weld work to make things look and function better. It's been too many years since I have welded. Time4Sleep |

I believe an anony stated the stock 1125R location is the same height the "S" pegs on an XB. I guess I could park mine side-by-side to check. |

Isn't the relationship that we are concerned about is the distance b/t the pegs and the seat? When you install the "s" pegs on the 25r you increase the distance to the seat so you are not as cramped. |

Down an inch for the street - an up an inch for the track is what I need. I can't "hook" my knee into the tank with the stock peg location. At least with my new job I get paid to ride all over town! |

More picts as promised (yes she is still dirty!):
The "Loop" with the bag mounting points was purchased from Givi. The side rail is 3/4" square steel tube. The stand off at the rear b/t the 3/4 tube and the "loop" is 1/2" steel tube.
(Notice any leftover Tuber goody?)
Sure looks a LOT better all painted. Now all I have to do is wash the rest of the bike :+}. Later Neil S. |

Neil - awesome job. Kind of neat to see two schools of thought completed on this tail section. I only have one peice of constructive critism - do you have any kind of cross member to keep the bags from bowing inward at the bottom when they're loaded up? You may, I just can't see it in any of the pics. Hell, you might not even need it - I thought I was going to, but the rod I used was strong enough without, just your bag are a bit larger than mine. Job well done. |

Mark: Thanks for the kudos. I appreciate your cross brace comment. I'm still contemplating the best way to do that. I have leftover brackets from Givi that served that purpose and I'm looking at modifying one of those to perform that function. Trying for a bolt in scenario so I can easily R&R the brackets. It's beautiful Neil. Very nice work, looks like just in time for Homecoming. I'll be throwing my soft-bags on and heading out in a little over a week. I'll take a closer look in the parking lot of the Brookfield... See ya soon Z |

Dave: Thanks for the offer but, if you ride them they will get dirty, ahhh such is life. ;+} Heck if I washed then it would attract more rain and the next thing ya know they would be calling me "Noah". As it is I've gotten rained on the last 4 days I rode. I won't melt and now I have plenty of room for rain gear and cleaning goodies. Later Neil |
