Has anyone heard that the re-flash must be done with the bike totally cooled down? My Dealer wants the bike dropped off in the evening and pick it up the next day. Another Dealer I talked to said just bring it in and they would have it down in an hour. I'm wondering what's going on here. Can anyone give some help on this? Thank you. |

hot or cold should not matter...all they are doing is updating the firmware....not an engine tear down |

I was told the same thing, I called BS and they showed me on the bike while hot, no flash then the next morning it took ( i was there to see it). |

Yes, mine had to be cooled down before it would take the reflash. My dealer tried on two other occasions (with the bike hot) and I was sent home without the reflash. Finally, on the third visit/try my reflash took after I waited an hour for the bike to cool down. I believe my technician said it needs to be below 120°........not totally cooled down. Best of luck! |

The engine temperature has to cool down to the point where the ECM powers up and down in the amount of time allotted by the reflash program. Remember at temp the ECM is still controlling fan function and fuel rail pressure. |

I waited and witnessed the entire process when I had the reflash done a month ago in Florida. They did let the bike completely cool down...checked the temps via the key on and checked the coolant temp on the dash at least four times within a 45 minute period...before they wheeled her back to service. I was at the dealer for a little over two hours for the reflash. The actual reflash took less time than my 11 did to cool down! Bottom line, YES, cool down IS required to properly execute the reflash procedures. |

Yes the cool down seems to be a key part in getting the flash to take. I was told there was a risk of frying the ECM if it wasn't cold. They found out the hard way and have already had to replace one. |
