Anyone use this oil in their bike? It's 16 bucks a quart, but one of the local bike dealers gives me a 20% discount on it... Good idea or not?? (Message edited by mustangturbo on May 31, 2008) |

Check out this report. I have no idea if the Motul is in the test. I use amsoil personally. If I was to use another, perhaps easier to find oil, it would be the Mobil 1 V-twin. Enjoy. http://www.amsoil.com/products/streetbikes/WhitePaper.aspx (Message edited by fresnobuell on May 31, 2008) (Message edited by fresnobuell on May 31, 2008) |

Motul did well in the tests run by Motorcycle Consumer News a couple of years ago. It is a 100% Ester base stock oil, which is good. I've used it in the past, and justified the expense to myself at the time. But...truth is, your bike won't be able to tell the difference between that and Syn3 - and with regular changes, a teardown won't show any difference either. FWIW, Jack |

In the euro-car world (porsche, bmw, etc.), Motul and Redline have reputations as the best brands of motor oil. I can buy Redline now on-line... 20W-50 motorcycle oil goes for $11.95 a quart: http://www.redlineoil.com/products_motoroil.asp?pr oductID=110&subCategoryID=25&categoryID=11 |
