On my ride home yesterday there was an R-1 that was playing with me on the straights. I saw him downshift 2x and then WFO. I was able to easily keep up with him w/o too much trouble (surprised me!). We played a couple more times and finally I tired of his toying with me and just motored by him in the low XXXmph range. Needless to say I had a SEG on my face when I let off at 130. I had to get some fuel about 5 miles later. The R-1 driver pulled in and was all agast at what I was riding. His R-1 was a 06' model but he was impressed with the "Twin" being able to keep with him and motor past. I admitted that I caught him in between his HP band. He came back and said: "That's what impressed him so was the broad torque band of the 1125r!" His last comment was where could he get a ride on one? I offered up mine but he declined. Since he lives down around my Dealer I suggested he stop in there. So maybe, just maybe, Buell has made some headway in the REAL WORLD, I think so. (Note to self: stop playing around at XXX digits on the street and without a radar detector!) More s'miles/ gallon and, More Grins with a twin. |

This part is too funny: "was all agast at what I was riding"

Actually I was in KY (431)at the time, I know better than to do this in TN and I have the performance awards to prove it! Yeah I was quite amused when he pulled up and asked "WTF is that thing!". He pulled his helmet off and was just TOO CONFUSED! He went on with I had heard that Buell was up to something but I thought it was just the old H-D done over like in the past! This thing is just way-cool! We do get the grins sometime. Fred, the offer is still open. BTW what is the bar/ eatery in Gallatin that has bike night on Thursday? I am not sure of the bike night eatery in Gallatin. Of course, the old Coach's in Rivergate seems to still host a bike night on Wednesday. |

Color me silly but I'm just that way. I could tell from his ATGATT and such that he wasn't too squidly. Besides that's what insurance is for ;+} Time2Sleep |

That is why I should not buy an 1125r. I don't think I have the self control to keep the machine at stay out of jail speeds. I know idiots would challenge me and I would be an idiot back. I should probably just stay with my heavy, slow FXDX. No one seems to want to challenge me to a race when I am on it. I was worried about a guy on a Yamaha Warrior one time though. I really thought I would have grown up by now. |

CCR ,I had the same experience last night with the new CBR 1K. He was threading the needle and every time he checked his mirror I was still there until I got bored and gave him a flyby. I can't wait to get this thing on the track and have some REAL fun. |

Co-worker of mine bought a 07 R1 recently. Here in ND we are rather lacking on the twisties, so straight running it is. From a roll on (~20 mph) I smoked him to 120 mph (at which point I missed a shift) We only pulled another couple seconds before we started running out of road. Later we switched bikes. His assessment of the 1125R. + WAY more comfortable + Torque everywhere, it flat out pulled + Handled like a dream + Rode like a caddy +/- Front wheel too light, tough to keep down - Front brake, too much dead space before braking action, and not very modular feel. - Too quiet (he has race baffles in the R1) My thoughts on the R1: + Sounds AWESOME with the race baffles + Revs out forever (13.7K Redline) + Short crisp shifter throw - the boys hit the tank too much - Not much power down low - Takes more effort to get to fall into turns - Brakes very aggressive and touchy till you get used to them. All in all, it was cool comparing the two bikes that are in "similar" catagories, but yet are TOTALLY different machines. |

Front brake, too much dead space before braking action, and not very modular feel. The dead space is easily adjusted out by the little silver dial on the control. |

I know, but I kinda like it. Gives me some room to flash the brake light without actually applying the brakes |

I'm all bummed out! I live in SoCal where half the sportbike riders have track experience and flitt about in full up leather. I even got passed by a guy on a BMW 1200 GS!

Why is it a bad thing that the riders are wearing gear and going to the track?? |

Not at all... I was joking Just pointing out they are fast around here! ... maybe also hinting at it is as much the rider as the machine... (Message edited by doerman on June 04, 2008) |

I'm in Des Moines for the next week and a half. I've seen like 3 riders wearing a helmet... and yeah, no leathers. |
