You guys get no sympathy from me. My XB at about 88 HP - could get 45-50 ish MPG Your 1125R at about 130 HP - "only" gets 30 MPG???? WWWAAAAAAHHH! Ride it harder, I bet you can get mileage worse than 20 on a perfectly tuned engine. (Message edited by slaughter on May 04, 2008) |

Too early to tell Gtmg. I had the reflash yesterday and have only put 400 miles the new s/w. That is not enough mileage under varied conditions to be able to tell for sure. Since the reflash, my mpg is 35. Before the reflash it was more like 33 (on average) |

Seems to be a long "break-in" period with this motor. My gas mileage IMO was horrible at about 27mpg. Now with my first service behind me & over 1,000 miles I have jumped to 32mpg which considering the bike & my riding habits I think is respectable. Hopefully I'll get a few more mpg after my reflash on Tuesday. |

I'm pushing 9,000 miles on mine and it's still in the low 30s. I ride like a loon when in the country side -- usual trip on the bike is 350+ miles per day, and it's all "sporting pace". I do very little city/short trips/commuting. I have an ST1300 for that kind of thing. |

Well dang Jim - 9000 miles! Slow down on piling up the miles would you? Or you're going to need the first valve adjustment before the shop manual is out. Good on you. It is meant to be ridden! |

There's no question I'll need a valve job before the shop manual is out. At my current rate of riding, I'll need the valve job next month. My dealer has been really good about being open with me regarding how little support they are getting. So, I call up with them and help bust balls to get the data we need. I figure, they can start calling next week about getting a tech from BMC on an airplane to come teach my local tech at the dealer how the value job is done. I figure I'll have 40,000 miles on the bike before the 2-yr warranty runs out, unless some disaster happens. The reality is, I love to ride. And, I ride a lot. The 1125r is just about the perfect companion for an avid weekend street rider. I'm really happy with the bike. |

There is available and I have the dvd of how to perform the valve lash adjustment. Also there is an online service manual draft with limited sections available mind you, that includes valve lash adjustment through H-Dnet. If anyone needs the info I can try to provide it as long as it doesn't get me in trouble with copyright legal stuff. |

Finally remembered to check my mileage. Got 28 mpg and riding style is spirited to aggressive. I guess I don't mind that it isn't as high as the XB's. Gotta pay to play. |

My 07 Aprilia RSV only gets 34 mpg on average with it's rotax set to map 2, and leo Vince slip-ons. My 02 X1 can get as high 55 mpg. |

I agree that the ECU's AVG MPG is accurate. I've calculated it myself from time to time and get the same results (rounded to whole numbers). I also have experienced improved mileage post-update. Was averaging 29, now averaging 32 and got up to 34 on a 500 mile spirited ride last weekend. Will surpass 10K miles this weekend. |

My MPG was initially 30-32 for every tank. After first service, went to 31-33. After reflash and some more miles, now seeing 34-37. |

Still at 37 avg. Quite consistent, has been there since break-in was done. Reset numbers about 1k miles back. In the garage now with 8000 on ODO. Z |

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't more miles per gallon relate to a more lean condition? on an already almost too lean map? (elevation not withstanding) JJ |

Dealer only had her for a day or two of testing and I got her back, still rough. I'm running just a hair on the rich side. Pulled the rear plug, it was a dark reddish color. Talked to the hot shot wrench and he smiled and said Black Cherry. That's good. Finger up the tail-pipe is a little sooty. No she's not smooth, I try to stay out of lower rpms. I don't like it as much as I did, but I kinda forget when I twist the wick. Z |

I work at SkipFordyce HD/Buell in Riverside, CA as there new Buell specialist(store within a Harley store, 1 of 3). I have ridden one of our newer demo bikes/Jan 08 built on the highways, canyons(ortega HWY), night and day and the average is 29/30 MPG hwy, less in city traffic of course(25)..I do ride it hard at times and over 65mph when I can on these highways(traffic). It is a new bike and had 200+miles on it and now has over 400+ in 2 days...no problems with the bike and I still wonder if it had the ECM flash...keep the posts. Happy Buelling.... Rob |
