We all know what the book says... Anybody out there have suspensions tweaks for aggressive riding? Please post here... |

I have the aggressive settings for the XB. Dunno how well they would work on the 1125R. |

I wrote these down (haven't tried them yet) based on the thread below where Bigeasy suggested these settings to Bob_Thompson for a rider in the 170 weight range. Bob seemed to like them. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/347372.html?1208129852 Art/Bob did I translate this correct? Front: Preload - 4.5 Compression - 1.75 Rebound - 1.75 Rear: Preload - 3 Compression - 20 Rebound - 2.75 |

Bryan(Spectrum), Yes those are close but for me (165 lbs) front preload is just 4 and rear is still at 1. I might try #2 rear preload as Art suggested but right now after last weekends aggressive ride I'm satisfied and thrilled. This thing turns by just thinking it and it does just what I want. Just look into a corner and it responds. Front dive on aggressive braking is not severe also. I'm not inclined to wheelie so no needs there. These things are nice and easy to adjust. It would make track riding quite an experience. Maybe at Millers this year?..........Stay safe, Bob |

Not inclined to wheelie? Didn't think that was an option on this bike! |

Are you finding that you don't like the settings recommended in the manual? I set mine per those instructions, and am pretty happy with it. Maybe I just don't know what I like well enough to know what I'd like to improve? |

I think the settings in the manual are pretty good for the street. They are a bit on the soft side (at least for me). When I start riding more aggressively I feel the suspension working a lot more. I'll probably try the next weight range up to see if it stiffens it up a bit. Overall, the suspension is pretty plush. |

The settings in the manual seem good on the street. I took it to the track and the suspension settings didn't feel right (too soft or plush...). My latest settings are: Front Preload = 7 Front Compression = 1.75 Front Rebound = 1.5 Rear Preload = 6 Rear Comp = 13 Rear Rebound = 2.25 |

Ah the track indeed. 7 preload up front? Really seems a bit high to me but how did it feel?

Buellnick, you said "the settings in the manual seem good on the street" if you ride (aggressively) on the street, what would be your settings, or would they still be the same as the manual, as it probably should be a compromise to be able to absorb and handle the irregularities of the road whereas on most tracks they are "relatively" smooth. Thanks again to Bigeasy for a good start for me. |

The 7 up front is based on the manual (yes I am in that weight range with all my leather gear on). On the street it was very good. On the track it was still a bit plush up front. I want to feel more of the little things on the track. I have to play with the damping some more. I tried different settings at the track but I haven't quite nailed down the front settings. If damping adjustments don't do it, I may dial back some preload to give the bike a little more front bias and then adjust damping from there. My rear settings have high preload and damping. The rear of the bike is very close to where it should be for me... I need to sort out the front. Too bad I don't have a track available in my back yard. I recall similar "feel" problems on my XB until I dialed in Shawn Higbee's settings. The "feeling" changed big time for the better. Maybe one of the professionals out there will publish some recommended settings...soon. (Message edited by Buellnick on April 18, 2008) |

Hey Bigeasy... The "7" setting doesn't feel stiff enough on the track. I am reluctant to go higher. I am also running much lower airpresssures on the track and that is an additional variable. What settings do you use? Tire pressure? weight? |

I have now tried the settings I posted above (from bigeasy), street only and haven't had a chance to get out on the twisties yet. In general much stiffer than the 170# settings in the owners manual. Wash board pavement is a little rough, but not kidney jarring. Overall feel for the road and tires is much improved over the cushy feeling owners manual settings. Steering is a little unstable at low speeds (creeping speed at traffic lights), but this also equates to better high speed turn in. In colder weather hard bumps are a little too rough, but once the ambient temperature is in the 70's or above this goes away. This is defiantly a better place to start for trackdays. It is not as plush a street ride, but not so bad I can't tolerate it on occasional rough pavement. With the weather warming up, I think I'll keep these settings for a while even on the street. Hopefully I'll get a chance to test them with some more aggressive riding in the next couple of weekends. |

I reduced the front to 6.5 and increased damping. This is much better... Less is better on the front spring... More is better on the rear spring... Putting the bike "on its nose" a little definitely feels better. |

Thats what I thought to. Have to run to work right now will post settings laterq. At the track I was running 30-31 psi front and 29 to 30 rear. Seem to be right on once they warmed up, great tires!! Oh yea I weigh 210lbs in gear. (Message edited by bigeasy on April 23, 2008) |

I'm a little heavier with gear which is why I need higher preload numbers. Looking forward to the BigEasy post on suspension and tire pressures. Last track day, I ran 32 front and 33 rear. The front could have been a little lower. The rear built up enough heat and stickiness after a lap or two. I need to lower the rear pressure to build heat a little faster... |

For the 230-250lbs range... Front Preload: 6.5; Comp Damping= 1.25; Rebound = 1.38 (coincidently it ends up dot to dot) Rear Preload: 6; Comp Damping: 13; Rebound: 2.25 Tire pressures: For track: 32psi Front and 32 rear. |
