Anyone need the part # for an engine!!! I couldn't believe when I walked in my bike was in two pieces. I guess I'm not going to be doing a whole lot of engine work during my warrantied years!

Blazen I wish you the best with your new motor. I do not know if true but I had asked about buying a 08 ulysses motor and was told buell does not sell motors like harley does. This might be true my friend went to buy tools listed in the big harley custom parts book and was told they do not sell tools, I was shocked, I do not know what is going on with harley and buell? I just found out on the 08 XB motors they went to a single phase charging system that is only 405 watts and 30 amps this is less than the 1125R, My 06 ulysses has a 3 phase 495 watt 38 amp charging system, why would they come out with the new XT a sport tourer and give it a less output charging system when a touring bike should have the best most powerful charging system? Anyway I hope you are trouble free now. |

man those things are not cheap. if you had to pay for that motor you would be money ahead to part out the whole bike out and just buy a new one. |

>>>>I had asked about buying a 08 ulysses motor and was told buell does not sell motors like harley does. That's an inaccurate statement. But . . .oddly enough I notice (I have my 2008 1125R manuals here but only my 2007 XB series motor manuals) that the DX series is oddly missing from the 2007. There may be such a thing that the Ulysses is the only motor they don't sell..but I doubt it. In the 2008 1125R manuals . . . right there on page 6 is a picture of an entire motor and the part number. Should be no problem. |

I was quoted $4500 for a new motor for the Firebolt. Try buying a japanese motor, oh wait....YOU CANT. I blew the engine in my four wheeler and I had to buy it piece by piece, and the four pieces I needed were damn near as much as a used bike! |

I will have to ask my new dealership if they do, I am just curios and looking for a used 08 down the road off of ebay, I am not in any rush to get one and had asked before buying the 1125R so now I have the bike and that is on the back burner, I am sure in a year or two there will be someone parting a bike out and then I can pick it up, I want a 08 motor with a big bore kit when my son get tired of the ulysses and wants a new bike I will buy it back from him, I would put the 06 motor in a custom frame and build a big bore ulysses, he really wants a sportster type bike so maybe doing a custom bike for him with the ulysses as the donor bike, there are a couple of frame makers starting to make frames for the xb motors so that is a road we might go down and is what I do best, customizing. |

I'm fine except for the empty cold spot under the carport next to the other bikes. I think no rice posted the part # in an earlier thread, they're the '02-'04? silver stock XB wheels. The finger follower in the front cylinder went bye bye. Since Buell is following and logging everything with this engine and since they were concerned there might be some minute pieces might have gotten sucked in they didn't want to take any chances. The finger follower pieces(all 5) were found but there was some slight scarring so better safe than sorry. So break-in will begin again this weekend. Don't anybody freak out, there have only been 2 engines to be replaced, the 1st due to an unrelated problem out of La. and I'm lucky #2. Buell has been great about this whole thing. I just wish I could've had back for the long ride to Badness. |

"Only two engines replaced and both are BadWeBbers??? Wow, blows the statistics. " Or, reinforces the theory that Badwebbers hear more about other Badwebbers' problems, and not the rest of the world's? OR, Badweb is encompassing ALL Buell riders? I ordered an XB9R motor for a customer from Buell once (It was a good-will job). Motor came in, correct motor number, but minus a rear cylinder. 'Yup. I ordered an XB9 engine, and got a Blast engine. Since the motor number renders the motor essentially useless in another vehicle, I wonder what happened to that Blast engine.... |
