so the wife and kids and i took a ride to a dealer that had one in stock and finally got to see it. i was excited to find it right inside the front door actually ahead of all the HD's even. My first impressions were, this thing is a stunner the pods just about disapeared as i looked it over and i was very impressed with the bike overall. once i got on it i was amazed at the space the bike offered in the riding positionand that i could easily get behind the fairing without any contortions. in my opinion if import riders are willing to give the 1125 a chance buell will have a home run on their hands. now a few downfalls that i noticed: i hate the exhaust! something about that pipe just ruined the overall layout of the bike(but im sure that will not be an issue once the aftermarket catches up). As a welder by trade i was very dissapointed by the frame welds on the bike. there was welding spatter all over this thing, and i was surprised that Q.C. would not have caught it, it was really bad. well thats it 2 things i didn't like not to bad at all. the last thing i have to say is this: when i saw my first XB my heart stopped i loved these bikes from day 1. and it killed me to wait as long as i did to actually own one.as much as i liked the 1125 i didn't get that feeling again and when i got home opened the shed and looked at the cityX i got it as i do every time. 1125R very cool bike and i wish all the owners the best of luck and many great miles, but it just isn't for me. |

Ah you haven't rode one yet now have you? Cause if you had, I'd bet you'd be singing a different tune. |

the looks were not what sold me. with it sitting in my garage i am liking the looks more, but i still am not in love with the look like i amd my firebolts. what sold me was the couple days i spent on the preproduction ones at road america. it could have been REALLY ugly and theres a good chance i would have still tried to buy one. |

no rice i still do really want to demo one but the dealer i was at today informed me they are not offering any demos because their GM is afraid people will get hurt on it due to power...i told him it might be at least a good idea to let current buell owners try it.we'll see |

Hmm, well I guess that's always a concern for dealers regardless of the bike. I found the 1125R easier to ride than my XB9S, although I'm sure if you didn't respect it, one could get themselves in trouble a lot easier on an 1125R. |

Seen one in person today,I have to say the pods din't look as bad as they do in pictures, unfortunately I found the giant fairing butt ugly.IMHO the 1125 is UGLY and,I will be going another way when it's time for a new bike. |

I too saw one 1/19/08 in person. I was surprised at how large the front fairing was compared to my XB12R. I thought the rear tail looked out of place as the bodywork tapers way down after the riders seat, towards the back. Maybe a wider tale end on the bike to fit the rest of the lines. The thing that keeps selling me on Buells is when I ride them, no other feeling like it! |

T9r, guaranteed you won't be thinking about what the tail looks like when you're riding one (1125R). You'll be more worried about what you're about to run into and laughing out loud in your helmet 'cause you got there so damned fast! (at least that has been my experience thus far) JJ |

T9r - If you take off the giant DOT req taillight/license/blinker hangar, the lines flow very nicely from wide front to pin-tail rear.

I still think that is the best looking seat assembly on a sport bike. It fits the 1125 perfect in depth with the deeper tray. Width was perfect as was. Considering how tiny many of the other sport bike seat sections are compared to the rest of those bikes they look like angular 1930s tractor seats stuck to the back of them. Not so here Thank You! Too small? That's a very strange opinion IMHO. |

Not too small. Too Narrow. I envision a wide 1098 seat. Though I am not sure what other members expect. Plus it is a little dated. |

Notice I said width was perfect? When you stand in front and look straight on the windshield of the front fairing its "horns" turn right into the tail section perfectly. When you stand directly to the bikes rear it lends itself to a near perfect area rule "coke bottle" effect. In fact it might of looked a bit too wide on my 12R with the narrow fairing and before I put on the frame pucks. It has a really nice flowing profile along the top when viewed from the side and the deeper under tray thickened it up enough to match the radiator pods. Any wider would just look ugly, kinda in the way the 'busa's humpback tail is way too tall for it's width and length. (Message edited by unibear12r on January 24, 2008) |

I think the Busa is Fat all over spreading it's ugly evenly. The 1125R has matched Bits of Firebolt clean lines tail-tank with the ugly bunched up at the scoops-fairing-muffler. |

LOL, I do agree with your opinion of the 'busa anyway. Just not the 1125. By no means am I saying that I couldn't tweek the 1125's styling a bit and make it a bit more pleasing to my eye. But I suspect some things would be less effective. On the other hand I don't find the bike ugly or a miss match at all. In fact one of the reasons I wanted the bike is because it had an almost unchanged R tail. |

Today was the day. I dragged my recovering body down 840 to M-boro and finally saw one live and in person. Pictures do not do it justice! You know you can always find a bad direction of viewing ANYTHING! Yes some angles do not compliment the 1125r. In all other views, the normal street views, this bike ROCKS! I sat on it, tried not to drool, and it sits pretty much like my 'Bolt but, narrower and more space than the 'Bolt. With "s" pegs and a modified top triple tree (thank you Mr. Al), this "girl" will fit me better than my 'Bolt. Sorry to say but, I'll be putting my 'Bolt up for sale in order to bring the 1125r home. All I have to do now is ride one to confirm my feelings and get my tax's done. I should be on an 1125r by the 1st or 2nd week in March! Time2recover and DREAM (Lust is not so bad is it????) Neil S. |

I went to High Country yesterday and saw it for the first time. Think of the best pictures you've seen. That is what it looks like. The bad pictures make the pods look really stupid, but it does not really take on those proportions up close. I met Dave from the board, really good guy. |

Sorry to say but, I'll be putting my 'Bolt up for sale in order to bring the 1125r home. That's probably a good idea. You're never going to ride it again anyway after you bring home your 1125. Might as well let some one else enjoy the R and take good care of her Pre Congrats on the bike that shall rock your world |

John, If we had a little less ice, sand, gravel, and magnesium chloride on the road, and it was 40 degrees warmer, it would be killer riding right now. Hey, Dave at High Country has a demo bike that I want to check out. Does Rocky Mountain have a demo too? |

Alot of people complain about how the 1125 starts wide in the front and tapers toward the rear. I thought about it and believe it to be an act of genius. If you remember back to how they designed the wings of aircraft, you know wide in front and tapering back, like a tear drop then it makes sense to make the bike with this shape. The wing works by allowing faster moving air to flow over the top of the surface allowing for lift due to the fact that faster flowing air generates less pressure. So in part, the faster moving air around the sides of the bike allows for less pressure buildup and ultimately less turbulence which causes drag. Just my idea for it, and they did design the bike in the tunnel. It may be wrong but i like this explanation. |

Neil, The key is in mine and you know where I live. I ought to have 600 miles on it this weekend, don't know when it will make it to the dealer, but I'm sure its safe to play until then. |

Brad, head up to HC-HD Saturday and take a look at Loretta after her liposuction. Had most of the folks at Sun ogling it Friday. I'm gonna swing by High Country for a visit with Dave and see if my mirror is in yet. Looks like we finally get a good weekend, bring your 'Busa, I've never actually seen one. Set a time and I'll see ya there. Zack |

Scott, No demo at Rocky Mt. yet. I rode the buell there and the roads were good. I was hoping on riding it but they said only if I was more serious about buying it. So you probably could take it for a ride if you wanted to. |
