Well my 1125r should be in on Thursday and I've been looking at a lot of pictures. Two things stand out to me on what I'm going to do to make this already beautiful motorcycle look even better. 1. Paint the Heat shield on the rear pipe black. 2. I'm going to see if a Firebolt under tray, tail light, and license plate bracket will bolt up. Don't know if the under tray will need to be switched out but man I don't like that fuggly license plate bracket sticking way out the back. I'm sure that it is the result of DOT or some regulation somewhere. Those are the ONLY two things I'd like to change. What do you think? |

I was thinking the same thing with the rear cheese-grator looking thing. I think I would ditch the belt guards and hugger fender too. |

Paint the Heat shield on the rear pipe black You mean like Buell has it in photos in the large 8x11 brochure? |

yep. We have a process at work - sinter coated Teflon that looks very close to the same color as the frame. It's applied similar to a powder coating process, then baked and is good to withstand 500F. I will leaving the underside of it uncoated so it will still reflect the heat. I might have a third mod, removing the upper belt guard. |

I take it the "cheese grater" is made out of plastic this time? If so, does it look easy to trim off and shape up? |

Just the passing switch. Al doesn't need lights in Sunny CA. The goodies will flow soon, Al is great at that. He's probably staying up all night measuring and thinking! Neil S. |

Ebear and I were playing with it for a few hours last night and came up with a half dozen or so farkles that need to be created. I'm itching to get started on it, but American Sport Bike is rolling out a new IT/accounting/inventory control system and my next few weeks are consumed with more mundane things like data migration and training. But I will be working on things just after the first of the year. Carbon fiber tooling work has already begun. Al |

To me the heat shield and exhaust are a total misrepresentation. They look a lot worse in person, bad welds, clamps, heat shield. Looks nothing like the brochure pics. Also has anyone noticed the rear brake line and caliper being just inches from the exhaust? (first recall?) Also, the model we received the other day did not come with the "cheesegrater" Do they come with it or was mine left out? |

Also, the model we received the other day did not come with the "cheesegrater" Do they come with it or was mine left out? It should have the cheese grater. Mine has one. Its made out of some kind of composit material. Grinding it off today after work. |

That's a brutally negative assessment and quite an irresponsible prediction about a recall, pretty much a show stopper if I were giving credence to your comments and looking to purchase. Are you really a "Buell Salesman"? Geesh! Maybe you're looking to move to the local Honda dealership instead? |

I think they are referring to the "S" style "cheese grater" - I was originally talking about the 1125r "license plate / turn signal bracket". Some confusion in that they are not one in the same? Similar function but different appearance. |

Pardon me for being honest. Maybe that's not what people are looking for in a salesman. The problem is obvious though. But you're intitled to disagree. I'm somewhat disappointed. Still a great bike. I've ridden it and believe in it and Buell Motor Company. It just needs some improvements. As for the local Honda dealer they're also a good company and I'd be flattered. |

But Blake I will admit my prediction of a recall was in haste. It may be an ingenuous design. |
