All of the above plus it's built by hard working Americans.

Got tired of the "other" thread. Good way for those who like the bike to tell the world "why" they like it...

Makes more sense than the "other thread".

I got rid of my Firebolt so I could get an 1125R because the Firebolt was the best bike I've ever ridden, much less owned. From the "git go" all the reports from those who've ridden it are that the 1125 is MUCH better than a Firebolt.

I'm going crazy, waiting.

1. I love V-Twins, always have preferred the V-Twin configuration to inline 4's.

2. Competitive V-twins (Aprilia, KTM, Ducati) are more expensive for similarly performing models.

3. Competitive V-Twins are harder to get (Aprilia, KTM and Ducati dealers are few and far between).

4. Competitive V-Twins are hard to service (parts are coming from overseas, dealers who offer those bikes generally focus on other bikes and the exotics only account for less than 5% of their business so they aren't experts or focused on them - you're also much more likely to be able to find a Harley dealer on a road-trip than you are Ducati, Aprilia or KTM - I'm always curious when I read complaints about Harley dealers if the poster has ever tried to have a Ducati serviced by a Hondazukikawama dealer.

5. I've been waiting for a bike like this for the past 30 years - ever since I was a little kid, I've been reading bike magazines and wondering why no-one in the US could build a bike that could go head-to-head with the rest of the world.

6. Erik Buell is the definition of the American dream and his idea of what a great bike should be matches my idea of what a great bike should be and bit-by-bit, piece-by-piece he has been methodically building to this point. I have to support that effort since I've been saying for the past 30 years that's what I want.

7. I love that Buell - with the introduction of the original XB has shown the world that all motorcycles don't have to look and function identically. For a while there, I was genuinely concerned that all motorcycles would converge to becoming nearly identical.

8. Wind protection. Sport bikes seem to have been focusing too much on stream-lined looks at the expense of real wind protection.

9. Just look at the photos of the line putting these bikes together and see the love and passion in their eyes. This is more than job and more than a 'thing' to them.

10. Try finding a web-site like this for other brands.

Most Excellent list of ten... The Erik Buell American Dream part (#6) is important to me as well.

Male menopause. Delayed mid-life crisis. I'm 56 and have never owned a sport bike.

Because I just want one.

I kept the XB9R and got rid of the BMW R1100S to make room for the 1125R. I've seen a lot of good reasons for getting an 1125R in this tread and I concur with most of them.

But for me there's something more....
I am part of the choir, since I've owned Buells since 1995. But there's more to it than that.

Every now and then an event unfolds. An event who's significance is not understood until later. But you feel it is important and it is something special.

All the milestones along the way, from the Owners Launch Party in Monterrey to the Inside Pass events, to seeing the transformative electricity at my dealer. Not to forget the excitement at BMC itself and for most of us in the BadWeB community. All those things add up to one thing; a product is being produced that is much more than the sum of its parts. Some call it the ugly duckling. Somehow this "ugly duckling" has really won my heart.

When I rode it at the inside pass I felt immediately comfortable on the bike and could picture myself on it for long trips as well as canyon fun. The choice I had made months before (putting down a deposit) was immediately justified. You can't really appreciate this bike until you have ridden one. When you do, you're in for a pleasant surprise.

Well, right now I have a 2002 M2L which will always be with me. After reading huge amounts about this new Buell, Im thinkin this time next year, I'll buy me one of them puppys. By then, the wife will be riding the M2 on her own. She's kinda light and I'll need a bike that can whup her.....

1. Because it's even better than an XB at answering the question "Why did you buy a Buell?".

2. Because, just like the XB, there's almost nothing on it that doesn't make it go, stop or turn.

3. Because the 1098 is a poser bike (very capable for sure, don't get me wrong). I've never been much for conformity.

4. Because I've been to Wisconsin, I heave friends there and I've always liked the attitude of the people and the place. I won a slot car racing championship in Eu'Claire (SP?).

5. A lot of the same reasons I bought an XB. I like the design principals and engineering genius put into the Buells.

6. Previous experience with Buell has been good.

7. I'd like to see the company continue to succeed.

8. I've met Erik twice and he's a really cool guy. I'd bet that pretty well everyone at Buell is at least tolerable : ).

9. The technology in the frame/brakes/geometry etc just makes sense to me. I don't care if it's "normal" or not. It makes sense and works on the racetrack. Even better... It works WONDERS on the street : ). Miracles even : ).

10. Because I can.

Almost all of the things that were quoted above plus as seen in my profile "its what I tried to build in 1975 as my expression of the ultimate sport bike and at which Erik succeeded marvelously". And its AMERICAN "Made in U.S.A." Thanks again Erik, Bob

How about I LIKE IT and I don't need to explain it. It's always been that way with Buells either you "get it" or you don't.

1. I deserve another toy
2. American made
3. Reasonably priced
4. Lots of power
5. High cool factor (everything about it is bad ass)
6. Good looking
7. Different
8. Controversial
9. Lots of people hate it (makes me like it more)
10. Like Doerman said, this is a very significant event / milestone for Buell and H.D. & I want to be part of it. Besides I was going to buy another bike anyway and the 1125r just happens to be exactly what I want.

I bought a new M2 in 2000 and loved it! After 14,000 miles I traded it in for the first XB12R to arrive in the state and have loved it! Now just over 24,000 miles later, I'm patiently waiting for my 1125R to roll in as I'm trading the XB for it.

My Buells have never disappointed, I'm proud to have owned them and the third generation promises to be even more fun!!

Lots of people hate it (makes me like it more)

Haha. Me too. But other than a few people on Badweb who incessantly gripe about it, I am not so sure that so many people hate this bike. The press reviews for the most part have been very encouraging (except in the good 'ol UK, of course). My riding friends & others that might have a clue all dig it (small sample size, I know). I don't think there are as many haters out there as you might think.

I can't wait until we get some production bike testing--it will to rest all this speculative BS that has been getting so deep around here. It is an exciting time for sure.

Ultimately it will be because I had the opportunity to test-ride it on the Inside Pass day and it handles/performs perfectly for what I'd want in a bike.

I don't even care that it is "American" (whatever that means) - the 1125R is the best answer to all my questions.

O.K. Since no one will admit it...Because Wifey said I could get one! after I !!! She reached into her purse and handed me a couple little things and said I could hold them for a while so I quickly made a call and spent money! before she took them back!

Really, I love the XB9 but need more power. 1125R fits the bill better than anything out there for me. It's a Buell!!! 'Nuff said.

No, Capt., The check book and a calculator! !!!

I knew that sounded funny, just keepin' the mood light.

More Power is exactly right. Never in my life have I wanted to spend so much money on something fun. Thought I've been in heaven with the XB9. Lord knows where the 1125R will take me.....can't wait to find out.

1-Rotax engine (finally a descent engine)
2-Power (Usable power that is, not just high end)
3-Handeling
4-Low seat height (compared to other sport bikes)
5-Ergos (again compared to other sport bikes)
6-Low maintenance (I hope)
7-Price (compared with European sport bike imports), best overall bang for the buck
8-Quiet zone (seams to have more wind protection then other sport bikes)
9-Dealer’s everywhere (compared to European imports)
10-Uniqueness
11-Weight
12-Fuell mileage (compared to in-line 4’s)

Ten wasn’t enough for me. I had to go the extra mile, just like Erik did in the making of this superb piece of engineering.

I'm very happy with my P3, XB12Ss, and the XB12X. I want to keep them all. I'm still buying a 1125R because...

  • Buell's reputation and my experience with their excellent reliability.
  • Buell's innovative out of the box solutions for their own unique design requirements.
  • Buell is an American Company that makes Motorcycles here in the US.
  • I believe in the "Trilogy of Tech". I just makes sense.
  • I love the design solutions of the 1125R transition to liquid cooling.
  • I like the large fairing. Please hurry it's getting colder here.
  • Belt Drive! I'm sold.
  • Handling qualities that I've watched and read about seem world class.
  • It has headlights.
  • It doesn't look like my buds japomatic or anything else for that matter except maybe another XB.
  • It has a few more ponies.
  • It's within my price range

And I could go down a list of every component that I think are great. There are many.
Good Job Guys.

>12-Fuell mileage (compared to in-line 4’s)

Since the test riders were reporting low 30MPG on the street, I would not bet on your 12th reason to be accurate. My buddy's 02 GXSR 1000 gets low 40s.

I'll be happy if the 1125R gets high-30s like my FJR, but I'm not expecting it to.

Buell has yet to post fuel milage info.
