According to Cycle World and other bike mags, journalists who rode the 1125R at Laguna Seca and surrounding CA countryside were encouraged to give feedback to the R&D department. This unprecedented move by Buell was pretty cool and allowed an experienced press corps to make comments on the pre-production bikes before the new model hits the showrooms.

Some of the complaints made to Buell by these journalists were with a "surge during mild acceleration" possibly due to the calibration of the closed-loop fuel-injection.

Another complaint was with the belt drive design called the Immediate Throttle Response System, which resulted in what was called "herky-jerky on-off throttle reactions".

Then there was the heat radiating off of the exhaust headers that baked boots and shins.

Some noticed that "the mirrors vibrated too vigorously throughout the rev range to be of much use", and that the indicator lights were too dim to see in the sun light.

There was a suggestion to quiet the rear brake "which squeals like a dump truck coming to a halt."

What "problems" were considered valid by Buell and what are the changes made (if any) to address these concerns?

Jimidan,

It looks like you are new to the 1125 discussions here. All of these questions have been discussed in great detail under various topics here since the first reports came out. You should read through the various topics and I think you will find answers. Other than that I think we have to wait for bikes to ride or for the next batch of road tests.

I am not new to the discussions here, but I cannot say that I have read every comment either. But my intention was not to get the lay poster's opinion or speculation about these issues, but rather to get an Anony to comment about what Buell is actually doing with regards to this input.

I think that Buell should make an official announcement to allay any concerns that potential buyers (like me) might have after reading some of the moto mags reviews. I am hoping that the 1125R is released in a form that is "ready for prime time", as Cycle World calls it.

By now, the Buell R&D staff should have already evaluated all of the input and made whatever changes that they are going to make. They should address these issues head on as valid or invalid, corrected or uncorrected. They went to all of the trouble to host the journalists and collect their input, so why not publicize what they are doing? It would be good for business, don't you agree?

Speculation is just that...and I do not recall any Anony speaking to these complaints directly, but I could be wrong.

I heard today, that the baking foot problem was taken care of, and the suspension problems they had were fixed, but that's all I remember.

Sounds like you want independent road tests of the final production bike before you buy a bike Jimidan, sounds prudent.

They should be coming out soon!

If you can find a dealer that has not sold out the years inventory to less prudent people then you, you can probably take a test ride.

I had a nice long test ride, on a track, on a *pre* production 1125r. It may or may not have been a fixed up version of the Laguna launch bikes. If there was a defect on the bike I was riding, I couldn't find it. If it was a lightning version, and they had a refinancing guy at the track, I would have taken the bike I lapped on the track (pre-production and that has been abused by many others on the track) home with me without a moments hesitation.

Jimi, time to come up to Cycle-Connection and test-ride one. They will have a dedicated Demo bike for one year.

That sounds like a fine validation of the bike to me. I am very excited about riding this bike...for the first time in years.}
