Hmmm...following yesterday's euphoria, I'm not exactly crazy about the nose, it's too high and it looks dorky. Here's my take on it: Before - lol
After - much better
And that exhaust needs some serious work - Jeez what were they thinking ? |

Hi, first of all, the dogbone exhaust is a again a genius strike of the company. It bring the constructors needs of bikes low center of gravity and mass centralization together with ground clearence. If you have not the space for a one piece underengine exhaust, why not split it in two pieces? Well done! This idea impress me. But we live from the aftermarket business, so two of our exhaust maker standing "raceready" to work out alternatives (Termignoni and Exan). We and our italien partner Angelo ordered both one of the bikes. So let the party begin. Jens |

12R, I agree with you. Your version is MUCH better. But maybe the original fairing gives better aerodynamics and wind protection. For me the swingarm is really nice. I also like the exhaust. |

i spent a lot of time last night on the buell minisite, it is for wind resistance, yes, your version looks better, but overall id stick with factory for comfort and performance |

the racebike will need a fuller fairing, i bet we see some nice styling changes from that addition alone. you could match the lines from windscreen to radiator scoops to belly pan covering the muffler. cant wait to see some alternatives but for now...... GO BUELL!!!!!! |

"..But maybe the original fairing gives better aerodynamics and wind protection..." I think you've hit the nail on the head. The airflow streams there need to part and flow to the radiator intakes. That might explain what otherwise looks to be unnecessarily complicated shape. Aerodynamics and cooling are complicated stuff, maybe they got this one right. Jack |

Jon- I appreciate that, but I wouldn't go that far. hahaa ;) lovin' the dash layout though, VERY clean. check it out, even with some different paint (black) and a belly pan added the bike takes on a different shape up front. the angles flow better, making the shrouds not feel as out of place...

I'm Flash-impaired here, so seeing as how you've got the basic image ready, what can you do with those bloomers on the bike? I'm speaking of those big blouse-like objects that appear to be akin to the Breadbox of the tuber days. Those are what really jumps out at me. I'll have to wait and see one in person, just like I'm still waiting to see a TT in person. Looks like I'll still be looking for a new bike. Nice though. Is the new fairing mounted on and turn with the front forks, or is it frame mounted and stationary? |

I don't care where you put the front fairing, those jet fighter scoops look retarded from every angle. I'm glad I didn't wait to get my 03 XB. The new White/Blue 12R is HOT HOT HOT, but other than the motor and the SIX HEADLIGHTS, if the 1125R were Buell's only offering, I would have a Honda. |

SO WHAT IS THAT ROD RUNNING DOWN THE BACKSIDE OF THE FRONT FORK? damn caps! and yes i agree, my main problem with the new bike is how the front fairing is up and out infront of the front fender. pull it back 3 or so inches, maybe down, get rid of that new license plate mount and i really like it. from head on that thing looks pretty mean though (Message edited by no_rice on July 09, 2007) |

Viewing angle and perspective make a big difference. Even in 12R's revision, if you move the viewpoint/camera a little to the left (parallel to but towards the rear of the bike) you'd have the same issue with the right side convector nacelle appearing to protrude too far forward.

Regardless of the viewing angle, the front fairing on the 1125R is sitting more to the front and higher, than the front fairing of the XB12R. This is obvious by looking at the distances of the handlebars to the front fairing and comparing the two bikes. From the pictures, the front of the 1150R is looking too big, and not in harmony with the rear. On the other hand the front of the XB12R looks better and in harmony with the rear. Maybe Buell should consider moving the fairing closer to the bike and sacrifising a little wind protection, for better aesthetics. In this case better wind protection could be achieved with an aftermarket bigger/better shaped screen. Or even better, have 2 different adjustable positions for the front fairing, so that the rider can choose what he prefers. But in any case, the 1125R is my next bike. |

YEah... I think that wet sanding the intakes is the best option. I think the fact that they reflect stuff makes them look way too big. Not that they aren't a little too large anyhow, but I think a flat color will help to hide it. Maybe if they were the same color as the cases, with the front portion (the part that's already flat) the same color as the frame? I'm sure there's a solution but yeah, I'm not a big fan of them so far... |

Maybe if they tied the airbox cover and radiator shrouds together?
The trouble I have with that is they would be adding something purely for aesthetic reasons... I'm not generally a fan of that but those shrouds really do look "tacked on". I still need to see it in person of course... |

Saw it person after the Moto-ST races at Road America. Front looks like a smaller version of the RR. Scoops? A little strange looking at first, but my wife will be selling her 9S to purchase one of the new bikes for herself. But I thing the Uly I have would be better for her!! |

I think it would look better if the radiator shrouds were integrated into the headlight fairing. Cut off a couple of inches of the shrouds and bridge the gap between the two and it looks much better. IMO |

I believe the rod behind the fork in that pic is for data logging the length and speed of travel. Good eye Tim! |

Doesn't anyone think the thing looks like a XBRR in the front fairing. I thought that bike looked out of place on the track compared to the other slender machines. Man, I was hoping it wouldn't look fat. |

i wasnt a fan of the XBRR styling either. i know, i know, it has purpose but man, the race XBRs look insanely sweet compared to the XBRR styling. copy/paste from my post in 12r's other thread 'cause i immediately started messing around in PS too. i think small tweaks make a HUGE difference. ---> i started doing the same thing today, tweaking in PS. here's as far as i got... took a little different approach and used a half-fairing and belly pan. also cranked the tail up a tad, race front fender, lowered the nose and increased the height of the windscreen by a hair. still would like to remove the passenger brackets, finish the pan styling, etc. but its only playtime ;) i think an integrated front fairing and less 'roundness' to the shrouds would look badass. before after tweaking little more tweaking (Message edited by typeone on July 10, 2007) |

Typeone, Amazing job! I like your version MUCH, MUCH better. The front end now looks fantastic! I definately prefer this bike you propose, over the 1098. Also the rear is better, although the original is good for me. I hope the factory is listening to you, and do these minor mods to the front. I wonder if it is it possible to e-mail this to BUELL? I think it would be better for the factory to introduce the bike a few months later, and take the time to make the looks of the bike as good as possible. We have been waiting for this bike for years, I guess a few extra months waiting will not hurt us, as long as our new Buell is looking its best. |

I am so excited about this new insane bike to the family..but..I love everything that will come from this bikes performance but it does look extremely dorky. The nose fairing is not only to high but also way to wide. The scoops on the sides are also just sticking out and floating around. I think Kevin drummer needs to call Buell and step in for the exhaust also. I love my xb12r all around for looks and performance but this bike is gonna destroy it. If only it looked a little better. I'm not one to rip on how a bike looks but I need my bike to be clean and badass looking. This one is not. I hope there is gonna be some mean aftermarket fairing kits and I hope drummer is coming up with something for the exhaust already. I wanna be the first to buy at San diego Harley so everyone better back off out here. Ha. I hope good things come from and for this bike. Laters. |

typeone, nice work, looks heaps better, i think it would look better again if the curved front of the shrouds followed the radius of the wheel, what do you think. oh yeah and it deffinately needs a cowl around the exhaust to hide all the different angles and clean the lines up. To me it doesnt blend in to any thing and thats the problem, tho I like what you have done. (Message edited by aussie_buell on July 10, 2007) |
