I know but there is only one way to get it going, and its not by giving up. So I'll just keep waiting and hoping. |

theres too much competition, Buell would have no chance. Every manufacturer has a dirtbike, even husky. They need to bring back the tuber! |

They dont need a dirt bike for Motorcrossing, it is too competitive and too expensive to break into that field at this point. But a well positioned Dual sport or Super moto in the 450 field would do well. Dirt dress for the guys that will use it. Street set up for a Blast redux. That lil KLR250 has been a strong seller for over the last 20 years. I see them every time I go trail riding. Make it street legal, give it some clearance, make it decent power to weight, and come out in orange and I will get one. |

I still think the blast should get a Dual-sport make over. In short, I wanna buell dirtbike too. (sniffle, whimper) I might get orange too, hmm. |

Yeah a Blast with a higher suspension, bigger wheels, chain, maybe a little longer swing arm, no truck fender out back and a motocross fender in front. |

reroute the exhaust to a high side with a heat shield similar to scramblers, put a bash plate on the bottom of the block ( i need that) headlight, front blinkers, color it orange.... Let me know when it is ready, THAT is the bike I would pay for. |

If I had the money, I'd build it. It would be a fun little challenge. |

Problem is, it would still be so HEAVY. What they really need is the Rotax 450 in a space aluminum perimeter frame... put it at the sub 300 lbs mark. |

I would have to agree with that. |

Lets go back for a moment, think Buell Motorcycles....... Big old lump of "Old School" engine making lots of torque, placed in a superior chassis, begin making revolutionary design improvements that are light years ahead of the competition, the natural design progression from Tubers to the XB platform, then comes.......1125R. I know the Blast is capable of making more horse power and torque, but it is handicapped by the engine weight issues. To make a competitive Dirty Big Single, you would have to go all new, and that would be a radical departure from the natural design progression of Buell Motorcycles. You would be placed in a position competing in a market against big manufacturers that already have the distribution, advertising and sales "Figured out" handicapping all the effort trying to enter a new design into a new market. Sorry, I have tons more to say..... |

You have to start somewhere. I'm not the most knowledgeable about KTM, but they did a pretty good job busting into the sport bike world from the land of dirt bikes. Which I would think would be more difficult then going the other way around. Really the 1125R is an all new bike. Though it uses the same ideas, it’s a completely new bike. Much like going the dirt bike route would need an all new bike. Maybe I'm just hoping for to much, but I think it would be possible. Maybe in a year or two after the 1125R has been around a little longer. P.S. Buell jumped into a market already ruled by the big 4 and others, but they managed. Why not again. Looks like Aprilia just came out with a Enduro 450. No list on specs, price or availability. If it is less money than the KTM .... maybe red isnt such a bad color after all. |
