...to an American dirt bike. Fuel in frame? Not quite...but it does hold oil in the frame. Liquid cooled, dual overhead chain driven cams, reversed head, first EFI in the (dirt) business, electric start, the only cassette style gearbox, unified construction cases designed for easy bottom end access, Ohlins suspension. Easily plated for road use. Granted, there were issues in the past (before ATK took Cannondale over) but they have been rectified (sound familiar?) and they are on right on par with the competitive enduros on the market. ATK reminds me of Buell in the not so distant past in some regards. 2006 Motorcycle USA write-up Video Clip

I had a`90 ATK 406 ,for the bush and it, to this day is one of my most favorite bikes. It had great power ,excellant traction and handled awesome! But poor access to parts and service made me sell and get a husky. |

i really wish they would street legalize these things, i'd have one in a minute. there was talk on the website of a 50 state legal sumo but i don't know what happened to that, funny that the video says you can put a plate on it but i've never heard that before, maybe the title isn't stamped "for off-road use only" |

That's exactly it. They can be registered and plated if your state DMV allows it. They also need a proper dual sport lighting kit to be street legal. |

Cassette gearbox is sounding like the right stuff. "But poor access to parts and service made me sell and get a husky." I would hardy think you were in much better hands. I have just waited 2 months for front fork dust seals and a water pump seal from Husky. I've been advised by my deler to order stuff well in advance to breaking it in future. |

I wrote ATK an email recently. They are aiming to have a 2 stroke available by 2023. |
