We've been busy talkin' dirt at Buell... have you been doing the same in your store? If you're not familiar with the dirt scene...then lets talk product! *Engine Type: While two-strokes dominated the off-road market for decades, the shift to 4-strokes motors has accelerated over the past 8 years since Yamaha introduced their YZ400 into the motocross race scene. Nowadays, motocross racing includes the Lites(250cc 4-stroke and 125cc 2-stroke) and Motocross (450cc and 250cc 2-stroke) classes. 4-stroke machines now are the dominant choice for both pro and amateur motocrossers, as well as very popular for enduro and supermoto riders. *Motorcycle Specifications: Motocross bikes weigh in th neighborhood of 225 lbs., have fuel capacity of 1.9 gallons, over 12 inches of suspension travel to absorb the bumps and jumps, and the 450 machines have approximately 55 horsepower. Designed for carving the trails, Enduro machines are slightly heavier, carry more fuel, include a headlight, and some models are also street-legal. *Product Trends: Honda has announced their departure from 2-stroke machines. KTM has added the first electric starter with battery to motocross machine with this year's model. BMW has enduro machine, and had entered a European race. Fuel injection has been the topic of discussion, and appears to be on the horizon. Above is from "Sport Minded" The Newsletter for the Buell Sales Professionals |

Anyone been catching the MotoX races so far this year? Carmichael is on a tear! I cannot comprehend how those guys ride so fast over such gnarly terrain. The last race I watched--had it recorded--was one from NH I think, very sandy and very very gnarly. |

Blake, that might have been Southwick, MA. very sandy. Carmichael was on FIRE. rockin' the GOAT tag for sure. for anyone that has yet to attend a national, do it. to be right at the track watching the pros rip it up is nutty. i've always been a fan of outdoor MX more than supercross. some of the speeds they carry on outdoor tracks is mind boggling. love it. |

Yes, that was it, Southwick. Carmichael is truly the best ever. He just garnered his 100th MotoX win splitting the days victories with James Stewart, the newest leader of the pack. Very cool to see men of color leading the way in MotoX and also Formula-1. |
