Reveal? I am still awaiting the show to materialize on my MacBook screen. Maybe it is me or the computer but I have been getting nothing since 10 AM this morning. Any others having success at the Pan Ademic reveal? The following was from the actual H-D site https://reveal.harley-davidson.com/countdown?local e=en_US

I got to view it on my other Mac and this video works well on both. No specs are given but they talk about light weight, huh? No pricing About 18 minutes of HD history out of 25 minutes runtime. I'm not over or underwhelmed...... just whelmed. I will have to ride it, all the time knowing my Ulysses and the new Buell ADV is coming. Hhmmmm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF3pBM4eViE (Message edited by mog on February 22, 2021) |

I notice the Pan America is available with Adaptive Ride Height (ARH) that drops the ride height a couple of inches as you come to a stop. I recall seeing a modified Uly, apparently owned by EBR, in one of LAP’s auction lots, with some sort of air over suspension. I wonder if the setup on the Pan America is based on something Buell was developing? |

I read the Cycle World article on this thing. There is an AWFUL lot of brand new technology in it, stuff Harley has never done before. The smart person will wait two years before plunking down 20 large for the privilege of being an unpaid beta tester. Let the early adopters have all the headaches. One SMART thing they did was give it a chain drive. I've seen far too many belt-driven bikes snap their belts off-road... first with the Ulysses and now the Zero DS, DSR and FX bikes. Buells made me a believer in belt drives for onroad motorcycles... but offroad chains still rule. |

^ Jaime- Gates has been working on improved belt drive systems specifically for off road bikes. Steve Anderson tweeted this info recently. The major change is the provision of “mud ports” on the sprockets. This lets mud that’s on the belt get squeezed out rather than getting trapped between the belt and the sprockets, where it can increase belt tension to the point that the belt snaps or wheel and output shaft bearings fail. I wonder if it might eventually be seen on the Pan America? https://assets.gates.com/content/dam/gates/home/ab out-us/news/gates-carbon-drive-launches-new-mudpor t-sprocket-line.pdf |

I'd love to put a set of Mud Port sprockets and a Carbon Drive belt on the Gentleman's Express before I set out for the Arctic Ocean next year. (which has nothing to do with either L.A.P. Buells or the Pan America, but I do find that to be exciting news!) |

Hugh, I saw that but the issue isn't mud... it's sharp rocks. |

Just wait for the 975cc version of this based on the Bronx with a 17" front wheel, street rubber and a belt drive....... (Message edited by josequinones on February 23, 2021) |

I owned a 99 Buell S3T, first year of fuel injected Buells. I own a 2014 Zero SR, first year for that model. Jaime, like me I think you have had a Buell and still have a Zero. This should be a walk in the park in comparision. |

I have a future date to see an actual Pan Am at the local H-D here in Wilmington, NC. It will be shipped to their Shallotte store for another person who has purchased some time ago. Although I would not dare to sit or even touch some's else ordered bike, I will be able to see it and observe its heft and weight. No doubt it is a most sophisticated on/off road motorcycle but my 6-3 tall skinny body has enough challenge with our 470 pound wet Uly plus the 6-1 wife. I cringe at the notion of an additional 64 pounds and 8 inch longer wheelbase. For me, the jury is still out but the weight and length looms bigger than the impressive technology. |
