First they said their "divorce" from EBR would only cause a minor delay in the EBR-developed designs making it to market, then they said they expected to have the designs ready later this year, now they're apparently dropping them for the foreseeable future:
quote:While that the slew of launches are most welcome, enthusiasts waiting for Hero to bring its performance offerings are in a for a disappointment. Mr Munjal stated that the company's plans to introduce the performance motorcycle range has taken a back seat as the two wheeler maker wants to concentrate on its expansion plans to across several markets in India and overseas, while also working on the re-working of policy after GST (Goods and Services Tax) comes in. This means that the company won't bring what it calls the 'EBR Package'. Developed in collaboration with Erik Buell Racing package comprises of products like the highly awaited EBR 250 and Hastur models. This also means that products like the Xtreme 200, XF3R and even the speculative Impulse 250 won't make it to showrooms anytime soon.

I wonder if Hero could be desperate enough at this point to beg EBR to complete the designs for them? I can imagine EBR might say "Sure, just deposit $4.2M in our account, and we'll have the bikes ready for production in 6 months". OTOH, most of EBR's design staff have moved on to other jobs, and even if they could be persuaded to come back, it would take months to re-hire them, pick up the pieces, and be ready to start the completion of the work. |

I wouldn't even wash a window for Hero unless they paid in full up front. |

^ Amen. Like Bill said, what an epic screw up. Hero's greed screwed 2 companies (not to mention a myriad of suppliers) royally. EVERYONE involved lost out. Morons... |

That's the tragic part of this. Nobody won, and a lot of people were hurt, and a lot of time was wasted. And the world will never get to see some potentially nice bikes (were Hero capable of executing on anything other than dodgy crap, which in hindsight now seems less likely). I met a couple Hero folks at Mid Ohio and talked to them walking from the paddock over to the food area. They weren't very outgoing, but were nice enough. At the time I thought of that as humble, but perhaps it was more being cagey. Whatever it was, they didn't engage with any passion the way Erik Buell or any other proper elf would have. |

"Greed screws everything up..." I found the same thing happened in my former business partnership as well. |

I seem to remember an "anonymous" post some time ago foreseeing that Hero would never be able to finish those projects on their own... I don't feel bad for them. |

Probably the typical mistaken belief that somebody with integrity and a hard work ethic is also a sucker and a pushover. These kinds of people will bend over backwards to help you, but if you &*&^ with them, you are suddenly looking at your worst nightmare. Pretty much like the 101st airborne after Normandy. It wasn't the bullies you had to worry about, it was a pissed off farmboy or school teacher who made a decision that they won't tolerate injustice. Try and cheat a half dozen elves? You are well and truly *&^&^&$. (Message edited by reepicheep on September 17, 2016) |
