This blimp appears for sale every year or so . . . like the changing of the leaves in fall. At one time it was offered for some princely sum . . . . if i recall in the thousands . . citing it's scarcity. Well, the reason it's "scarce" is because no one wants it. It's one of those cheesy car dealership deals that HD bought to fly over the Buell factory at a homecoming. Why else don't folks want it? What the hell are you going to do with a friction' blimp. Someone at Buell found a sucker to buy it . . likely someone who was acute enough to think what it would cost to inflate the damn thing . . . and it's been appearing on the market as regularly as Bill Clinton has affairs. |

Why yes . . yes it would. Someone . . in our annual Blimp discussion event generally ends up calculating the volume and cost. We kind of ignore all the stuffy things about licensing and keep track of the damn thing. Like a drunken redhead . . . . it's fun once . . . then it turns into work. |

I don't date anything other than drunken redheads It looks like the old threads were removed, but the internet forgets nothing.

But it is quite a bargain now, previously they wanted $5k for it |

It's the economy . . . . Buell blimps are falling like . . . . well blimps. Kudos on the redheads . . . .just one of the reasons I hold you in the highest regards. |

So, we start a "Go Fund Me" account, buy the blimp, bring it to Homecoming, fill it with hydrogen, and re-enact the Hindenburg after a few beers.

We'd had that discussion . . . . it would be, doubtless, an historic event in the hamlet of East Troy. I can just see sitting at Gus's . . . a couple guys and gals getting a toot on . . . . when out of the setting sun . . . . to the Southeast over the former Meyer Lane (now Buell Drive) appears the "Blue Buell Menace" . . . . I'd finish the story . . . . but I'll leave it to FB1 . . he's a better writer when it gets to this point. :-) |

Can't you just see a trail of flame . . .headed up about a 2,000 foot tether cord . . . as a crowd of Buellers . . . silhouetted by d pitch black Wisconsin summer sky . . . stand watching. Miller and one of the women at BDC originally bought the blimp . . . I doubt, at that time, they could have guessed it would have such a storied history. We may have to add the blimp story to the next book! Kapow ! |

I doubt, at that time, they could have guessed it would have such a storied history. Its amazing that this unwanted memorabilia would have any kind of history at all. We're inclusive that way |

>>>We're inclusive that way We are . . . . in the first book I included (although 90% of the story behind the story got cut to get the page count correct) the story of the Buell bicycle. I don't recall if I included the part about the Buell guitars (one was on eBay the other day) but that, like the blimp, was a part of history that slipped right past most folks. I actually had an entire chapter entitled "Special Buells" that, complete with photos, chronicled most, if not all, of the "one off" bikes we'd built for friends, charities, dealer events, law enforcement and research. The blimp wasn't really even noticed until someone showed up here a couple years ago and made a big stink about how much it was worth and then cut loose on folks for questioning the $5,000 (or whatever it was price). At that point it became good old fashioned ribbing. It's ALL fun . . . |

I don't recall if I included the part about the Buell guitars (one was on eBay the other day) but that, like the blimp, was a part of history that slipped right past most folks. I remember those guitars. On a related topic, a guy on one of the Buell FB groups spotted a double axle trailer behind a tour bus last weekend on I-10 in Texas. He noted the trailer had a big "Buell" logo on back and wondered who it belonged to:
I figured out it was Queensryche, apparently headed to Miami to play on a rock and roll cruise this week. Nice to see them still advertising for Erik. |

^ Ha! That would be pretty awesome. If it burst into flame floating a few hundred feet in front of the Skyline Village Inn, you'd be able to see it from half of North Carolina! |
