What a misinformed hack job of mc journalism, posted May 06/15 on canadamotoguide.com by Michael Uhlarik, in regards to EBR's receivership.

Here is the article that 996DL references.
Its full of assumption and misinformation.

What was wrong with the article?
Not what you wanted to read?

"Its full of assumption and misinformation."?
Why is that, because HERO was not written as the reason?

It is highly inaccurate in a number of areas.

quote:

Their part in the failure is unlikely to be revealed publicly....

I doubt public disclosure can be avoided. I'm confident some minds will change.

Purely personal opinion.

What was wrong with the article?
Not what you wanted to read?

"Its full of assumption and misinformation."?
Why is that, because HERO was not written as the reason?"

Assumption #1:
"The truth behind the failure of EBR has nothing to do with sinister plots and everything to do with the company’s misdirected use of precious resources, the deployment of which are sole responsibility of the CEO and majority stake holders, not Hero"
He is passing off opinion as fact. This guy does not have inside knowledge of the situation.

Assumption #2:
"...EBR was contracted as an R&D partner for Hero’s own products. These revenue generating activities were to replace racing products as the company’s core business."

No one outside of the company knows what legs of the business were profitable and which weren't. Again, stretching opinion into fact.

Assumption #3
"How much company money was lost on racing we will likely never know"
He assumes money was lost on racing that affected the company's bottom line. Again passing off opinion, mixed with conjecture, as fact.

Incorrect statement #1:
" The 1190-RS race bike was dutifully manufactured in their hundreds, as the championship’s production guidelines stipulate, and promised for sale at eye watering prices."
There were 100 2012 model year RS models.
There were 35 2013 model year RS models.

Mostly incorrect statement where he's really stretching here...
"In the end the EBR motorcycles featured old technology, essentially the same XB frame..."

Because it's a similar architecture putting fuel inside the frame, it's old tech? The chassis of the RS/RX/SX was often praised for it's strength and rigidity. Calling it "essentially the same XB frame" is hardly accurate. The geometry from the EBR frame to even the 1125 frame is different.
The bike uses a radial master cylinder - certainly current tech.
The bike has 20 levels, plus off, of traction control function - certainly current tech.
The bike has an LED headlight - who else is using this new tech?
TFT instrument cluster color display.
etc.
etc.
etc.

Please, don't assume what my reasons are for not liking the article. Clearly, the guy was trying to make a point and, in my opinion, used some creative license to get there.
I get sick of people passing off opinion as fact when they clearly show that they are not educated enough on a subject to draw conclusions that depict reality.

Hopefully, someday, the truth comes out about the situation and we can all, then and only then, draw our own conclusions. Way too much guessing going on right now.
Just my 2 cents.

I agree 100%

None of the racing money came from or was related to EBR business activity.

My bet is eventually folks will be treated to enough info to make their own decisions.

My opinion of the article is complete bullshit and I've been the first .... Leaving some here aghast.... To be critical of EBR

Not a great time for me to be writing ..... Folks will form their own opinions.

How much (paid) personnel time was spent on the racing efforts? Were other projects delayed to to that effort?
