In the Sunday, November 27, 2011 edition of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel an article entitled "Wandell kick-starts Harley sales, dealer network" was run. A friend of mine Emailed me about the article commenting on the statement "Wandell has overseen the closing of four plants and the cutting of about 3,800 jobs, decisions made before he took over." particularly the 'decisions made before he took over' part. My Mom was nice enough to send me the article:
Upon receipt of the article I noticed it was actually an excerpt of a larger article by Bloomberg News, entitled Wandell Leads Harley’s Comeback as Mulally on a Motorcycle: Cars Even though my thoughts on the 'decisions made before he took over' are that it's pretty much balderdash (at least with respect to Buell) it will be interesting to see what the 'Ford Fan Boy Contingent' reaction is to the likening of Wandell to Mulally as well... 1313 |

I always had the impression that Harley's chairman of the board (who also headed the search committee who hired Wandell)gave Wandell his mission in reference to Buell before he even came on board. Hence, "decisions before he was hired" |

Steve, that's interesting. I didn't think I could have any less respect for the HD board, I guess I was wrong. Brad |

Actually that was my impression as well due to what, at the time, I thought was an unrelated event involving an advertising company in Colorado. I would hazard a guess that the decision was made in the summer. (before Wandell) However, maybe next time you will show up to the party on time Brankin and we can chat about it. |
