Aaron's experience with the bike matched mine. I would say the brake quibble depends on what you're used to. I had a chance to ride an 848 and a 1198 Ducati on a track a week after riding the 1190RS, and I found their braking effort so low as to be a problem -- you had to be very careful, and it was easy to slow too much. These issues, I'm sure, would be minimized by familiarity. The 1190RS, with brake effort more comparable with Japanese race replicas than Ducatis, would still pick the back wheel off the ground with two-finger braking. More importantly, it gave amazing feel and feedback, much better than ZTL2 systems, and let you brake deep into corners with confidence. |

I just love reading this stuff from folks who ride at a level I never have/will. It's neat to see someone able to take the bike up towards it's capabilities. I'm sure, at the level the 1190RS and some of it's direct competition operate, that there is some really sophisticated hardware! Can't wait to see General Geoff May march into battle armed with this weapon. |
