H-D now has the distinction of losing two of the worlds finest motorcycle designers and engineers in just one year. Congrats Good luck to Erik. |

Good and bad news huh. Future support, if "race only", for the 1125r but the XBs are orphans. I love Buells because of the way they ride! I don't race, I just ride, but do I ride. Buell lives on and if they continue to win races, the streeters will be back, either from Buell Racing or HD. |

The racing might put pressure on HD to let the full line come back. The question is though, if the machines are race only can they qualify for the production bike rules? I know you need to make 50 of them, but I thought they needed to be available for anyone with the money to buy them and had to be streetable? Someone correct me on this. |

It is not a new motorcycle company that sells production bikes. It will be a race shop in the same sense as yosh, graves, erion, etc. |

"....and the building and sale of Buell® 1125R-based race-use-only motorcycles under license from Harley-Davidson...." He'll be making bikes, just not for the streeter market-me, YET! Race notoriaty will breed a "mass market" cycle. |

Hmm, well for those concerned with their bike values plummeting, this might be encouraging news. If he's successful, a larger number of people will crave these bikes, and they won't be able to buy one easily... Just a thought. |

Great news but America still needs an American sport bike for the street. WE WILL INDEED BE AT THE TRACK, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. (Message edited by mmmi_grad on November 20, 2009) |

What's a chronic malcontent like me have to gripe about today? All kidding aside, very nice news and his racing efforts are guaranteed a faithful following. |

Looks like a sensible path to take. HD has to make replacement parts for 7 years and they have committed to 10. This keeps the supply chain from subcontractors in tact. It will also reduce marketing and distribution costs by letting privateers deal directly with the source. If things take off, street bikes could make their way back into the picture. |

I am guess Buell motorcycles will come back in a few years. HD has "paused" the brand for a little while. If all goes well, we'll see the 1125 platform mature into a fantastic motorcycle, and then see it on the road again. Here's hoping. |

Woo Hoo! Finally some good news breaks the shocked silence. It's somewhat a relief too that H-D will support Erik Buell at least in his racing endeavors. |

While I am thrilled by the news I am not sure if they will be legal race bikes with no production street model. Still very good news. |

This is good news indeed! Homecoming this year is going to be GRAND. At last something positive in the Buell world to get us northerners though another cold, snowy winter. Brad |

"I am not sure if they will be legal race bikes with no production street model. " You are confused. They are already legal per AMA. Also, the 2010 model year bikes have been in production for some time, yet the rules don't limit machines to only current year models. |
