Anyone willing to do business with HD after HD could not manage Buell , would be an idiot and prepare themselves to be killed by HD eventually!! |

4cammer yes ATK bought the Cannondale dirt bike program, they built dirt bikes using mostly Rotax motors as far back as the early 80's. |

How could HD kill them? Worst that can happen is the mother ship forces the dealers to stop carrying them. |

>>>Worst that can happen is the mother ship forces the dealers to stop carrying them. Illegal. Harley-Davidson can not do that. |

I had an ATK 406 as a kid, was an excellent bike. I have often thought of going back to playing in the dirt, and ATK has always been my fist thought. However, I road a Hyosung a couple of years ago and the engine was powerful if a little quirky, but the frame seemed to be welded together by Nike's child labor... ... the ride was not inspiring. This would sully ATK's reputation for only using top tier components. With Buell gone ATK might give me a reason to drop by the Harley dealer again in the future, if only out of morbid curiosity. I don't ride Harleys anymore, better cruiser options available, and if they don't bring back Buell, they have lost my money forever (not that it is enough to really matter, only a bike every few years). |

Court, one way they could stop their dealers is for Harley to become so insolvent that they cease to exist, oh wait, that won't happen because they are going to make a fortune selling bikes in India and China. HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD OR IS IT JUST ME? |

I can't see how it is "illegal" for Harley to punish these dealers. MSFT did it all the time until they became such a screaming monopoly that the courts put a stop to it. I don't see HD as a monopoly and there is nothing to stop them from assembling a cooked up purchase program that punishes these dealers by charging them higher prices. Lots of ways to do it. It would be morally wrong of course but I don't see how it is illegal unless they are a monopoly. Am I missing something? |

I have owned 8 ATKs 7 of them real ones from California. I am sure Frank White wont like what I have to say But I'm going to say it any way. Since stealing the company in a under handed deal they have had many of these proposed colaberations come and go the only one that made it to market is the big bore 2 strokes. I have thought for a long time that they have enough money to need a tax write off a choose to loose their money in the motorcycle market. The real ATK was more like Buell an inovative motorcycle ahead off its time in many ways. What they sell now is upgraded left over Cannondales last year they were showing a cool bike with a Highland motor but I think that deal is gone like most others. ATK was once a brand to be proud of, now it is just a company that sells motorcycles and not very many of them. |
