Can't get there from here.

You need the XBRR cases to even consider that bore and stroke.

Trying to get that bore in an XB will give you overlapping cylinder bores. You just can't bore ANY XB motor out for the more-than-4-inch bore of the XBRR: 103.6mm bore x 79.4mm stroke (4.08in x 3.8125in)

Thank's for the answer.

Is there any parts from the xbrr engine I could use on a xb12 engine?
For example cylinder heads ,flywheel ,fuel injection? (Dual 62mm down-draft)

Don't know if the throttle bodies can be made to fit. Can't really remember looking at them in that context.

Definitely NOT the flywheels (better off having a lightened/balanced set of wheels from one of the sponsors - send them your cases and have them setup for a 2008 flywheel set so you get the beefy bottom end. Heads are just too big.
Studs are too widely spaced.

Not too many pics...

Thanx!

I think it's better to find a used xbrr engine...A new one is too expensive...

How is it with used engines? Hard to find..and how much do I have to pay for a engine in good shape?

The original HAL'S Buell XB Formula Extreme race bikes were 1340cc, that was 3 to 4 years before the XBRR made it's debut.

Terry Galagan of HAL'S had more than some idea's and input as to what would be needed to run competitively in the Formula Extreme class, which aided in the design of the XBRR.

I don't think you would have much luck running a engine like that on the street.

An alternative would be NRHS or Revolution Performance, they both make monster size big bore kits for the XB12 engine (88ci and 90ci).

You can build almost anything your wallet can afford.

This guy Jake318 has recently built a big bore XB12. You can start here and read about it.

I'd recommend that you consider upgrading the flywheels to the 08 - regardless of what other mods you are doing and if you have an 04, get the bronze oiling gear.

Is it possible to run the engine for the street if I change the ecu program?
Or maybe I should forget the xbrr engine...
Well I think it's maybe better to do some wort at my xb12 engine : )

Slaughter :Is the 08 flywheel bolt on?
Is the 04 flywheel much heavier than a 08 flywheel?

No - the 08 requires machining your cases for the bigger bearings.

Don't think there's much difference in weight - just the beefier big end bearings

Little correction to Steve's first statement - Stroke on the XBRR is 3.125"....same as an XB9. He got the metric 79.4mm right though!

I agree with Steve's statements...a big displacement 88" XB motor is definitely the way to go on the street. The XBRR was a beast on the track, but ours tended to overheat the primary/clutch due to the high idle necessary with the cam combination we were running, prematurely engaging it. This would be hell on the street. The charging system is minimilistic as well for race use and wouldn't hold up for the street. It would be a punishing engine for the street to say the least...If it were me, I would go with a 3 7/8" bore XB12 built to ASRA thunderbike spec. Now that would be a fun street engine!

(sorry - I don't do math on my own time!!) : D

3.125 stroke IS correct (what I've got on the over-square XB9 motor at 1169cc)

Slaughter don't mean to thread jack but I see a dual disk set up. I'm looking at converting my 25r front end using a R1 320mm should be here soon. I'm thinking I will have to make a custom 3tree stem, but not sure what else I may run into, any insight or direction would be appreciated. Feel free to PM me...

Triples, brake lines are about all you'd be worrying about in doing a 2-disk swap (R1 forks, brakes, wheel)

IF you have access to a machine shop, the work shouldn't be that daunting.

An interesting build would be an XBRR top end on a S&S Special Application big bore Sportster case.
