My friend at SCRAMP just phoned me to clarify AMA's plans at this point.....She said AMA has notified them that SUPERBIKE ONLY is a definite! They also told us that in 1 to 2 weeks they will decide and announce what other support classes will attend.Im hoping if they have to drop anyone it will be Supersport.I feel most of them are in Formula Extreme now anyways. She also said Kenny Roberts JR. and Wayne Rainey are working with them on Bridge relocation and Wayne will be there the entire time the bridge is moving...I put my 2 cents in about moving it away from the actual corkscrew for all the good it will do!The Grandstands are sold out as of this morning but parade laps and pits are(or were ) still availiable...better hurry!! I called about BRAG tickets, but no response. I hear that things are going to be very expensive for the participating vendors...for example. ducati island....they have always had this? can they afford to do for this year? Yamaha is shelling out a lot of money, millions to help bring this to the event. Wonder if Buell will even be there, and if so, can they afford tickets and seating? This place is going to be packed..rex |

How bout that, the Buell won on top speed over the Suzi. Way to go Chip and S&S. What kind of engine does that Buell beast have, I wonder? Anyone know? |

Got a question about valve springs, specifically do I need the heavier set specified for 536's or can I get away with the stock ones. Haven't measured pressure differences and the heights are off by about an 1/8". Also has anyone found some good valve stem seals, have an '00 cyclone with about 15,000 and the stocks were pretty beat up. any point in the right direction would be appreciated, except if it's with middle finger of course! |

Ceejay ... the stock springs have enough travel for .536's, but the seat pressure is pretty weak for that grind IMO. I'd be wary of more than 6000rpm with that combination. The stock valve guides tend to sit up too high for more than .500 lift with adequate clearance to the retainer, though. High quality guides that offer more clearance and matching stem seals are readily available Be sure to at least lap the valves in after changing guides and make sure they seal up good, if not do a full valve job. |

thanks for the help Aaron, I already got some of your billet tube bases, and they look real nice and I lapped the valves in the other night when I started thinking about the springs and how much pressure that they carried. Plus I got some seals from the local H-D shop that look like they are for the smaller XB stems so I started thinking about that stuff a little more too. especially since the old ones were blown out on the exhaust side. Wasn't sure if the old springs would start to float out at high r's. The guide was something that I didn't even consider, guess I was waiting to run into that problem! Thanks for the help. |
