COOOOOOLNESS!!!! Just off the phone with Ferris. In one word he sums up Zion – “AWESOME!” AND, secondly awesome is the brandy new (“still smells like fresh pain”) Zion Harley-Davidson/Buell dealership where he just met with the general manager who has not only helped in blocking out a few rooms in Zion – it turns out July 24 is a state holiday and EVERY place has been booked solid for some time – but the GM indicates a contribution to the American Cancer Society in some form of assisting with the riders’ visit to Zion is highly likely. GO FERRIS!!!! | ||

TWT on Speed had a feature about the Duluth, Georgia, Motorcycle Police Squad. Apparently back in 1997 they decided to use Buell S2's as cop bikes, they bought three. As the video shows footage of three Buell S2 police bikes going down the road, the voice over said something along the following lines: "Due to company politics the Buell police bike program was terminated and the Duluth department was back to square one, so they bought 2 Harley's and 2 BMW's." The Announcer (Greg White?) seemed to imply that the politics were going on in Milwaukee, not in Duluth. As in, Buell's Police bike program was a threat to Harley's Police bike program, and it was terminated. Any old timers wish to tell us the rest of the story? | ||

As I understood it Harley axed the Buell police bike program after they bought Buell. I'm sure it was because they were stepping on HD toes but I'm no insider by any means. | ||

Glitch, Yes and no. The light will be on when the condition is present but the light will go out after the condition clears. There could be stored codes in the computer. The tubers computer stored codes for 50 run cycles before they were erased. I assume that the XB's do the same. | ||

The Ground Zero "Back 2 School Madness" 2nd Annual Benefit Car Show will be help Sunday Sept. 19th 2004 at F-1 Race Factory at 48th St. & Washington in Phoenix AZ Entry fee is $20.00 Roll in is from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Judging begins at NOON Awards will be at approx. 4:30 or 5:00 p.m. Spectators are free F-1 Race Factory will be selling discounted water to everyone attending the show. They will also have beer & wine available at their indoor bar and will have food available at their indoor restaurant. Get out of the heat and play some video games or take some carts for a couple laps on their indoor air conditioned track. They will also have an outdoor R/C Car Track set up. We will have the following sized trophies 6 foot for Most Donation 6 foot for Club Participation 5 foot for Best of Show Car 5 foot for Best of Show Truck 4 foot for Best Paint 4 foot for Best Interior 4 foot for Best Chrome 3 foot for Lowest Car 3 foot for Lowest Truck 3 foot for 1st in Class (including Under Construction) 2.5 foot for 2nd in Class (including Under Construction) 2 foot for 3rd in Class (including Under Construction) All classes are viewable in the Show Area at http://www.GroundZeroAZ.com All proceeds will be donated to a local school for the homeless. We will also have a truck or van that we will try to fill to the brim with any and all school supplies (pens, paper, folders, etc.). So please come out and help out the less fortunate. We have a Motorcycle class with 1st and 2nd place trophies Last year we donated all proceeds to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, this year we are donating all proceeds and all school supply donations to a local school for the homeless, maybe some of you in AZ or nearby could take a road trip out for a day of fun. Just remember it is HOT in Sept. in AZ so be sure to stay hydrated. | ||

For the most part. It is easy to check for codes. I can look in my SM when I get home but you just short out two pins on the data connector and turn on the bike and count the blinks. | ||

Wouldnt do much for you even if it fit. Carbed bikes dont benefit very much from them. | ||

Denisea, good on them! I stopped in there a few months ago on my honey-moon!  It was a very extravagant place! (vegas an all) They had a huge show room with tons of bikes complete with an entire row of Buells for sale, new and lots of used. I would say atleast 15 bikes or more. Didn't get to really meet & greet with many it was an insane place. | ||

Does anyone have any advice for the rear shock upgrade from the 99' Showa to the K1400. I have spoken with the HD/Buell shop, they don't seem to have any knowledge about this. I told them about the new shock (K1400) and he found it on the computer. If anyone has been thru this I would like to know what charges etc. might I expect. Almost forgot, it's for a '95 S2. Randy: First, if you go with the new style rear shock you need to change your front shock mount since the new style "big eye" shock is shorter than the previous versions. That P/N is K0407.01A1 AkA Plate casting, shock mount. I just changed mine out last week and installed a Works Performance shock. Time2Ride Neil S. | ||

i b back. true to form, my two-day Ride Across North America reconnaissance ride turned into four, but what a Grand Adventure. as Denise paraphrased for me above, Zion National Park is incredible. Alex, when we get there you may not want to leave. met with the GM of Zion H-D/Buell on the way thru, and with the Marketing Director of Las Vegas H-D/Buell on the way back. they are now both fully up-to-speed on RANE, and i should know in a couple of days whether they can "formally" support the ride, as my request goes thru their channels. Death Valley was nothing less than unreal, from scenery to temperature to weather, and cruising the strip in Vegas is severe sensory overload. lots of catching up to do, including getting caught up on the RANE auction and getting auction items shipped out, plus pix from the trip to post on FBDO, v.2. thank you Denise for covering me while i was gone, and for your enthusiastic, passionate, unwavering support. thank you Zion and Las Vegas H-D/Buell for your generous hospitality and courtesy -- fingers crossed. and thank you to all here who have supported Alex as he prepares to undertake a journey of incredible scope, magnificent adventure, and boundless love. i hope all of you can find it in your hearts to visit his Ride Across North America thread and give generously, not only in terms of a money, but also in words of support and encouragement to he and his friend Matt, and to everyone else whose lives have been touched in some way by the dark scourge of cancer. Ferris, Thanks for the words. I think you nailed the purpose of the trip dead on :"a journey of incredible scope, magnificent adventure, and boundless love". I find as the kickoff date draws nearer, Most of my time is spent thinking about the trip, what I'll see, who I'll meet, and most importantly, how it's going to change myself and those who will benefit from it. Without the support of friends like Jerry, Matt, my parents and the all of the countless others that have supported this trip from the planning stages, to the 'it's going to happen stage', this whole thing wouldn't have happened. A favorite quote from my dad: "Blessed are those who dream dreams and are willing to pay the price to make them come true." Am about to purchase a 2003 Lightning XB9S. Require some help with a technical question. Namely, the bike I will be getting is (originally) a low-rider version. As tall as I am I prefer the less cramped regular height version. Because the only regular height bike they have is a demo that's been laid down they are taking the seat from the regular size demo and putting it on the lowered bike (apparently the seats are different between the two--this adds to the height). Further, they are going to raise the suspension on the brand new (originally lower)bike. Can anyone see any problems with this? They say it'll still be covered under the original warranty and that those are the only two differences between the low-rider XB9S and the regular height XB9S. Is this true? Will this somehow negatively affect the integrity of the bike or is it a simple swap? Thanks in advance. |
