U.K petrol - unleaded approx 80 pence per ltr - or £3.60 per gallon.

I bought my S&S rods direct from a dealer in Huntingdon Beach - $398 and change or £212. That my friends is a bargain. Better still, I've had a field day on Ebay recently. I can afford to outbid US dollars and still get a bargain even with added shipping costs.

I bought the Race Kit rear sets for the S1 off Ebay. I had to mail the seller and ask permission to bid from overseas. With 30 seconds left to bid, and not before, I bid my maximum, which was about $80 above the high bid. The seller mailed me back and complimented me on my shrewd bidding LOL. The bad news? They were shipped 6 weeks ago and they're not here yet!

My goodness how tragic that chap with all those broken bones. Someone pass on my best wishes to that poor sod when they get the chance. Awful awful news. I suspect that fella's lucky to be alive. Ride safe, everyone.

FullPower - Do you think a 250 would be big enough? I was thinking a 400 so you could carry another person and gear. Also, I would want to put a bit of armor around the lower end. Maybe plates on the upper end too. Certainly air cooled and DOHC. Hmmm, Maybe pushrods would be better so you wouldn't need chains. Pushrods could be fabricated fairly easily. Most certainly carb'd.

"the goods and services havent changed in value, the legal tender has changed."

Fullpower,
Would you mind coming and explaining that logic to my employer, I figure I'm due for about a 40% raise by now.

Perhaps singles aren't the way to go. If you lose one cylinder, you're sunk. With a twin, you can at least take out one spark plug and limp around until you can blast someone and steal their parts. How about a BMW GS1000, if for no other reason than it will run over all terrains for 50,000+ miles without major service?

Ding! Ding Ding!

Tell him what he's won!

Also note the perimeter style brake bolted to the wheel spokes as opposed to the rim. Not mentioned in there, but also Buell style.

Would like some opinions from my fellow Bad Webers. I recently bought a XB12S and I'm selling my 2001 X1 with 6200 miles. A girl in my area contacted me and wants to trade a 1998 Triumph 955 Daytona with 5100 miles, fuel injected, single sided swingarm, underseat exhaust, some carbon fiber frame accents/protectors and new Bridgestone BT-012ss. She wrote she has had Harleys in the past and wished she had bought a Buell. What I need to know is 1) is this a fair trade and 2) will the Triumph be easier to sell. Thanks in advance.

Cow, the trade is more than fair in my eyes and I think the hardest thing about selling the Triumph will be you not wanting to after you have ridden it. Modern era Triumph's are a sweet ride in my opinion.........

Get it NOW,especially sweet with the underseat exhaust.I had a Daytonna and loved it but could not handle the riding position. Now I have a Sprint ST and its great.(Always got to have that backup bike for friends etc.)The sound of the triple on the pipe with a good pipe is sweet.

I'm hopefully picking up my new XB12S in a week or two... Can anybody answer me this, in the 'real world' what sort of range do you get per tank? Also how far can you go on reserve? (somebody must have run out on reserve hehe).

I gotta figure mine out also. I didn't pay attention when I brought it home. I'll top her off tomorrow and try and keep track. There will be a lot of stop and go traffic. Once she's broke in and I can get it out and open her up more I'm sure it will be different.

I get about 95-105 riding it around town and the occasional good road. On a slab I have been up to I think 117 or 127 before the light came on. I've put just under 27 miles on the light and made it to a gas station In Sun
City no less. Talk about being on the lookout like a fighter pilot... All of a sudden I realized I was in a retirement community w/o a cage. Scary. I don't know which is worse, Sun City or Van buren at 3AM on a sunday. Completely different reasons sure, but both scary : ).

Hans, how did you know I'd forgotten that - oh at least for the last 20 years LOL. And there was me thinking our American friends were paying British fuel prices. Even at 3.7854 ltr's to a gallon, American's are getting robbed.

Thanks for the maths lesson Hans

Well, finished the Poker Run on my XB, stopped to stretch and top it off. Only used 1.36 gal and we had only gone about 74-75 miles so I got about 54-55 mpg. Then again, I'm still breaking it in.

I have gotten 125 miles to the reserve light then stretched that to another 36.5 miles before I hit a station...point of note...I95 between Yuma and Quartzsite has no gas stations in that stretch.

When I brought my bike back from Phoenix I topped off at the shell station on 85 right after you turn off I-10, what is that Buckeye. My reserve light came on around Welton and I rode it to the first Chevron station at the second Foothills exit. About 138 miles, somewhere around there. I filled up and put less than 3 gal in, so the reserve light must be coming on about 2.5, in that area. I think I put around 2.8 gal in then. And of course in my earlier post you saw what I got. It's gonna vary on how you're riding of course.
