Dino,
The cafe Sportster should have 100+ mile range. I'll find out what his comfort zone is for distance between fuel stops.

Thanks for your selfless efforts, gotta love givers.

Question-

About 2 weeks ago a nice little 84 year old lady bounced me off her Buick. My 2000 S3T was able to be ridden away and is now in the shop awaiting an estimate. I have heard horror stories that parts (especially painted ones) are going to take perhaps 10 weeks. Yikes!!

The fairing, front fender, front sub-frame, headlight assembly all need to be replaced...maybe more pieces than that once they get into it. Should I not plan on taking the S3T on this summer's road trip to the Pacific Northwest?? (I leave the last week in June).

Thanks

Contact your shop and ask then for updates as soon as they hear from the distribution folks. You have 14 weeks, which should be enough time to either get the bike fixed or make other plans. There are options to expedite the process, but give your shop a day or two to find out estimated delivery times for the parts. If they have had the bike for two weeks, and if they have the go-ahead from either you or your insurance company (or her's), then call them now.

Rumors are subject to change, so are delivery dates, but it's best to confirm stuff from the source first before changing your plans.

>>>I have heard horror stories that parts (especially painted ones) are going to take perhaps 10 weeks.

That is inaccurate information.

To help, your dealer could call their S.P.O.C. rep and give them the "heads up" that the order is coming.

You will get parts promptly.

Except that painted parts are "Vendor Direct" and every Vulcan I've ever talked to at S.P.O.C. has told me that's the extent of their knowledge.

Hope I'm wrong. If it makes you feel any better, we got painted parts (Billet Silver) for a customer in three weeks.

I fully expect your parts in this week. The one I couldn't remember... Fuel tank retainer.

the Thong and i did indeed do a little dance yesterday, albeit a slow dance, and to a pretty short song to boot.

it's still a little miffed, altho most of the cosmetic damage has been addressed (i'm still looking for a straight, i.e. factory-bent set of S1W handlebars, if anyone knows of a set lying around gathering dust.)

i'm afraid any progress we might have made toward reconciliation yesterday may fly out the window when the load of stuff for the BLURR from Danny shows up...

Posted this in the KV a day ago - no replies, so here goes again ; )

Can someone post (or email me) a photo of how the front turn signal wires are bundled up on an XB?R. I can't seem to find a way to tuck the bundles up and away, and a photo from above and below would be greatly appreciated.

Henrik mine run along the edge of the fairing. They are just long enough to reach the connections so there is very little slack.

Henrik,

I simply doubled mine back and zip-tied them to whatever was handy. If no one has by the time I get home, I'll gladly send a picture your way then.

Thanks for the turn signal wiring feed-back. I have the wired doubled and tied, but it seems like they could be tucked up under the arm of the fairing "spider" and out of view. Except there is nowhere to attach the wire bundle to keep it there.

This appears to be a Ventura rack for an S1. Good deal. The bags are available from the manufacturer. I paid over $300 for mine.
