Josh,
Now you have your learners permit!
Lots of the MS stuff works well in a perfect environment, not so well in the corp. corp. world...
MS's file system sucks over a VPN. Too much overhead and background chatter.

Congrats though, it's a big step.
Which Cisco you going for?

Court...
Hire an intern... I spent a few weeks scanning 3" binders full of old test data. Not a fun task.

I know the copier we have at our Fraternity house has the auto feeder and it has software to export images. My guess would be Staples or a print shop could do the same thing for you.

Got my NT MCSE in 98, this is just an upgrade

>not so well in the corp. corp. world
I'm a support professional. If it worked well, I wouldn't have nearly as much to do. ; )

>where would you go?

Check scanner in the back room. Do that in about 10min. Now all you need is a bank that will help out.

I could ask if they outsource the scanning time. They can do .jpg and .tif I believe.

Josh,
Get past the MS crap and get into Cisco, much more fun. Besides you ever try to tweak microsoft stuff for performance?

Then its on to Unix, which is a lot like working on a Buell. Lots of ways to screw it up, many ways to get it right, and all kinds of performance once you learn how to find it.

Congrats on pasing the tests

Matt

Was someone looking for this book recently?
Just surfaced in my memory....
I think Court posted a mention of it.
Looks interesting, wonder what the portion of the story about the modern day outlaws is about.

January 27, 2004

To Our Valued Customers:

It is with extremely mixed emotions that we are writing this letter to notify you that as of January 27, 2004, American Sport Bike will no longer be owned/operated by “Tat,” Maria and Melanie.

This decision is made after eight rewarding years of getting to know you and sharing the same passions and enthusiasm for the freedom of the open road, however, the time has come for us to move on in a different direction.

We would like to take this opportunity to Thank You for the courtesies you have shown us in the past. You have been wonderful customers and friends. To those of you who have so loyally followed American Sport Bike from the beginning days when we only had an 18 page catalog, we want to especially thank you for giving us the privilege of providing you with our high quality parts and some of the best service a company has to offer. Together we have grown and we will continue to cherish the memories that will always be with us. Some of the long-time relationships have grown to become true friendships that have only added to the rewards of being in the business.

We feel that we have found two of the best people to carry on the ways of American Sport Bike, Al and Joanne Lighton. We know that they are most willing to help make the transition as smooth as possible and will continue to provide you with the high quality parts and excellent service. They will be contacting you shortly.

Sincerely,

“Tat”, Maria & Melanie

To Our Valued Customers:

We are very pleased and excited to be the new owners/operators of American Sport Bike as of January 27th, 2004. When Tat and Maria approached us with the idea of acquiring American Sport Bike, we eagerly accepted. We will be working closely with them for the next year to ensure that American Sport Bike will continue providing the same quality service you’ve come to expect from them in the past. For us, it is the fruition of a dream, as Al has been actively interested and passionate about motorcycles for over 25 years, and Buells in particular for the last 5 years.

First of all, who are we, and why are we qualified for this? You may know Al through badweatherbikers.com or other online bulletin boards dedicated to the Buell enthusiast. Perhaps you have read one of his technical articles or posts. Or you may know him from some of the many rides he participates in on the west coast. As a mechanical engineer with a passion for motorcycles, the design and sale of motorcycle parts is a perfect career match for Al. You probably don't know Joanne yet, who also rides her own motorcycles. With a landscape architectural background, she has an eye for design and a very service-oriented demeanor. Together, we shall continue the fine tradition of excellent service that you have come to expect from Tat, Maria and Melanie at American Sport Bike.

We realize that the success of American Sport Bike depends entirely on your continued satisfaction. So you may rest assured that American Sport Bike will continue to provide high quality products and personal service. Our manner of conducting business and company policies will not change, unless we can improve them in some manner. Towards that end, if you have any specific suggestions on how we can help you better, please let us know. We hope that you will allow us to continue servicing your motorcycling needs, and that you will share your passion for the open road with us. We look forward to getting to know you better!

Sincerely,

Al Lighton, Joanne Lighton

FAN FUCKINGTASTIC ! A perfect match. Al is a great engineer (after 5 broken mounts and 2 headers an A.L designed rear bracket has my Buell exhaust trouble free. A excellent design he made and purchased and shared here on BW with no profit to himself just a good solution to a vexing problem need by a lot of fellow riders)

How cool is that, to combine what you love, your hobby and passion with your livelihood.
Al is a true and long time enthusiast and Buell believer, this is good news for the lovers of the marque.

I gave that man a patch kit for his rainsuit, and yes I'd buy parts from him without hesitation.
Sad/Good news, sad the Tat crew are off on to new things, good that Al and Joanne are picking up the reins.

Tat, Marie and Melanie.
Thank you for your years of dedication and service to all us 3%'rs.
It was a genuine pleasure meeting you in Colorado.
I sincerely hope our paths will cross again.

Al and Joanne,
Congrats on you new adventure! With 3 Buells in the garage and a 4th on the wish list, I am certain you will be hearing from me.

When I first started to read Tat's note I was preparing for the worst.
Now that the Mothership has abandoned us "Tubers" I initially thought we were losing another parts source.
I was delighted to see the American Sport Bike marque will still be there for us.

Tat, Marie and Melanie, good luck in all your future endevors.
Please pop in once in a while and let us know what you're up to.

From the Frozen Tundra of the Upper Midwest

When I first started to read Tat's note I was preparing for the worst.

My thoughts exactly. But talk about your classic win/win situation. Or make that win/win/win.

A win for Tat, Marie & Melanie, who go on to new challenges,

A win for Al and Joanne, taking on a super business,

A win for Buellers everywhere, to keep a super business under great new owners!

(but I am assuming that Al won't be too busy for OktoberFast/2004, right Al?)

Congratulations to all!
Dino

Badwebbers,
Thanks so much for the good words of encouragement. It means a lot to us.

Today was the first day of "running the biz", though with Tat, Maria, and Melanie still there training Joanne and me for a couple weeks, it's more like us being employees. They make it look so easy. But I tell ya, if every day is like this I'll be a nut case in a year!! Tat is a walking Buell encyclopedia, so if anyone has any tips on making a Vulcan mind meld work, let me in on it!!
And the tips for how to turn 24 hours into 36 would be good too!!

Seriously, we're gonna try real hard to be there for all of ya. The adventure begins!!

Thanks all,
Al (& Joanne)

Ya know, this is probably a really good time to own a Buell motorcycle. From here, the future for Buell motorcycles looks better than it ever has before.

Thank you Al & Joanne for investing your money, your time, your effort and your lives in this endeavor.

Best wishes and prayers for your success!
