i asked my son if he would mind saying a few words to our friends and family here on BADWEB: Hey Folks- On a brief vacation from Fort Lost in the Woods, Misery...get to come home for a couple weeks and take in the holidaze with family and friend. My father’s been doing a good job of keeping me updated on the postings, and I’ve been appreciative of the supportive comments, memories and advice towards my new partaking in the greatest Army on Earth. Training has been strenuous, yet enjoyable. Not many people can say they’ve driven a Humvee offroad, fired a M249 SAW Machine gun, learned combatives and thrown live hand grenades all in the same week. A few more weeks of Drill Sergeants and 0430, -6 degree, 8 inches of snow, t-shirts and shorts PT sessions and I’ll be hitching a ride to Korea (also a good Green Day song). My thanks go to everyone on BADWEB who’s been pitching in with their kind words, it brightens my day and I’m sure my dad’s as well. Merry Christmas to everyone, and I hope Santa brings you lots of little motorcycle toys. Best wishes, PFC Haughton, Wade L. Co C, 795th MP Bn ‘Comanches’ MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY! |

Ferris, Thanks for the post from Wade! You should be very proud of him. Dang, I still can't believe that he is grown. Happens so quick! I still can remember him, Brin and my son Kyle cutting a groove with me in my rag top Suzuki Sidekick during a SPASH event so many years ago. Happy holidays to all! Jim |

Captured......it's extremely fortunate they captured Saddam when they did. Intelligence sources report that he was going to use the $750,000 that was found with him to get plastic surgery and disappear forever. He even had a picture of what he wanted to look like. Unbelievable!

Merry Christmas from your Local, State and Federal Democrats... U.S. Government - AP New Motorcycle Emission Standards Set Tue Dec 23, 9:49 PM ET Add U.S. Government - AP to My Yahoo! WASHINGTON - The Environmental Protection Agency (news - web sites) on Tuesday set the first new emission standards for highway motorcycles in 25 years, and the first standards for small scooters and mopeds. EPA said it would reduce pollution from motorcycles, which produce more harmful exhaust per mile than cars or large SUVs, by about 54,000 tons of hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides per year. Hydrocarbons react with nitrogen oxides and sunlight to form ground-level ozone, a key component of smog. The agency said the regulations, which were proposed last year, also would save about 12 million gallons a year of gas escaping from vehicles' fuel hoses and fuel tanks. "These new rules significantly advance pollution standards for motorcycles," EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt said. Starting in 2006, manufacturers of highway motorcycles, small scooters and mopeds will be required to reduce emissions of those two chemicals by 60 percent by using improved technologies such as secondary air injection, electronic fuel injection systems and catalytic converters. Starting 2008, manufacturers also will be required to better control fuel loss through fuel hoses and tanks. The new emission controls are estimated to add about $75 to the $10,000 average cost of a motorcycle by 2010.
