Roger and Iceracer: I don't particularly need that aluminum arm - I have one on the S3 already and it wouldn't fit the S2 Just wanted to offer up my steel arm to Iceracer if he needed it. So if Roger needs an aluminum arm to spiff up the looks of his bike I have no problem stepping aside and letting the two of you deal. I'm posting here because Iceracer and I have been bouncing emails back and forth and not quite gotten in touch yet. Sorry for the waste of bandwidth. Contact me off list for further discussion. Karl that great looking S1W in my profile is taking a sabbatical at the mo'. The Azaro's were good tyres and at that time the only tyre approved in Germany (TUV standard) for Buell use. Rocket |

FMJ, Rex, Woz emailed me today, we talked ferrets back in 2000 at Daytona. Still have his biz-cards.... Plan on working out something with him. MikeJ, more loyal than a dog, more affectionate than a cat, and sneaky as hell! Carpet Sharks rule! |

http://www.jsonline.com/bym/news/dec03/193761.asp?format=print "Harley rolls out incentives to clear glut from 2003" Sign of the times, or change in the status quo? Or is it just a situation of circumstances. Time will tell. |

I saw a gorgeous vrod back in atlanta, painted in the orange and black harley theme. Tat makes some cool parts for them too....But the Vrod just doesn't fit me right...waiting for another version...REX |

Thanks Rocketman, I was originally running Pilot Sports but the rear tires on my F-bike were so squared off at 3300 miles I could stand the bike up without a kickstand! BMW only approves Michelin Pilots and Metzellers so I decided to move up to s sport-touring tire with better wear. I could find no discernible differece except for quick swerves and the Azarros felt a little better in the wet. If I get 7000 miles out of a rear (one riding season for me) I'll be happy. |

Karl I've run about 5 different tyres on mine - Avon Metzler Dunlops - and like you say I could find no discernible difference really but it really is some time ago. Rocket |

Hey everyone, I have a question (or two). Would I save any insurance dollars by purchasing a tuber as opposed to a Firebolt? I have a couple glitches on my record and I am only 23. How much worse will the ins. be than for my Blast? I am considering getting another Buell very soon. I can afford the bike but I dont know about the ins... I know I should be asking AAA these questions but thought I might get some information here first... I have been dreaming about the XB9R I test rode, but it would be really cool to get a Tube frame Buell to ride for a couple years first, and kinda work my way through my Buell evolution in steps |

At what torque/HP numbers should I start thinking about a chain conversion for my X1? |

Hey Sandblast, Obviously you should check with your current carrier, but I do have some previous experience in this area. When I bought my M2 the rate for full coverage on that bike alone was about 335.00. At the time, the Firebolt was just out. Full coverage was running about 2 grand for that bike. This for a married 44 year old with no tickets and a perfect driving record. Go figure. Do your homework and check the rates, but I think you'll find quite a spread between the tubers and the XB's. One note of interest: My rates recently doubled with this year's renewal due to the insurance companies figuring out that the Thunderstorm Buells are pumping out 91 HP. My advise: buy a '97 M2, build the motor (let Aaron have it for a week or two) and don't tell anybody. Incidentally; when I called for quotes on my M2 the rates were the same as the previous year UNTIL I gave them the VIN of the bike. My brother's M2 (a '97) which will kick the snot out of mine (so far...but just wait)had no rate change this year.If they only knew. Anyway, that's MY advise. '97 M2. I'm sure Blake and Aaron would agree.... Besides, once you ride an M2, you won't want an XB anymore. ck |

Ultra rare Billet Performance Machine Caliper and rotor found that converts bike to dual disc. I bought the kit from a Stealership that dropped Buell years ago. The kit comes with the leftside caliper that matches the billet unit on S2's and a correct directional rotor that matches the S2 rotor. It also comes with the correct master cylinder. This is a Buell part that is brand new and in the box. Make offers. LYONSDUNN@HOTMAIL.COM OR 256-466-8657 Cap |

Thank you Kaptainkirk, thats the kind of stuff I need to know. The problem is finding a 97 M2 at a dealer! See, I would be trading in the Blast (I cant have two). I still owe some $ on the one I have so I have to get my new bike from a dealer... So far in So. Cal I have found a 2000 X1 for $6,900! with 10,000 miles on it, and two new x1's. Anyone out there that knows where I should be looking? |

Hey guys, A couple of questions for the forum. 1. What do you guys think of the new retro Ducatis they want to introduce? Very nice bikes. 2. This may be preaching to the choir but is Buell ever going to come out with a sport-tourer again? If they would come out with such a bike with the v-rod powerplant I buy one in a second! 3. Have any of you guys read this month's Motorcyclist magazine? Peter Stark referred to the Buell XB12S as "truly the worst motorcycle I've ever ridden." WTF? The Buells I've ridden were quirky but I'm sure I'd get used to it. I believe this guy is full of crappola. I believe that BMW (And Harley and Triumph and th others) should be put on notice that the Italians (Aprilia and Ducati) seem to be at the top of their game right now and MotoGuzzi is rising star again as well. |

my young son is home on leave from the U.S. Army, will shortly be shipping out to South Korea to serve as an MP, and i feel compelled to share. i wrote the following words on his Christmas card, and i just hope he's not eavesdropping on BADWEB between now and then. Peace to All, and profound thanks to those in arms, past and present, who are protecting our right to be free citizens this Holiday season. Wade – This Christmas is extra special because you are here with us, and we are so thankful for that. You have a wonderful life awaiting you, full of adventure (and certainly some challenges), joy (and hopefully very little sorrow), passion (and perhaps a little pain), and we hope that the Heavens always shine brightly upon you as you grow into the man you’ve always been. Please always be careful, please always cover your partner’s back, please always look at the world with childlike wonder, please always appreciate the value of a true friend, please always share your wisdom and your smile with others not so blessed, and please always be true to who, and why, and what you know you are. Soon you will be a long way from home. But always know that you’re really not, as we – friends and family and loved ones and the innocent and the meek – are right here with you. Always. Love, Dad and Denise Christmas 2003 |

Seasons Greetings, Well it’s about that time again. Just wanted to thank Blake for offering the BBS forums to all of us for yet another year and of course the BBS sponsors. Plus all of the active moderators (unlike myself) that help the wheel turn. I can’t leave out all the active hooligans that generate the dialogue here either and people "like" Don Casto that put together the extensive Buell Archive Project. And a special thanks to those of you "like" Aaron that take the time to share and help others with technical issues on the Bad Weather Bikers’s. All of you contributors know WHO you are and I appreciate being associated with all of you! -JW:> |
