Blake wrote: Jim, I had intended to comment in detail and thoroughly on the listing about a week ago of all the gloomy sounding statistics that you posted, just as I was halfway down the list with my questions and comments, the damn PC locked up on me and I had failed to save my work. That was an hour down the drain. Anyway, to summarize, that list and most of the statistics it presented were extremely lacking in integrity. The whole thing appeared to be an orchestrated and carefully hand picked list of statistics published for the sole purpose of not to help us understand the truth, but to push a specific agenda. I guess I should revisit the list and rework my comments/questions. I hate redoing work like that. I guess you are worth it. Wow, Don't you hate it when that happens. Type a whole bunch'a stuff and then something screws up. I probably wouldn't of responed anyway, pretty busy nowadays and don't have much time on my hands. Oh, there's no doubt some of the information was skewed, just like most political information is. That's why the average citizen doesn't vote or care about what'z happening. -JW:> |

Saw 3 Tube Framers at Seaford HDB in Delaware. Two are $6K, and one $6995. S3T, X1, and I don't remember the other. Two of them only had 1 digit on the odometers. Wish I had $6K! They also had 2 XB9Rs for $7995. |

Wow, Thank you so much for all your replies. THankyou to MikeJ JEFFl FiremanJim and Ferris. I will be taking the advice you all gave me. Ferris, I am actually only coming over for a wedding in Seattle but making a small trip out of it at the same time. I really dont think I will get a chance to do any riding but can find time to check out some accesories that the shops in Australia dont seem to display, you have to order every thing. I do thank you though for your hospitality. The comradary in the motorcycling world is awesome isnt it. FiremanJim, what state and where abouts is Vallego? Cheers |

Interesting article. The bike was not in the subject population of the recall. My condolences remain with the Weaver family. It was a terrible accident and loss. |

Wow. Interesting that the side's experts disagreed on whether the "recall" clamp was in place. |

Bitchin' decision!!! That jury really has their head in the right place. I got sued twice personally and many times in product liability lawsuits. Won every time by merit of contributory negligence and the intelligent juries selected primarily by the plaintiff. Don't know the circumstances in this case but hitting a stop sign, flying 50' and getting squished by a SUV is comical. Not to mention a sticky throttle for a reported experienced motorcyclist should be no challenge at all. How many of us, besides me forget to flip off the aftermarket throttle lock and manually control the throttle? Yep, quite a few. End of argument.

"How many of us, besides me forget to flip off the aftermarket throttle lock and manually control the throttle?" I've never been lazy enough in my riding habits to own one or maybe I'm just not that foolish. Also even a semi-experienced rider should know what a kill switch is for.

"S2T Must be clean, low mileage, and cheap. " Mine needs to be washed, it's not a "T" model, it has over 20,000 miles on it, and it isn't "cheap". Besides, the S2 is winning the coin flip over the M2 currently. Just have to retrieve the Hoser list of performance upgrades that he posts on the site every once in awhile. |

I have a clean S-2 for sale also.Be aware that the S-2T was only available in 1996 and the only differences from an S-2 were--cosmetic;different colored frame and sideplates, and mechanical;higher bars(which I have on) and lower peg mounts(still available from Buell and I have one)the lowers, also still around on EBay,etc.and the hardbags, which there is some debate over their merits.(I have had RKA softbags for 8 yrs and love them)Again still out there as I just bought a pair for my other S-2.Bike has 15,000 miles(low for an S-2)and had a top end redone last year because when I bought last year with 5000 miles the valve seals were hardened.Had Nallin redo the heads and it has Supertrap.Runs very nice.$3900.00 |

Need Some Help form NJ/NY or NV riders. I still need some oil change supply receipts from either the Reno, NV area or NJ/NY area. To make a long story short, in order to get my money back refund, on the extended warranty I purchased on my 99 X1(Harley had a special deal in 99 that offered money back if you didn't use it) I need to show proof of maintenance, and I can't find all my receipts. I think I must have trashed some during the move. So anybody who could be so kind as to fax or email as attachment any invoices they have that could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Any Invoices from 9/01 to the present would be helpful as long as they show either Oil, Trans Fluid, or Filter purchases. I don't know why they are making me show all this but that's what they're asking for. Fax numbers: NJ Area - 732-605-2539 NV Area - 775-327-6688 renohiker@y... Thanks in advance to anyone that can help. Tom Milic 99 X1 Racing Stripe |

The VFR has been getting rave reviews from the cycle mags, as you know, V2win. And California is a long way from Missouri just for a bike! And who'd believe a claim of 15,000 miles. And red is such a wrong colour for a bike unless its a Ducati. Still waiting for the lawyers to decide if I can ever afford a bike again |

I think I must have trashed some during the move. " Reno, Unless you are claiming payment you do not need the proof of maintenance. Any claims made against the policy/warranty during it's term are deducted from what you can get back along the way. There is no proof required if you are simply cancelling it. Perhaps someone at the warranty or dealership you are using is confused and is thinking you are making a claim against it. I have the same or a similar policy/warranty and all I have to do is go back to the dealership I got it through (in person, or telephone, or email) and have them contact the warranty people and order a cancellation/refund. I've already priced this several times along the way to see how much proration was left (currently between 55%-70% of the full amount at last check). If it has run to the end of its term then they have to pay you, with or without documentation. I don't recall reading anywhere in the original contract that proof of maintenance is required. If they still want proof then have them send you a copy of the original contract and have them highlight exactly where it says this documentation is required. I could be wrong on this, but I don't think I am. Please follow up and let us know how it all turns out. You do not need to commit an act of fraud (receipts for service and supply that are not in fact accurate) to get the refund portion. If in fact the proof is required and is noted in the warranty contract then maybe the dealerships you used can look through their purchase records and printout your purchase history. One insurance company wanted proof of purchase on items on my bike and the company/dealership I used for most of my stuff (Hal's) was able to go back to my original purchase of the bike and print out my entire purchase history of parts and supplies. Jen had to do it as a background task and it took a few weeks to compile it all, but she got it done, showed dates of purchase, items and costs, and so forth. Maybe the dealerships you've used track customers, or not, or maybe they won't want to take the time to help you out. I still don't think proof of maintenance is required for a refund, it sounds more like they are looking for a scheister-loophole to get out of paying you - in which case take them to court and start with Harley/Buell customer service since the contract was originated with the corporation. Keep us posted in any case. Good luck. |

The other day I was riding my 98 S1W and it started sputtering like I was out of gas and needed to switch the petcock to my reserve position. Just about the time I reached down to twist the valve, it starts running fine again. I was going about 75 mph on the highway. Is just possibly bad gas, or an electrical thing? Anybody else experienced it? Thanks in advance! Danny |
