I wrote this over on the Borg & just wanted you guys to see it. It was an answer to a question if I bitched to Erik about my bike.

"Its me. Just because I post on the web about what a pos my bike is does not mean it consumes every single minute of my life & thats all I do. There is a time & a place for everything & right now is not a time for it. I do admire Erik for what he has accomplished...its a hell of a lot more than any of us have done....& the new XB's are light years ahead of the old tube frame bikes in every way. I dont personally blame Erik for my bike..he didnt build the damn thing nor did he "repair" it every time. Its strictly a dealer issue...I have said that over & over..some dealers suck major ass & I'll not be dealing with them in any way shape or form.

I would seriously consider a new 12S but I wouldnt buy it from the pricks in my town. Either Brian at Tilleys or Dave in Iowa would get the $$. I like the looks of the bikes, they fit me physically & I think the new colors are sharp. Get a dealer who will stand behind you & you wont have any warranty issues.

PS..so far except for a few isolated issues..Mavs tranny & a couple others..the bikes are proving to be reliable. Certainly no worse than any other manufacturer out there right now. Buell knows the history of their bikes & knows the reputation they have to overcome...Erik stated that last night...but so long as they keep working on improving stuff they may just beat it.

Look at the XB9 & the belt issues they had..Buell knew about it & worked on a solution & came up with one. People asked for a bigger motor & more power & they delivered...sure its still no Busa in the power dept but the bike is still way better than any of us."

Dyna, you've had an epiphany! If Scott's 9S didn't do it for you I don't know what else could, that bike's mean.
I came home early with James (the nut who rode the Blast from CA). I hated to have him ride back to Waterloo alone & break down. The bad news was that a valve guide broke & killed the head. We're leaning on him pretty heavy to trade it in on something bigger.

But he at least made it back there right? I know he was going to have the top end replaced, but then he also really liked the bigger bike when he rode em....hmm decisions decisions.

James' bike is in the shop waiting for a new head. I gave him a loaner bike(2000 S3) so he could ride while he was here. He's staying with IaMike. I even put him and Mike to work yesterday taking some bikes to a local mall for a display. Thanks you two for helping me out.

James is a good guy that I have been riding with for years. I'm sorry to hear he is having trouble but very glad that he is among friends and being treated like family.

Hang tough James.

Hello all, I'm back at school with access to the net, so I shall be visiting quite a bit more. OCBUELLEr, could you email me your address, I have a Shirt for you from the York Harley Final Assembly plant where I work between semesters, wanted to repay you for your gift. I just got back here to beautiful Indiana PA, and will be bringing my M-2 up here in about another two weeks. Anybody around this area, hell even an hour away that wants to ride, let me know.
Well my dreams for a Nallinized M-2 were shot this past summer. Made a fair amount of money, but my girls car needed some major work, and I somehow managed to pass a kidney stone at 22 yrs old. The bill was about about as much as the 1250cc kit, and the bill for the girls car was the heads. All well, I shall have my dreams come true of the 100 plus horses I want to get out of it someday.
Ride safe guys BRIAN

I see at S-2 at 12:40. Never saw the factory XB.

The Hayabusa guys sure love their bikes and are sure looking forward to getting one over 200MPH aren't they?

I think they did it. And despite the silly 200 mph drinking club's rule, he will be invited to wear a patch.

From suzukihayabusa.org:
"Hank Booth (Hank) set a new world speed record on the Bonneville Salt Flats on Friday, 22 AUG 2003, with speeds over 235 MPH, breaking the existing record of 186 MPH.

By setting this record, and by exceeding the 220 MPH minimum of the BONNEVILLE 200 MILES PER HOUR CLUB, Hank is eligible for becoming one of less than 4 dozen motorcycle members admitted in the entire 50 year history of the club.

Should Hank accept the honor?"

Ahem....clearing throat....The FIRST BUELL TOTAL BAFFOON AWARD goes to...

((cue drum roll)

Father DAVE GESS, who in one fell swoop takes both the AWARD and ANY apprehension I have about my age and the ill effects of Courtsheimers.

I will leave it to him to relate just how he crushed all contenders and took the award with no 2nd place challengers even close....

1 week back from 2 weeks at Pennsic, ( SCA middle ages event, see SCA.org) & was told there were a couple of Buells there! (missed them darn it) Anyone here ride to Pennsic??

This next week I try to put a S3 fairing on my M2L. Wish me luck! (offer advice too please) (as if I could stop you )

Also, any thoughts on why i keep bouncing off the rev limiter as I pass under the 6 lane bridge near home? Maybe the Wileyco?

Question and comment. How does one properly bleed the front brake on a M2? There must be air or someting in mine, as the lever is spongy and no matter how much I bleed it, it still is spongy?

Comment: The sport trans I put in the primary this time did not leak a drop around the primary gasket or the shifter shaft seal. Put about 300 miles on it today and no problems whatsoever.

Man. took one of my favorite rides today and was plagued by motor coaches on the road doing the obligatory 20 mph around 60 mph sweepers leaving a train of motorists fuming behind. Whatever happened to good road manners? If driving one of these super cages, pull over when the tail you have behind you is more than 3 cars deep or something. Yeesh!

Parts should be in today and we'll get him on his way out of Iowa soon. He has been tooling around with IaMike on a S3 that I loaned him(gosh, I hope he didn't just head for home with it) He stopped in the shop Sat. and I think they were planning on going for a ride yesterday.
All is well.

FMJ - if it dont come out of the truck at the event, and is sealed in your tank, its Fuel. And you are in the Fuel class, which means you have to have an extra shutoff (mounted on the handlebars amd usable without taking your hands off the grips) and fire shielding on a ALL fuel lines (the ruels say "all un-valved lines", but what they REALLY mean is ALL fuel lines).

Didn't notice this here yet...don't know what type of Buell he was on, but big props to Jim for finishing the 2003 Iron Butt:

"Jim Hickerson was called up to receive his trophy for a 54th-place finish on his Buell. A heckler in the crowd made rude remarks to the effect that the machine should have been placed in the Hopeless Class. Hickerson didn't blink. "How many BMWs failed and how many Buells failed?" he asked rhetorically."

edit: looks like he was on an S3T
