If that is anything like bicycling the next legislative step will be to outlaw motorcycles from the roadways. How dare a rider get in the way of some self-important induhvidual. |

The scary part (for me) is the Big Brother "black box" in the Cadillac that they can recover data from. Next thing ya know, they'll be tracking us with satellite's. Wait... they can already do that with OnStar. doh! Jody S. |

Thinking about buying an Avon Tire? Please reconsider. My son has an Avon AV50 SP on the back of his Triumph Speed Triple and not only didn’t it give him the traction or wear he expected, but it’s falling apart. The tires are not yet down to the wear bars and the tire is delaminating along the center line. The delamination stripe is just over 1/3rd of the way around the tire. It was replaced with a Bridestone BT010. FWIW: I’m running a Metzeler Sportec M1 and I just love it. I haven’t had it on the bike long enough to know how about tread life and it’s been a hot, dry summer so I can’t even tell you about wet weather traction.

Ray: I have an Avon Venom X on my Sportster with 18,000 miles on it, and I'm not down to the wear bars yet. I had an Avon Roadranger on the rear with 15,000 on it, till a large screw put a premature end to it's life this July. They work well in the rain and I have gotten excellent wear out of them. I will be looking at Avons for my XB when my Dunlop 208's wear out. |

The Avon SP is a VERY soft tire. It looks like he is doing a LOT of highway riding as there is a lot of wear in the center of the tire. Avon is REALLY good about tire problems. If you got a bad one they will replace it. If you have any problems with that contact me as I have the contact info for Avon's american rep office in Seattle. Do not condem a whole tire manufacturer because of one tire. Avon makes some very killer tires Dustykat edited by dustykat on August 19, 2003 |

I need guidance. I have been working too much, and need help getting ready for Bonneville. Where do I get entry forms, and where are we staying? I realize I'm a bit tardy, but I really have been busy, I didn't think I was going to get to go...but today I got mad and decided its, 'Bonneville or Bust' I'll be bringing the Gix 1K and will be breaking the 1000CC PP record. Who do I send money to? Paul |

Glitch; that BMW ad is for real - I have connections in the company It is supposedly posted right outside one of the HD plants (in Milwaukee ??) Just got back from 2 days at STAR School at Loudon. What a hoot. I'm still slow as molasses, but am having a ball. We had Jason Pridmore, Josh Hayes, Richie Alexander, Dean Mizdal, Steve Mikolas (RRW), Roger Bell, Buzz (??) and a few other top of the industry riders as instructors. Very cool to be pulled in by Josh Hayes. who politely told me that I was doing well (I told you he was being polite ), being smooth, but needed to look further through the turn to consistently hit my markers. Very cool. For anyone serious about their riding skills, a track school is a very good way to avoid many bad habits. Henrik |

REX FROM AMERICAN SPORT BIKE NIGHT IS IN THE HOSPITAL I POSTED THIS ON SACBORG AND FORGOT TO GET IT ON OVER HERE: Well, this is not such a good news. On the Blue Butt Ralley this weekend, Rex had a small high side. Going 10 to 15 mph. This happened on one of the last 180's on forest road 7, just before getting back on Highway 50. Very minor damage to the bike .......( Buell's do crash good )........ he seemed OK, so we got gas a few miles away and started back to Reno. After riding 52 miles, just before getting to Carson City, he pulled off and said he couldn't ride anymore. I call 911 and explained that he had fallen off about an hour ago and ridden this far and now needed an ambulance............ not an immediate emergency........... after waiting about 15 minutes here comes an emergency fire truck, ambulance and three state troopers, all with sirens and red lights going. The rescue guys said they.......(the troopers) just love speeding up and down 50 with the sirens going.........(great winding road with wonderful sweepers). They load him up and off he goes, while I wait for the Blue Butt crew to pick up his bike. About an hour and a half later I get to the hospital in Carson City. By then they had put to the chest cavity drain in and were getting ready to air vac him to Reno. By the time I get to Reno............. about 45 minutes....... they are finished with the X-rays and exam. He had a broken collarbone, four broken ribs and a broken ankle. His chest cavity was filling up with blood making it hard to breathe............a good reason to finally stop riding. Anyway........ that was late Saturday. I just talked to his wife, Theresa, who is staying up with him. He is still drifting in and out from morphine, but feels better. The blood in the urine has stopped and the blood from the chest cavity is minimal at this time. The hospital # is 775-982-4100, room 122....bed 2........(to match his M2). His cell phone is 925-451-3560......probably the best # to call is the cell! UPDATE Wed.AM.........drain tube out........first time outta bed.......(walked to the bathroom with a walker)......"HAD TO" as the catheter is out also......still on oxygen......first solid food.....(didn't know cream of wheat was considered solid???).......I know he would really love to hear from you guys..... ride safe...........Jack edited by jvv on August 20, 2003 |

Ray, I have an Avon Venom X on my Sportster (like Chainsaw). I put over 4000 miles on it a few weeks ago (Sturgis trip) and it still looks new. That includes highway and twisty riding as well as a day of riding in 109 degree temperatures in beautiful (not ) Texas. Looks like your son may have got a lemon. Mark |

Guys, Just got back from East Troy, it was a phenominal time. Lots of awesome people, lots of hot bikes. We even got a tour of the original Buell factory (garage is more like it) at Eric's old house. Got to see some of the original square 4 blocks in the shop, some of the Pittsburgh Performance Products brake discs made way back in the day. One of the barns even had forms for body work that looked like it was from an RR. Thanks for an awesome time, I'll post pics later. Off to get the soaked leathers hung up and some dinner. Prior |
