Rocket- The company your reffering too with the Kevlar is Fast Company and you can purchase thier kevlar riding gear from this website: http://www.dragginjeans.com They also produce a 100% kevlar riding shirt. Very interesting. They used to have a video section and there was a clip of a guy being drug on his arse by a dragster! I can't seem to find it on the site now though. |

That's 'em Derek. I tried that shirt on at the Ally Pally RR Show back in January. Very cool too! Rocket |

Ross ... couple the high price of shipping the thing across oceans with the fact that I can purchase a new one at considerable discount and it just doesn't make sense. But thanks! |

I found this site and it seems to be a pretty cool setup; is this something new or have I just been under a rock? http://www.convertibars.com/index.cfm |

Rocket- Nice! How comfy was it? did the shirt seem scratchy to the skin at all? I have some kevlar work gloves like meat cutters use and after a while they start to scratch my skin. Also I was wondering how small the weave of the fiber is? my gloves are pretty big weave. I wonder if its small enough to wear as a normal shirt or if you need an under shirt to go in and have dinner after a ride or a meeting? I thought about ordering one but I just can't do it right now.. I wish I could find that video too it was hilarious! |

Hi, without being incredibly specific I had the opportunity a week or so ago to check out the top speed on my S2. I held it WOT for about 4 minutes (it was a long straight) and she leveled off at 122 mph and stayed there, with me laying down pretty well. It's a stock '96 CA S2, V&H SS2R c/f muffler, Edelbrock Qwiksilver II carb, #12 needle (with both needle height and idle speed adjusters), leaned out 24 clicks from full rich. Last time I checked the plugs they looked like they should, I get 44.5 mpg riding the way I ride - not sure quite how to describe that - let's say fun riding. Bike starts fine, idles fine, never a carb fart, etc. At WOT the bike seems to pull nicely although I could not achieve redline in 5th. Prolly 500 rpm or so short? Anyway, does this sound right for an S2 such as mine or do I have some tweaking to do? Could be I need a larger needle (#13?) to get a little more juice at WOT. Thanks for listening. |

Jim, where in the world can you hold WOT for 4 minutes? |

That seems a little slow. I too did some confidential testing of top speed recently and I just about maxed out my 99 M2 at 120. That is with me sitting straight up in the breeze. Although I only maintained that speed for about 10 seconds. Dave |

Ara, there is a straight section of road, not too far from Ferrisville, that is out in the boonies. This particular stretch is about 7 miles long, so I was a little off in my time estimate. The eastern end has some whoops in it that, at speed, definitely will, er, uh, lighten your ride a bit. The western two thirds are just about perfectly flat and straight. In fact, Ferris will be riding it this weekend on his way to Laguna Seca... If my bike were faster I wouldn't be able to hold it WOT for so long... Dave, I thought it was a little slow too as I seem to recall FMJ broke into the 130 club with a stock CA S2. |

But, about our little controversy: Want to spend a few hours wringing out your Pitts S2B, chasing that trophy? You'll be sittin' behind a Lyc. AEIO-540. Capt. Pete, the truth of the the matter on engine controversies is I would take a 300hp turbo'd Toyota engine over either the Lyc. or the Continental. Toyota Aviation has experimented with creating such a powerplant. Toyota's technology and reliability is far ahead of the 40's based technology used by Lyc. and Continental. As my engine nears TBO and I search for alternatives I can only dream... <sigh>

Jim_sb, That sounds like what I achieved with my S2 last summer. Check my profile for engine mods, but know that I still had the stock S2 ignition module at the time of my run. |

Kevyn: These are apparently different; you can actually change the rise on these. The cyclecat ones look like they are static. |

I got an indicated 135 out of my 48 state, near stock M2. I was quickly running out of road but I thought I could have touched 140 if I had more space.

The kevlar shirt and jeans are made in Hickory, NC. The shirt is a very good investment and makes a great undershirt. I've used mine for two seasons without any issues. If you have a need for one or two, let us know and we'll get them headed your way. Just send $ and we will get them headed your way. Be Safe

You know that was back in January Derek and I can't so much remember the detail, sorry. When you say shirt I presumed you meant shirt like a Levi which I meant as a jacket. It was more jacket than shirt and it was available in black and another colour which might have been blue. It looked way cool with a nice close weave, or at least close compared to my kevlar Oakley paddock type shoes. The jeans have some kind of comfort panels stitched inside them if I remember right. You need to find that video because my memory is terrible LOL Rocket |

BWB KV strikes again. Thanks Saro and Aaron for suggesting I use a claw hammer to get the Blast! tank mounts off. I was beginning to think they were glued on. I'm shipping the bike to a friend in Oregon, and have to completely empty the tank. For those interested, the tank holds about a quarter gallon after the bottom of the reserve runs dry. I used a siphon pump to get most of it, but had to turn it upside down and hold back the rubber splash neck with my thumb to get the rest of it. Pain in the arse. I smell like dead dinosaurs. |

Speaking of Fast Company...a few years back, before they got into clothing... they made this nifty Roadracer bodywork...now residing on my 95 883/1200 Sportster, this past winters project. I picked it up from a Racing friend who had it..he found it in a newspaper add in North Carolina where he lives. Now all I get asked is "What kind of Buell is that?" The front fender is a hand laid fiberglass one made by a friend in NC also..very similar to HD's Cafe front fender, though heavier. Other pics of it here: http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/racerxlsr/lst?.dir=/Rattler+Cafe+Racer&.view=t Dale A. LSR#1012

A Buell commercial I found... It's in quicktime format, and it shows a guy riding an X1 (I think)... It's all black and white. The narrator says... Uh...I feel... That this has given me the most incredible and wonderful thing that I have ever been given...and also the worst...It's a mixed bag...Uh...Uh...I have been...taken to the...absolutly to the depths of...extreme terror...by this...I have had my whole soul undermined by it...On the one hand...On the other hand..Uh in one sense my...my... experience has been about finding joy... Kinda says it all, the writer obviously is a Bueller... |

Does anyone have any info on the 2003 XB9S Pro Series Race Kit? Does the exhaust give the bike a deeper throatier sound? |

Dale A., Most Awesome Cafe Sportster! Rocket, good on your Yorkshireman. Those of us hopelessly addicted to flying owe all those aviation pioneers a debt of gratitude. I'm sure gliders are fun but we use ours as a serious family traveling machine, which is exactly what it is. The fun part is just a bonus! Now, anyone know what Buell is cooking up for 2004? It's the 8th of July and I'm curious... |

johnyoneshot, i have a 9S with race kit, and it definitely sounds way better than stock, but not even close to the sound of a tuber with race kit! from my experience, the mid-range power feels unaffected by the kit, a slight increase on the top end. cheers...
