I suggest that since you live overseas give up on the HD plugs and instead get you some NGK DPR9EA9 plugs. Almost any motorcycle dealer will have them in stock and IMHO they are better than the HD plugs. Just make sure that you get some screw on terminals for them before leaving the shop.

Well folks, it is time for my first impressions of my new Firebolt XB9R. I try to name all my bikes to give them some sort of personality. For instance, the streettracker's name is Elanor, she is moody, finicky, but she has alot of class. The Bolt's name is Trigger, cause this thing is a horse!! People told me it was foolish to buy a motorcycle that I had never ridden a day in my life, but as with every other instance with a Buell motorcycle, I was not dissapointed. You read all the war stories associated with sport bikes in all the mags whining about they sit uncomfortable, or the handle too twitchy, my response to that is that there are plenty of Electra Glides aka. Geezer Glides as we call 'em 'round here to choose from. I love it, 250 style handling, awesome brakes, and smooth power delivery. Granted it is not a serious power broker right out of the box, but as my good friend and GNC level rider Scott Scherb told me one time, never let them pass you on the out side, the way you handle a bike with less power, is to quit whining and just ride harder. As a former and I stress former Hayabusa owner I was schooled in the curves by plenty of 90hp 600's. My overall impression of the bolt is it is by far the most agressive racebike with a taillight to come out of Mr. Buell's stable. From a young rider's standpoint, it is the ultimate streetfighter, it is small, light, sounds good and is decently fast. For the older riders who get cramped up just thinking about it, just remember, if it is too loud you are too old. Keep the shiny side up, dirty side down, and remember, IF YOU AIN'T SLIDIN' YOU AIN'T RIDIN'!!!

Seth: Try going to the "Storm Fronts" section and find the section where you live. If you're in the great Pacific Northwest your in luck for sure.

Scrap - Have you worn in your 130 HP engine yet? Does it still use the Buell Fuel injection system?

Anyone know what an automotive equivalent to the Buell fuel injectors is? I think the Injectors are the same for all of the FI Buells.

Roc,
That question has been asked before (incl by me in '99) but I've never seen an answer posted.
At one point I took my injectors to an Diesel/Gas specialty shop here in St Louis and not only had they never seen such a thing, but it was physically too large to fit any of their machines (I needed them cleaned).

Want to get into a vintage race in your area with a press pass?

There is a small catch though... read on...

The SuperModel and I have a new venture, http://www.VintageRacingNews.com and we need "reporters" to get out to vintage events. Right now, all we can offer is a press pass into the event, and perhaps cover some of your expenses. In the future, if/when this becomes a money making afair, we can offer more, but a press pass, and a hearty "well done" is about it for now.

So... got a digital camera? Like vintage races? Concours? Auctions? let us know where you live (in the US, UK, EU or wherever) and we'll hook you up with an event in your area.

Examples: The Goodwood Festival, The Historic GP at Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta, VIR, The Meadowbrook Concours, The Barret-Jackson Auction, The Mid-America Motorcycle Auction Las Vegas, on and on...

Not just autos and motorcycles, but boats and airplanes too. Air races, classic boat concours, vintage unlimited hydro races... You name it. We're developing a database of upcoming events and should have it live on the site in a week or so (doing the database backend right now).

Anyone interested? reply to: editor@vintageracingnews.com

Buell seems to have done some smart things in terms of lowering unit production cost, along with other areas, for the XB bikes. This would lead me to believe that the injectors are some standard unit that is in wide use. Maybe I will need to tour some other bike shops.

Anyone know if the Buell injectors are used in any other bikes?

Pammy, HA!

I took the S1 out yesterday and came back with a grin frozen to my face. No snow and clean roads...One thing is for sure though, this place is as flat as Florida. Maybe even flatter....

As for a good Buell shop? Looks like Loki will be venturing over towards the DC area.

MagikMak,

Things are going pretty good for now.

oh yes, there is hope fellow buellers, finally after weeks of unbearable weather(sometimes at 0 degrees or less with windchill)it got up to 42 degrees today here in massachusetts. i managed to put a good 75 miles on my cyclone!!! a sunny fun-lovin' 42 degrees!!! it was great! if i can get at least 1 day a week like that throughout the winter months i might not go stir-crazy!
so keep your fingers crossed all of you in the frozen tundra, you too might get a balmy 42 in your neck of the woods, i hope you do!

winter DOES suck -- only got to mid-60's here today. took a lap of the lake on the VFR, after it's just-completed major service, got frisky 'cause it was workin' so well, lit the fuse and made the needle get cozy for a second with 150.

passed a California Highway Patrol black and white heading the opposite direction in the process (dammit!), got pulled over, got thanked for not evading, and got let go with a casual verbal warning to slow down in the future.

(oh, he also commented that the Viffer seemed to be running "pretty good".)

yep, winter sucks.

Hey! I just rolled over 6,200 miles on my new bike and I haven't had to have the rocker box gaskets replaced yet! The Y2K M2 only got to 5,800 before it sprang a leak.

So far there have been no electrical gremlins, nothing has vibrated off and the shock hasn't puked it's oil yet. It's been almost 4,000 miles sense the last oil change and 100% of the oil that belongs inside of the engine is still inside of the engine. How cool is that!

I don't really care if the dealer is "good" or not because I never have to go there. The only thing wrong with my bike is that Motor Scooters kick my butt on the freeway.

Roc...just see if you can find or cross reference the part # in an auto parts store. I found out I could get the same horn for my Buell at an auto parts store for half of what it cost me at a stealership...it's a small item but hey, if you can get the same thing for cheaper...what the hell? I'm sure there's a lot more I could find. Most auto parts stores have plugs for our bikes, too.

======================

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/amarace/petition.html
To: Scott Hollingsworth, CEO of AMA Pro Racing

This petition is intended to discourage AMA Pro Racing from eliminating some of their smaller racing classes (such as 250GP, 750 Supersport, Pro Thunder and Formula Xtreme). We realize that AMA Pro Racing feels it will be a profitable and successful choice to remove these classes, but think that it is misguided. Classes such as these allow privateer racers to compete on the same level as factory teams, developing rider skill, sponsor base and national media coverage. All this allows start-up racers to be recognized and become the professional factory riders that move on to compete in higher classes of racing. We enjoy watching 600 Supersport and Superbike races, but know that the sport would not be the same if these were the only two classes available to compete in on a national level. We ask the CEO and executives of AMA Pro Racing to reconsider any thoughts they have about eliminating these pivotal racing classes.
=======================================

Thanks,
Tim

To all Buell owners:

Avoid this person: Donald Bortz, 5105 Excellence Blvd #456, Tampa Fl 33617

He has posted on Badweb as Meditr0n

He recently sold me a Force exhaust which was cracked and when I asked for a refund he has refused. Now he won't even return e-mails.

Blake,
Law enforcement is probably not the way I will go. I am debating using a few connections I have on some less "cultured" boards to handle this.
