Thank you all for the very kind offers...Some good ideas too. The playboy bunny analogy had me chuckling pretty hard.
The mystery chart was Aaron's own M2 and I think it is a bit newer that 1992.
The site is the consequence for a very bad business decision. I think I can learn it myself, really. It's something I need to do. I just want to make it basic and straightforward. No frills, but plenty 'o' info. I'm a simple gal so people don't expect much from me....

Croft,

Candice H. of Golden State BRAG made her new M2 feel lower by converting to the narrow seat & tail pieces from an earlier model.

You're right, I should have said how much lower.
I think about one inch. Do you think a Corbin seat would lower my bike this much?

For some reason they did not include the Buell totals for this chart.

Pammy,

I'm certain that I think for quite a few of us who say that we would be happy to give you a free helping hand. Many people who want to start out designing web pages usually get a "template" from someone with a bit more experience. Then you can look it over and start to figure out how they did it. Its how I learned.

If you have some ideas, I'll be happy to do some work for you pro bono.

That's why I hang around here...you folks are some of the nicest people a person could want to meet.

It's not because I'm cheap(although, I am). I have to be able to change things at the spur of the moment if I need to. Wes is always doing something different and I need to keep up. It's something I promised myself I would, at least, quasi-learn to do. Of course I am still trying to teach myself to play the guitar(this white gal sure don't have no rythm). Hopefully the website thing will go better.

Croft,
Not sure about Corbin seat, but M2L seat will get you an inch. You really want to try one if possible. If it's leg length that the issue width as well as height is important. I have a spare M2L seat. I bought a Buell Custom.

Croft,
See if you can find an S1 to sit on. The narrower width as mentioned by Sparky does wonders. The L seat is cut lower, or you could carve out your's or insert a gelpad under the cover like some have done. If you're stature is such that you need it lower, you may also want to check to see that you have the underspring set for your weight. Don't go too soft, but if it's set up for someone heavy and you're light you might be able to gain more loose a little seat height there as well. But on the suspension, adjust for use, not for height, these things get funky when set up wrong.
I wonder if you could just carve out the side/lip foam from the front of your seat to improve the standover.

José,

So if my rough math is correct, Buell accounts for about 2% of HD motorcycle revenues about 4% of the total motorcycle units sold or around 30% of it's t-shirt and clothing sales?

On the topic of WEB design. My biggest question as I try to learn this stuff is organazation. The Buell History (along with davegess.com) web site is gonna be huge with lots of pictures and lots of links. I have built a directory stucture that I think will work well BUT I have not done it before and really don't want to have to redesign something so basic as that 6 months from how.

Does any one have any references to good tutorials or books on how to sturucture a page.

I have stuff on accessability, design ideas, etc but nothing on how to stucture a big complicated site to make it realtivily easy to keep track of.

Thanks

>>>2003 production target for Harley-Davidson brand motorcycles at 289,000 units.

Interesting in view of the fact that "Plan 2003" held 200,000 units as the goal in 2003. I'd say they far exceeded that.

Greatest threat will come, after the glitz of this years commemorative paint jobs ebbs, if they can't "reconnect", recognize their evolving demographics and act.

Another story, just below the one Aaron posted, says much....A Harley spokesman didn't immediately return a phone call from The Associated Press seeking comment Tuesday

I'd be hoping, by this stage of the Twin Cam bearing debacle, they's have their "spin" outsourced and delivering a cohesive message. "NIH" paralysis could bite'em in the butt.

Court: You're probably right that only refinements will be made to the XBs in 2004, but I think that's unfortunate. The thing needs more fuel capacity if it's ever going to become a bike that's attractive to the general motorcycling public.

The king of motorcycle makers, in a conference call with investors and analysts, cautioned that it expected revenue from general merchandise to decline in 2003 from last year's strong results which were fueled by sales of clothing and accessories commemorating its 100th anniversary.

The company left unchanged its 2003 production target for Harley-Davidson brand motorcycles at 289,000 units, a surprise to some investors who had been expecting an increase.

"It's a bit disappointing," said Joe Hovorka, an analyst with Raymond James & Associates, which does not have an investment banking relationship with the company.

The company said a 3.8 percent rise in shipments of its Harley-Davidson motorcycles and strong sales of clothing and accessories for its centennial drove fourth quarter results.

Whoopee,

Imagine that, reality really sucks ... with the economy taking a huge hit in the last 2 years with massive layoffs in just about every working sector in the country, our manufacturing exclusively going overseas for cheaper labor, corporate scandals/crooks not held accountable for their actions, insurance, medical cost and medicine skyrocketing, education cost not allocated properly, individual state governmental budgets totally busted and out of control, our government bailing out the airlines (or anyone else) and spending money like they won some sort of World Loto, then trying to cut taxes on top of everything. You haven’t seen anything yet, someone has to pay for it sooner or later and you know who that’s going to be.

If the consumer doesn’t have the greenbacks to spend due to no cash flow coming in (AKA unemployment) and/or their job situation isn’t stable, their not going to spend their greenbacks. Something the first Bush didn’t seem to comprehend, nor the new Humpty Dumpy.

In the last 3 years we’ve had 3 new HD dealerships open and a 4th one adding a huge expansion (Chosas). They’ve cut back on their staff, they can’t seem to sell a bike and their mechanics aren’t working a 40-hour week. Duh … I wonder why.

Then there's :
The Stella Awards...It's time once again to consider the candidates for the annual Stella Awards. The Stella's are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled coffee on herself and successfully sued McDonalds.
That case inspired the Stella awards for the most frivolous successful lawsuits in the United States.

The following are this year's candidates:

1. Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas, was awarded $780,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The owners of the store were, understandably, surprised at the verdict, considering the misbehaving little toddler was Ms. Robertson's son.

2. A 19-year-old Carl Truman of Los Angeles won $74,000 and medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Mr. Truman, apparently, didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's hub caps.

3 ..Terrence Dickson of Bristol, Pennsylvania, was leaving a house he had just finished robbing by way of the garage. He was not able to get the garage door to go up since the automatic door opener was  malfunctioning. He couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the house and garage locked when he pulled it shut. The family was on vacation, and Mr.Dickson found himself locked in the garage for eight days. He subsisted on a case of Pepsi he found, and a large bag of dry dog food. He sued the homeowner's insurance, claiming the situation caused him undue mental anguish. The jury agreed to the tune of $500,000.

4. Jerry Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, was awarded $14,500 and medical expenses after being bitten on the buttocks by his next door neighbor's beagle. The beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. The award was less than sought because the  jury felt the dog might have been just a little provoked at the time by Mr. Williams who was shooting it repeatedly with a pellet gun.

5.  A Philadelphia restaurant was ordered to pay Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, $113,500 after she slipped on a soft drink and broke her coccyx (tailbone). The beverage was on the floor because Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument.

6.  Kara Walton of Claymont, Delaware, successfully sued the owner of a night club in a neighboring city when she fell from the bathroom window to the floor and knocked out her two front teeth. This occurred while Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the window in the ladies room to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge. She was awarded $12,000 and dental expenses.

7.  This year's favorite could easily be Mr. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On his first trip home, having driven onto the freeway, he set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back and make himself a cup of coffee. Not surprisingly, the R.V. left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Mr. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising him in the owner's manual that he couldn't actually do this. The jury awarded him $1,750,000 plus a new motor home. The company actually changed their manuals on the basis of this suit, just in case there were any other total morons buying their recreation vehicles.

The Stella who "sucessfully" sued McDonalds lost most of the money she won on the appeal. This is true for most of these crazy awards. Of course it is not much of headline when the award is overturned only when it first given out.

Sorta like the "cloned Baby" story. No clone, not even a baby but a really big headline.

It's like I need web design 101 and everyone is offering the post grad stuff. Looking for not how to make a web site or design the look of the page but how to organize the files that are used in the site.

Peter it is just plain stupid. Something between the American system and the British system(were it is almost impossible to sue) might be a good solution.

Our lawyers are very powerful however and fight to keep their income intact.
