"...if the Tomahawk were put into production, it would draw attention..."

Well, gee, do ya really think so? Maybe if they paint it red.

Aaron,

I think about 1,500hp would do it with Tom Thumb as the naviagtor.

Cheers,

I'm given to believe that few truly (and I number myself among those who are more in awe, the more they learn) appreciate what's involved in going 200MPH.

I'd love to challenge Wolfgang to a David & Goliath style "Team Elves vs. Chysler" shoot-out.

I'd pit the Nallin/Wilson cerebre-team against whoever cloned that thing.

A big motor is no match for a well thought out, developed and executed plan.

But hey......that's just my $0.02 worth :).

Stubby - that little rubber stopper came off of my M2 three times until I used E6000. You can find it anywhere from auto stores to hobby and craft suppliers. I always use it first and never need anything else

Clean both surfaces with alcohol, let dry, apply E6000 to both surfaces, waite a few minutes until tacky, then apply rubber to frame and secure with tape until cured. (Then, apply touch-up paint to gas tank.)

Tomahawk huh? Is the action figure sold separately? Seriously though - see what happens when the Germans take over Chrysler, "come on boss, let me streetfighter a Viper."

The Tomahawk would be a great tractor for a serious sports sidecar.

I am happy to report that the new flow bench, that was promised to Wes, will be arriving around 10am this morning. Wes could not be more excited. The monster will be turned loose now! With it Wes can do a 3D mapping of air flow. There'll be no end to research now. This means our CNC head designs won't be too far behind.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys(and gals) know that I deliver what I promise.

I just got a new, larger style, gas tank for my '96 S1. I am now having trouble getting my seat to fit properly. I am using an aftermarket seat I purchased from Sport Twin (the one with the embroidered buell logo on it).

Has anyone else run into this problem? If I can find a stock seat, will it work with the larger tank?

Thanks. Ride Safe.

Jason,
What year is your tank? I have "heard" that the '98 big tanks had a slightly different taper at the back to the later ones. I have tried to verify it by comparing numbers from unpainted tanks for the different years, but we couldn't get it to make sense, although numbers did change, they didn't match seat changes for the corresponding years.

Elsewhere in that article on the Chrysler brick, they up their claim from 300mph to 400mph.

By my calculations, a Hayabusa, which is a superbly aerodynamic motorcycle, would need 735hp to go 300 and 1740hp to go 400.

This is based on John Noonan's record setting performance at Bonneville in October. He reportedly had just over 400rwhp and managed 245mph.

To suggest that 300mph is just a matter of strapping wheels to a 500hp engine is ridiculous. 400mph is even more ridiculous.

All of this assumes you could overcome a few minor issues such as lift, traction, tire separation, and keeping the rider on the bike and conscious.

Buellskinner,

(Buell sidecar) "Anyone done it, seen it done, any ideas?"

Yes, the last 2 years at the Griffith Park Sidecar Rally. Talk to Doug Bingham of Side Strider. Doug is "Mister Sidecar" in sidecar circles. He mounted a Velorex to a Cyclone. This rig was featured in Battle2Win. He probably has a mount kit for your Buell.

And when you get the project done... Remember: Turn right, hang off right, go right! "Keep the rubber side down" will now be a real challenge!:)

ANY INTEREST IN A LICENSE PLATE ELIMINATOR KIT/TURN SIGNAL RELOCATOR KIT FOR THE S-3?

A guy here in Phoenix is considering making a kit to rid the S-3 of that butt-ugly license plate and turn signal setup. He's not going to do anything though unless there's some interest from more than just myself.

Any takers?

Later,
Scott

I think American Sport Bike already has them. And even if they didn't, freeloader advertising is frowned upon by the admin here.

While Wes is so happy...I have the instruction book(for the software) and I am very sad. No sleep for me for a long while. Oh, I am so very blonde!

Good afternoon. I have been with you people for a couple of years now and thought it about time to actually say hi and thank all of you for the information that you have given me.

Scottcolbath: I would be interested in what the S3 eliminator kit looks like.

Thanks again.

I would also be interested in what that eliminator kit would look like/cost and if it would work on an S3T.

Thanks.

Aaron:

I keep wanting to write Wolfgang and challenge him to bring his machine to a "Battle of the Elves", first one to 200 takes the bacon.....I do not think (bear in mind I am a mere construction worker) that thing would break 200MPH.

It's what I refer to as a "Cocktail Party Cruiser".

It was suggested on SacBORG that they could put a fairing on the Chrysler Tomahawk that would look like the bike in Tron. Remember that movie?

Then just superglue the pilot into the seat, and walla, off you go...

From another article on the bike:

"We figure that top speed, with this engine and a 1:1 drive ratio - without factoring in aerodynamic drag - works out to 420 mph."

Without factoring in aerodynamic drag? Man, that's convenient. Let's just assume it's got enough power to pull 420mph gearing and overcome the drag!

Ferchrissakes, I had no idea it was that easy. I think I'll go gear my Blast for 500mph. I'm gonna put all those streamliners on the trailer at Bonneville this year!

Brilliant engineers behind that thing, let me tell ya.
