Ksims... I bought my 2000 M2 in Feb of 2001 with 3500 miles on it for about what you want to pay, you should have no problem, especially if you buy off season. I love the bike, warts and all. The cons are minor and the pros are major.

Greg, the turbo route isn't my prefered but thanks anyway. I'll leave that to Pete's expertise AND bank balance :)

Court, if that Laverda shows up here, you could buy it over the phone with your Austin Powers, Gold Member. It would cost you, and this is off the top of my head, maybe 7 or 8 hundred $$$$ max to ship to you and I'd be willing to help on this side if you need.

Court,
Talk to Choptop about Aprilla/Italian parts availability before you go Italian

>>I'm getting a major Lightning urge......<<

Is that like a Lightning bug? If so I've got the same affliction thanks to Justin!!

Shipping, according to ex-Laverda folks and Aprilia, is the LEAST of your worries.

Since the Lightning has been on the dealers' floors for a couple of months now does anybody in the "know" have a comparison on "R" vs "S" sales numbers? Just curious.

Hey all. We just moved (again) to Kissimmee, FL so's I can get my ejumication in Orlando. After putting several hundred miles on the 'ol S1 she's loosened/shed a few exhaust parts but otherwise been damn good to me. There's few Buells out here...and none of the dealers in this area stock any Buell parts...even the one's that sell 'em! Thank goodness for Discount Auto, NAPA, and Home Depot when I need some quick temporary rigging!

It's been around a week since I've been here and I almost missed you'se guys.

Rick,

Next time you visit Orl HD look up Bob. He is a salesperson who rides a Buell and tends to specialize in them. Good guy and can probably hook you up with other Buellers in central FL.

If I could get the guy that wrote the advertisement article about the Laverda SFC 1000 to write my resume I could get any job I wanted.

It seems that everything is perfect and couldn't possibly be improved.

“unbeatable performance”

“Ergonomics, technology and styling find the perfect balance in this unforgettable machine.”

“the result of the unstoppable passion”

Wow! And that’s just in the second paragraph. It gets better as the artical goes on! Sign me up! I want two of them, money is no object! I had no idea that 133 H.P. at the crank could be faster than a GSXR. How good does it get?

Make a trek up to the Steak and Shake at 436 and Aloma in Orlando on Thursday nights or the Wing House (I believe on Kirkman Rd.) on Tuesday. You can also check out the CFcycle group on yahoo. They're quite a sizable group that puts together rides almost every Sunday as well as track days at North Florida Motorsports park. Orlando HD stocks a pretty good array of Buell spares. I'll be the tomorrow picking up some parts my self.

I was at Orlando H-D earlier this week and they didn't have a T-clamp for my race header or the cheesy rubber fork bumpers. I had to have it all ordered. My Sarasota dealership typically carries these kind of things.

Hootowl...I've been to that site.

I honestly don't care much for get togethers...I just want some backroads to blast.

RE: Turbo Buells
Bill works at Cycle Moto in Mesa, AZ. Call 480-898-0559 and ask for Bill in service. They are a Aprilla/Ducati/Triumph dealer.

Court:
You really need to look at the Tuono:
Tuono1
tuono2
The Tuono "R" model has just about the same pedigree as the SFC. The Tuono is sans the Ohlins goodies and $6k cheaper. I wasn't impressed with the pictures but..... I was swept off my feet at the Motorcycle show. Besides, it's being delivered to your local Dealer right now and you don't have to wait for the "slow boat".

Later

Rick,

There is an abandoned development tract in the area. The more squidly types tend to hang there on the weekends. The best part is there is lots of run-off room, no curbs, and it is paved(in real good condition). At last count the cops did not bother anyone out there either. There are two main ride zones. The small one is/was a cool little semi-oval that has elevation changes and a quick dogleg in it. Run it clockwise and launch yourself on the one elevation change. Run it counter and the dogleg is a trip. The big one is sorta shaped like a capital "J". This one is/was a real hoot. Bubba can attest to the place also.

Those bikes are starting to look like Power Ranger cycles! Disgusting.

Loki...that sounds perfect! I'll have to ask around. I know there's a strip where people drag race but that's not my bag.

Carbon fiber frame covers on the Firebolt look cool as all get out.

Aprilia Parts... Hmmm, well, I waited over a month for an LCD panel for my Mille dash. Not unheard of. My local dealer sucks monkey ass. They dont even stock tip over parts of Aprilia's, NOTHING. One of the best dealers in the country isnt tooo far away though, Scuderia West in San Fran. They ship ups, ala Modesto Buell, and know shite form shine-ola when it comes to Aprilia's.

There is a 3 tiered parts system for Aprilia's, in stock, in the warehouse, and not yet on the boat. Warehouse takes a week for shipping from Georgia. Not yet on the boat can mean as little as two weeks, to several months. If someone back in Italy has got to make the part, it can be several months. If its on the self in Italy, it can take a month.

I dont know what parts availibilty is like for Ducati, they may have it a little more together. I know this is a sore point for Aprilia USA and they are doing thier best to sort it out.

P.S. I put Heli bars on the Mille, and know, for me anyway, it ROCKS. The Tuono bars would be CRAZY. there'd be NO way to keep the front wheel on the ground. :)

Another "up" about Aprilia is Cory in Customer Service. I think there are some things they struggle with, but they are a pleasure to deal with....then, again, I'm not waiting on parts.

Court I was talking to my buddy that used to be one of the painters for Paramount or Waterford bicycles.Anyway I told him about that frame and fork on Ebay $1500.00 he said way to much but to some it might be treasure. Also while talking he told me of 2 frame sets that were painted candy red that he painted himself for special orders, and the one other painter that worked there painted a couple red also.My buddy Dave told me no more than 5 were painted this way.Since you are an owner of one of these bikes I'm wondering if you or anyone else that owns one knows this. I found it interesting. Dana aka BadS1

Chop, have you tried getting any parts from Corse Superbike? They are just north of Milwaukee. They field a couple of Duc teams & sell, aprilia, ktm, moto guzzi, ducati, & MV. Been in there a few times & they have quite a few parts for Ducs, havent really looked for priller parts tho.

Rick,

I wish I could remember the actual directions to the place. If ya mention to anyone who rides in the area they ought to be able to show it to you. I could find it easy enuff if I were still in the area. Pretty much a decent group of people who frequent the place.

Honda pulled the ST1300 from the Long Beach MC Show and according to my Buds on the Left Coast, not only was there no bike and no brochures the staff avoided any and all questions about it.

Interesting, eh?
