Fogcity, Both are Henderson's. Trademark for them was the forks going thru the front fender. And the "squids" of today think they have a new fad with "beach bars". I had a chance to ride one totally restored a few years ago. Number two and three cylinder's spark plugs will bite you good in the right calf! Was exceptionally smooth if I recall correctly. Frank, You guys coming up for the East Coast Run? it goes right through my backyard! I'll look for the m2L w/the beveled pegs and the bolt with one wheel on the ground. You guys will love the The Dinosaur. Racerboy/V2win, do you know who I need to talk to so that I can get the restaurant on the ride? Very Bike friendly, seats a 150 or so (Rochester) Hopefully your run will be towards the end of the year, I'm thinking of Daytona, Mid-Ohio, The Buell Run and hopefully (if I'm not divorced) the Arkansas run. Have a good holiday Frank  Oz you found a bar they let you ride into yet? Its getting cold sitting in the garage looking at the bikes. Hmmm maybe a business opportunity..... FIREMAN JIM !!! I wont be able to ride with you this weekend , I no longer have a working ankle , nor a working XB9S !! LET ME TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENED....... First I'd like to thank Ferris , Dr.Steve ,Don S and Jeff for being there for me during this Painful and unforgettable Experience.... Last Sunday on what would have been Ferris's first ride on the "S" I experienced my first street accident in over 30 years.On a trip up the mountain Hiway 18 going up to the Arrowbear area<while attempting to avoid Debris in the road I lost the rear end of the "S" on a moderate speed right hand 4 lane turn.While making a midturn correction I started dragging the right hand peg.Having to pull my foot out from between the peg and pegmount to gain more angle the bike leaned to the pegmount causing the rear tire to lighten enough to start a rear wheel slide.The front wheel stayed perfectly planted but the rear was drifting towards the centerline. Chosing not to hang off in this traffic I had no more room and let go of the bike and pushed off the seat to get away from the bike.This was necesary since approaching in fast lane towards me was a Forerunner at full speed....Flattening out best I could I cleared the front of the Toyota and slid past to see a small car in outside lane a little further back...Seing i'd clear this one I glanced at the upcoming curb and guardrail....Oh Shit(sorry Blake)this could hurt!Fortunately I'd scrubbed off enough speed by now to rollup against the curb and rail and only suffer a few bruised ribs.Feeling my extremities to make sure they were still attached , wiggling my toes and doing a quick check of sensory inputs I figured I was still in one piece.Sat up against rail to see Ferris in my face doing the Triage thing.Feeling a tight feeling in my right boot i got them off preferring not to have them cut off and found a swollen ankle and a big cherry on my knee.This minor injury was a testament to wearing the CORRECT SAFETY GEAR!!!Full leathers , high quality riding boots and gloves and an ARAI helmet saved a lot of possible injury and rash to this old body!(shut up Tat!)These guys got me an Ambulance pronto and at the hospital discovered a broken ankle and a little rash and that was it!!5-6 weeks in a cast and Ill be good as new and a bit wiser....I really want to thank you guys for being there and keeping me in the right place and when that replacement bike shows up it'll be up for a good break-in period..for about 4 weeks!!!FB?(Blake , I know this is in the wrong place but I couldnt find the crash site!sorry) 95 S2 99X1 03 "S" in many pieces!Toyota ran over and totalled!!! | ||

Ebear, I know the feeling. Last year about this time is when Duane and I were taken out by the 71 year old War Woman. The things that go through your head get kinda crazy. Ok, I'm gunna heal. Pissed as Hell because this is all so inconvieniant. Damn, I have to deal with the insurance co.! Now it's time lines, what rides are coming up? Will my bike be ready? What will I do while I'm layed up? (there's almays a cage around to get you to your riding buddy's where a nice Bench Race awaits) Things will come together as you now have time to deal with details!. If any good could be sifted from the wreckage it's, Your gunna be fine, Its early in the year and the Bike will be done and you have great friend to be there and to see you through this! A short time ago (like in the last week or two) somone posted that they were taking orders or selling carbon fiber ram air scoops for the XB bikes. Ebear, If it's any consolation, at least it's not the foot that does all the shifting! Take care and heal rapidly! Touch base with Justin at HCHD/Buell and have them start building you a Team Elves replacement that Ferris will really enjoy riding! Sorry you had to prove to yourself that proper riding gear is as important as the ignition key. Been there myself and the "rash" seems to take longer than bones to heal properly. Keep your spirits up and I'll send you earplugs if you need them for all the friends and family that have to add the old "I told you so" | ||

Tech question. I have a 1998 S1W with 30,000 miles on it. Top end rebuild at 19,324 miles. So on the rear cyl I have a very small head gasket leak, just below the exhaust port. The leak stops once the bike warms up. I suppose the cyl and head expand from heat and close up the leak. Must be very small. Sounds like detonation at first. I don't think the gasket is damaged, tho I am not sure. It is pretty easy to change out the gasket especially on the rear cyl. Just wondering if anyone had a similar exp. | ||

Maybe the pipes had something to do with this too?  On a somewhat related note, the Honda RC211V GP bike has a 57.75 inch wheelbase, about 3 inches longer that the rest of the bikes on the grid, and apparently this was done to help keep the front end of the bike down.......... | ||
