X1glider - I was referring to my Rules and Regs. However, if you take a microscope to those CC&Rs you can almost always find a way around them. Also, there are many new laws being adopted by states which allow for an "animal companion". Basically, if, say, a doctor can write a note saying you need this particular animal companion for your sanity, then it would be illegal for anyone/place to discriminate against you or your girlfriend for having such animal. But, hey, you're moving to Korea so I guess the point is mute. Speaking of, let me say that there are no subservient Korean girls except, perhaps, for the ones depicted in American movies. What you will find in Korea are beautiful women with a rich history, strong family values, uncanny intuition and a wisdom learned from generations that have lived through both the best and worst of times. Tricklidz, this might be late, but it's still worth it. Run to your local Sears store (I've seen them elsewhere, but don't remember where) and buy this big rubber pipewrench thingie. You will do your shock adjustments in a *fraction* of the time. The tool will not mar the shock (make sure the shock is clean first). I am adjusting my shock often (solo to double), and believe me, after you use this, you'll never use a "hard" wrench again on your shock. I own three of them. An ASB wrench, a wrench that was custom made for me, and the adjustable wrench pictured by Freyke. Now they just gather dust in my toolbox.  Steve | ||

Sometimes the rubber wrench (does anyone have a "techie" name for it?)comes packaged with a smaller one. Don't use the smaller one, use the biggest one you can get. The smaller one, instead of turning the shock, will stretch like a rubber band. Oh, and of course, you'll have to use a normal wrench (any kind of adjustable will do)to loosen the locknut first. | ||

Hey everyone. Need some more help. I already have the V/H pipe on with no power to speak of. It runs OK if I am smooth with the power all the way up to redline but if I full throttle while cruising or rev hard at an idle it bogs down. After calling several Harley/Buell dealers within traveling distance and so far they say they probably can make the change to the F/I but they will see if they have the equipment. Should I just get a Power Commander 3 and do it myself? I am beginning to not like fuel injectors!! | ||

Blake, I don't know. The service manual doesn't say much about the AFV. All I know is from a Buell tech who said the AFV should ideally read 100%. At one point when my bike was running crappy it was because my AFV was not at 100%, so the tech set it to 100 using the scannalyzer. The bike ran great after this. The same tech told me about setting the AFV to 100% by riding the bike between 2500 rpm and 3500 rpm for 5 miles. I would guess the AFV is used in calibrating the injectors to the ECM by reading the O2 sensor value. Perhaps it is a term used to describe a stoichiometric reading at the O2 sensor. This then would be a reference point for all the maps stored in the ECM. I'm just guessing though. Rob | ||

Blake, WOT is open loop not closed loop(below 2500 rpm and WOT). I think of a needle raising all the way up in a carb. I beleive at this point the injectors basically give it all they got. This would come from a map though and still have to be referenced to the AFV. Again just wild guesses, this why I switched to a carb, too many unknowns for me, I like to know what's going on in my machine. Rob | ||

X1 -- re: bike choice in Korea -- unless things have changed dramatically (it has been more years than I care to remember), the V-Strom or other SUV-type bike is gonna be the hot tip for secondary roads in Korea -- tertiary roads were close to goat paths -- I spent three years living with Koreans, and found them to be hard-working, harder-partying (Irish of the east, I've heard used), honorable in the extreme -- once you're "adopted," you'll think you're in heaven . . . . wonderful people, gorgeous country . . .. have a gas . . . everyone should have the opportunity to live in a culture other than their own at least once, methinks | ||

Blake / Rob, My understanding of the AFV is it will allow the ECM to off-set the "map set" used in open loop to compensate for a less than 100% value, that is <2500RPM or WOT. It also takes part in closed loop operation the same way. Example - If the open loop "map-set" says 50% fuel and the AFV is 75%, ECM adds 25% to that 50%. This is how an automobile fuel table works. These numbers are for a point only, not to be taken in any context other than to show a numerical difference. Anony, if this is incorrect, please step in. I am comparing a different system to the DDFI and making some assumtions for this information. The problem with the system is is that it takes a bit for the O2 sensor to "heat up" after cruising for a while. I am going to adapt the 4 wire heated sensor up to the Race ECM input this weekend, may or may not read faster. Oxygen sensors have come a long way since a 1 wire, exhaust heated. Switched to a carb, no sense of adventure.  Jeff | ||

I just spent about an hour and a half on the phone trying to find a throttle cable for my 97 S3T. I called the local shops here in St.Louis; Gateway H/D, Surdyke in Festus, Ted's in IL. Then I started working my way out from there: Topeka H/D, Ukes, Hals, Sport Twin ( who refered me to H/D of Dallas). I finally found a lone, single, send it to me cable over in the flat lands of Evansville In. BUDS HAD IT! Great, go put your hands on it and then ship it today via UPS. This is what I spoke of a while back about keeping inventory for these bikes. This cable fits ALL carb'd Buells. Its one of those must stock items if you want to sell Buell parts. I don't blame the dealers for not stocking parts for the old style bikes. Hell, the line has been discontinued by the manufacturer. It's the mothership that has caused this situation. They decided to quit making these bikes with the hand crafted frames in leu of a foreign made, uglyer than my first girlfriend's sister, aluminum one. And not only that but they put a smaller engine in the damn thing. Well, I have 55,000 on mine and plan to put another 55,000 on the SOB. I have started picking up extra parts here and there for future use. Piss on H/D. They have no idea what we want to ride. Make it pretty. Make it shine. Make it loud. And Buell. Man, they are lost now. Swallowed up by Big Mama H/D. Make it little. Market it towards the "600cc-750cc" riders and piss on the customer base that they had. Sure, some of the younger S1 types will buy the XB, but the S3 and S3T riders are faced with looking for another brand. So be it. Pissed in St. Louis V2win | ||

PS - my careful running in of my M2 is now over, and at 4,500 miles I have a nicely loosened engine, and with the airbox gone, and carb-mods, I have discovered where the "mid-range torque" you all talked about has been hiding......whoopdeedoo! Sharkus, If you don't already have it, GET THE RACE ECM ASDAP!! Do not play with anything else until you do this. It makes that much of a difference!! Once you have installed it and had the TPS reset by a Buell(not a HD) dealer you will be in heaven!! | ||

Ok got the Word (yuk) file and converted it to ClarisWorks (yay Mac users) and have established that there are "Team Jerseys" and "Team T-shirts" ........so which of these items is Court displaying in the picture further back on this here page???? Anybody know? Dont look like a T-shirt and is unlike any jersey I have seen......help! | ||
