Since I went to some effort to compose em, here they are: [1] Acknowledging the historically low sales volume of S3/S3T models, are there plans afoot to enable XB12long buyers to configure their own tourers, using Ulysses pieces? [2] What's the state of the Buell USA dealership network - numbers abandoning/being added? Will '06 production volume be more/same/less than '05? Is Buell expected to be more than 3% of H-D's volume? What's the shipment trend [and corporate emphasis] regarding domestic vs. offshore sales? [3] BRAG events are great fun and a good value, too. Has attendance been satisfactory? Is the Laguna Seca tent going to return in 2006? Is Road America's? Will the road adventures continue to be offered? An additional number annually, or the same? [4] Will the demo program remain? Expand? Change? [5] My tuber [a '99 M2] would benefit from Pro-Series pieces and other P&A that have disappeared from the parts catalog - any chance these pieces will reappear? [6] Many of us believe the abandonment of the Pegasus logo [be it 1st- or 2nd-generation] for the newer oval is unfortunate. Ducati mines its history well, with a wide variety of stickers and patches in whatever logo style one might wish. My helmet, apparel, motorcycle & 4-wheelers would all look better with various-sized RH & LH Pegasus logos - any chance they will return? [7] I'm mildly concerned that "Fuell" was subsumed into "The Enthusiast". Any other similar disappearances of Buell-specific programs on the horizon? Any new Buell programs coming? [8] The frequency of online exchanges of 'R' & 'S' bodywork in a mix-&-match manner suggests there's a P&A opportunity for full or partial bodywork kits - any plans? [9] Buell machine participation in AMA Formula Extreme, with a couple of brave exceptions, has been negligible. Club-level racing, on the other hand, looks to be increasingly healthy, thanx to selected very enthusiastic dealers and factory contingency money. What will 2006 and beyond hold? [10] Any interest is supporting a Ulysses-based effort in the Baja [or similar off-road] races? Hi, I'm a beginner rider, and was wondering anyone's opinion on how feasible the lightning XB9 would be as a first bike. I really like the Buell bikes...Is it "too much" bike for a beginner? I'm very responsible, am taking the MSF course soon, and want to get a bike. I'm a pretty big guy, about 6'2", 230lbs...pretty athletic. Or should I start out with something smaller? thanks for your input.. | ||

Jason, Start with something you will not be heartbroken to drop. As a beginner you will drop the bike.  It happens. I would look for a $500 bike like a CM400 Honda or something like that do the MSF class and beat it senseless. Sell it next spring for $500 and get a CityX or XB12S. My $.02 DBird | ||

I think the 9 would be an OK first bike. Don't ride it without the frame pucks, and always ride your own ride. You have nothing to prove to anyone. | ||

Let me chime in and (as usual ) suggest getting a used SV650 to learn on. They can be had for reasonably cheap, are fun bikes, handle well (although a guy your size would appreciate some inexpensive suspension mods), and if you slap some frame sliders on it (Intuitive Pro version) they crash very well indeed - been there, done that. An SV will teach you a lot about riding, and you can probably sell it without too much of a loss when you get to feel comfortable with street riding. You can pick up a Buell at that point. Or, take the Riders Edge MSF class at the H-D dealer, and then pick up a used Buell Blast which is the same bike as in the class. (Assuming you fit OK on the class bike.) After I put 1,600 miles on the Blast, I was ready and able to move up into any bike. | ||

I'm a big advocate of the USED Blast for a first motorcycle. Some of the cautions you will need to practice you don't yet know or understand. You need a motorcycle that will "partner" with you in learning, not challenge you. The Blast fits that bill perfectly. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation or Rider's Edge course is a must. I say again, some of the skills and cautions are not apparent, need to be learned and practiced. I have jokingly shared my criteria for "first bikes" and "dirt bikes" in the past. If you are not willing to walk right out in the drive and kick the bike over on it's side, you've spent too much. In the same vein, I have an entire tome of starter suggestions. I'll not bore you know but I love big parking lots. They allow you to learn how your bike accelerates, stops and handles under conditions of significantly reduced consequence. Most of all welcome. Few sports are as fun, rewarding and hold the lure of exposing you to such a wonderful group of people. Court | ||

At 6'2", I can't really fit on the SV, the tank flare pushes my knees way out. If you have shorter thighs, it might work. Another option would be a barely street legal dual sport. A Honda XR-650 or Suzuki DR-650 might be a little on the tall side, but would be great to learn on, and would be something you might want to keep when you get your "final street bike". An XR200, if you could get one street legal, would be *perfect*. | ||

Hi Jason, Welcome. I'm about your size, I've been riding for a year, and I own a Blast and a Cyclone. I got the Blast first and the Cyclone 9 months later. That worked out well for me. I didn't stop riding the Blast when I got the cyclone either. Mistakes on motorcycles can have bad financial and physicial consequences. The mistakes tend to be cheaper (both ways) on a small bike like a Blast. Get something small, and get good at riding, before you get something large. | ||

Kinda, but in my book, $50 is too much to kick over.
I am lucky to live a couple of miles from the big lot the State Patrol uses to do CDL testing on the weekdays. On the weekends, It is abandoned. GREAT for practice. As are parking lots for football and baseball stadiums in the off seasons. | ||

I really hate people who believe my stuff should be thiers! Come home tonight to a ransacked abode. They tore the place apart. Some of the missing I could care less about. The missing guns are another story though. Along with enuff 5.56 to start a small uprising in the hood. At least they did not take all my riding gear. Some people!
