I’m not sure what Mikuni offers for use on a Buell/Sportster. I have a Screamin’ Eagle manifold for use with a 44CV. I’ll see if it accepts the Mikuni, but I’m out of town tomorrow - I’ll check on Wednesday. |

This might help: http://www.mikuni.com/pdf/sbmanual012302.PDF I'm installing the HSR45 on my Sportster, but it has the 89" Stroker kit, so Aaron at Hammer made me a custom manifold. I will have to grind down some of the fins to make the carb fit properly and then fabricate a mount for my forcewinder. Custom modified S&S version compared to the Hammer manifold:

I also found out the S3 / X1 manifold is a perfect fit for the 45mm carb and doesnt require fin modification, just need to plug the injector holes. |

I did a test fit today, the Screamin' Eagle manifold kit (for '88-'03 XL) will accept the Mikuni HSR 45mm carb. The part number for the kit (manifold, seals, mounting bolts) is 27643-00. If you can run across just the manifold, the part number on the manifold is 27644-00. The DDFI intake manifold can accept the 45 HSR also, but it seems using a "carb" seal (27002-89) seems to retain the carb better than the DDFI seal (29539-99Y). If the carb seal is used on the DDFI manifold a notch will need to be cut to clear the manifold's cast boss which serves as an attachment point for the throttle body retention strap. And, as Dean stated, the injector ports will need to be plugged (great nitrous location). |
